I was able to move from standard view to courtyard view with the spring offer for my stay in April. Now I'm wondering if that increases my chances of seeing any construction from my room? I just want to mentally prepare myself since I'm set on staying at WL lol.

For now, the construction is in between the South Wing of WL and VWL. At some point, the construction will also be on the shores of Bay Lake and in the area between the marina and Trout Pass where the playground was located. This will impact North Wing Woods View rooms and higher CYV rooms. I don't know when this construction will begin, but I believe the overall least impacted WL view during all of the construction would be the lowest WL CYV rooms in the North Wing and for now, anything else in the North Wing.

More detailed information is in the WL DVC Expansion thread linked at the top of POST 1.

I just did the same for our May trip. I would have preferred to have kept my standard view and applied the discount to that instead of the upgrade, but I still saved a little money. I'm not particularly worried about the construction from CY view. I think the view from one of those rooms will beat standard view pretty much anytime, even with construction. And with std. view, you not only have construction to worry about but parking lot, green roof, etc.

We are arriving in just over a month (Jan 31) to the DVC Lodges. I'm not sure what to request at this point, or if it'll make a difference.

Had a great stay last week! We were in room 7100, so south side club level, but just around the corner from the concierge desk, etc. We did get the construction pins as well, and had no construction view, mostly what I would call woods, as we were facing the villas and to our left had high view of the lake, right had some view of the parking. We loved this resort, and can't wait to come back with our teens next time.

We are strongly considering an April trip next year and just saw where the combination of Orbitz/Disney discounts has an attractive offer for a courtyard view. We absolutely fell in love with WL in our first stay this past May. If it weren't for the construction, I would have already booked. I am still very tempted to, but part of me doesn't know what we will getting ourselves into. Decisions, decisions!

Just booked 7/30-8/5 standard view. Hoping the construction doesn't impact our stay too much. This is only my 2nd Disney trip, first stay was AKL which we loved, fingers crossed that WL will live up to our expectations.

According to today's AllEars Newsletter, Cub's Den will be closed from 3 January through (drumroll, please) 2017!

What villa have you booked, Joseph? The pool/construction view would be least desirable. These are villas facing toward the VWL pool and Bay Lake/marina. I don't know what they've taken out of inventory though. This leaves villas near the bus stop area and those that face toward the wooded area near the FW trails and road.

Thanks for following up on your OFC stay:)

It's a tough decision, isn't it? No one really knows exactly what they will experience during their stay. We do know what will be unavailable. Would any of the closures impact your stay?

:welcome: to the DIS and the WL/VWL thread! We're honored to have your first post here on our little thread.

The same architect who designed AKL, designed WL so I think you'll love all the details and theming. Just keep an open mind about the construction and closures and I'll add your dates to the Lodgers' Log:)

We have a deluxe studio and have requested a woods view near the elevator.

I am debating about splitting my summer stay (probably early June) between Deluxe Club level rooms at WL and BWI. We have stayed in the BWI Deluxe rooms the last two summers but wanted to mix it up. Is this a bad idea with the construction- should I wait to give WL a try? If not, any suggestions for room requests with the Deluxe rooms? @WDWKOOK- Am I remembering correctly that you have a lot of experience with both resorts? TIA!!

We decided to save the money and stay at POR instead. Too many unknowns for us to lay down that much money. We love WL, but I want to be able to enjoy it without any major distractions. Hopefully we will return once the mess is all finished. :)

We're thinking of visiting WDW next December. Our last December visit was at WL and we loved the Christmas decorations. What state do you think the WL--not the villas, but the hotel rooms--- will be in construction wise by December '16? I know that whatever the schedule is, we should prepare for it to be a bit behind. Thanks.

It is really hard to know what it will be like in Dec 2016 since they haven't really started any of the building construction yet.

I've heard that they reclassified the courtyard rooms that faced the villas pool to be woods view now.

When they were working on the main pool last year they took the lower floors out of inventory, but the upper floors had guests staying in them. Maybe they will do that this time, too.

Classifying the South facing south wing rooms as woods view would make sense to me since there is no courtyard there right now. The question is whether this is only a temporary change since eventually there will be another courtyard there. In the mean time though it does ensure that Courtyard View rooms will have a decent view and be the least affected. I can update the room view book able category map if you think we should. What do you think Kook?

We had the opportunity to speak to someone in Wilderness Lodge Conceirge yesterday (they are very helpful about our concerns regarding a peanut allergy) and they mentioned that the conceirge lounge was undergoing renovations. I was surprised because I hadn't heard this, and if I had known I probably would have booked at another resort. Has anyone heard, or seen what is happening there? We arrive Tuesday the 4th.

I ended up going with the WL since the pool and main bridge will be closed during our stay (last week of Feb). We stayed at POR last year and it is a favorite of mine. Excited to try the Lodge out for the first time. It's our first Deluxe stay :-)

We have stayed at POR (first adult trip) other times were at WL. Now, as a family of 6..I don't know what to do. 2 adults, 4 kids (8,6,4, 1) I know there is construction if I can even find a room that fits us. We would be going 1st or 2nd week in May. I just love the location to MK. It was so nice to just go back and forth via boat when needed. What rooms would fit us that won't break us? Have always gone during sale and never paid full price. But now a bigger family = bigger room.. oops. haha

The only option I can think of that won't require either two rooms or a deluxe room would be a VWL studio. They have added the Murphy bed and they will sleep five plus your infant. But you may be right in the front line of construction.
