We will be dining at the Whispering Canyon Cafe before our MVMCP in December. We will be staying offsite and renting a car, will I have to pay for parking at WL if I have a reservation? Can I take the boat after our late lunch to MK and leave the car there?
You won't have to pay to park at WL for an ADR at WL. However, that parking is good for up to 3 hours and is not supposed to be used to enter a park. It's meant for visitors and diners at WL only for that 3 hour period.

To go to MK, I'd either valet park at WL (costs money and doesn't include tip, but does allow for going to parks) or pay slightly less and park at the MK lot (the TTC) after the meal.

Uh oh im a little concerned about the reports of noisy construction. Im very much looking forward to our first wilderness lodge stay but now im unsure. We will be there next month. Im confused about what is goingon there right now and if it will be short lived ??? I can grab a bwi deluxe room but I dont want to...but maybe I should....

Sock2you u can self park for free or valet for about $20 Peeps will say valet if you intend to be parked longer than 3 hours.

We arrive on 12th July.
I spoke to CM about a month ago concerned about the scaffolding and there was no mention of construction starting so quickly, which makes me even more annoyed.

Us too! Really excited to be back at Wilderness Lodge. I hope the construction is not bad.

:cool1:We will be there in 8 days.

I am concerned about construction noise, also. I rely on downtime, days that I sleep most of the day for medical reasons. I picked WL for a quite place to relax on my off days. Now I'm not sure if we should wait and see if construction noise affects us, or just switch and avoid the frustration????

If people are complaining are they being moved? We are there for 11 nights, so that's a lot of money to pay to listen to jack hammers.

I'm just not worried about the noise. I think its going to take some time before they get the noise on - however, there was the report of jackhammers in the morning from what we are speculating is probably converting some rooms to DVC...

maybe I'm naive, maybe I just want to be in my Happy Place, and when I look out my own window, my town thinks we need to work on the roads - or my neighbors think that 8am starts at 7:50 when lawnmowers take over -

I know what i"m used to at WL, but there are days when kids are running up and down, or party goers get a bit rambunctious... I think I'm ok with the noise machine, (an ap on my iPhone) and earplugs...

I will say I'm nervous about a lot more things as my planning will stop, and vacation will take over in less than a week! I'm not sure but I probably have planned way too many food places! (we like so many places, how can I go to the Lodge and NOT go to Whispering Canyon? Or California Grill for Wishes? Or dd favorite - the Grand Tea?) And I have a reservation for BOG - lunch one day, Dinner a different day.... see what I mean? Its too much!

Have to say I am pretty nervous about the construction noise reports. We arrive on Sunday, and will be Club Level (7th floor), which I thought would be sort of immune from the noise. But maybe not. We're won't be sleeping in, but we do like to go back to the room for a mid-day rest. Hope it is OK.
We are also staying at WL CL in December. The construction is making me rethink our resort choice.

Do they give you at ticket with a time stamp? I've heard the resort it beautiful during the Christmas season and was hoping to explore, but since it's only for 3 hours I don't want to go over. Will they tow the car or just charge me when I leave?

How much is Valet?

This is the way I look at it, too. I live on a fairly busy street, so I'm used to early morning noise and occasional construction. I've had neighbors at Disney (YC) that were WAY noisier than any construction could possibly be; they screamed at each other all night and morning :scared1: (I quickly changed rooms) so I think noise issues can arise at any resort.

If you're a light sleeper like me, travel with a fan or a white noise machine/app, you'll be amazed at what it blocks out! Probably not jackhammering, though ;)

We actually have a white noise machine, and it did nothing to abate the noise. I ended up calling down to the front desk to inquire about the length of the noise, and she did offer to move us rooms. We decided to just deal with it for the remainder of the trip. Everyone ended up getting up, putting on the bathing suits, and have been pool side since 9:30. The noise from outside Roaring Fork has definitely quieted down, but I haven't been up to the room to check on the scaffolding noise. In the end, I'm glad the noise got is out of the room. We can sleep at home.

I was at WL last week and the noise is far worse than road construction, loud hotel neighbors, and the "normal" noise you hear at home. I can take noise at hotels, but this was vibrating disturbing noise...... if you were in your room and the work was being done near the room you are staying in. If you are out of your room by 9:30 am and not return until late afternoon, after 3 or 4 pm, do not worry at all (unless they change the start time of loud work), you won't notice anything. The noise from the pool or beach area was not a problem for us. I would assume the WL would move you if you do have a problem with any construction noise. They were very nice and seem to want to make guests happy. If you really want to stay at WL you should have a wonderful time, however, if you have any noise issues go to the front desk and ask to talk to a manager and explain the issues. We still had a great stay even with the noise.

Thanks to all that are reporting on the noise - I truly appreciate your real life experiences!

Nothing like someone being there to report on what is truly going on!

and there are 4 sides to the resort, and I think I'm reading that the scaffolding and jackhammering is occurring in just one area?

again, TIA

Can I ask what time the noise started?

My point is that the nature of the noise is immaterial once whatever it is has woken me up; whether it's construction, road work, or a noisy neighbor, the end result is the same. With the exception of those of you staying now who weren't told about the work (that's not right, I would absolutely complain to a manager), we've all been warned about the extensive planned construction. If you like to sleep in at Disney, WL is probably not the right choice for you right now.

I haven't been officially informed of any construction. In fact, I've been told there is no construction happening at WL and there is none planned!! I booked this holiday 10 months ago, and if I had known this was an issue would have booked elsewhere.

As I stated above, you should definitely speak to a manager about that
