Hi all,
Happily planning for our stay next year and just looking for a bit of advice. We arrive at WL on the 31st Oct and are hopefully doing the MNNSHP on the 1st November if that date is available. Just wondering what to do with our boys on actual Halloween night. Is there likely to be activities around the resort or has any one been to Fort Wilderness on this night? We are from the U.K and I am sure I read that a lot of the families staying on site at FW do amazing decorations. My boys LOVE Halloween but it is not as popular in the U.K so we are looking forward to experiencing it in the US
Many thanks in advance :)

The resorts have Halloween activities, including trick or treat. The activities will be posted on the October activity calendar. The campsites at FW are decorated for Halloween. It is an easy boat ride over to FW to see them. Then also have a very nice play ground for the kids. :)

The dates for MNSSHP have been released and they are not going to have a party on Nov 1st. The October 31st party sells out fast, so if you decide to go to it you might want to get your tickets early. :)

What are the dates for the 2016 MNSSHP?
September 2016 Dates
September 2, 8, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 29 & 30

October 2016 Dates

October 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 23, 25, 27, 28, 30 & 31

Disney released Official 2016 MNSSHP Dates the afternoon of 3/23/16. 29 Parties for 2016. 2016 Projected Dates UPDATED on 3/20/16. Projected Dates were accurate.
  • On these nights, the Magic Kingdom closes at 7pm to guests who have not purchased tickets for the Halloween Party.
  • MNSSHP is from 7pm until midnight.
  • MNSSHP is traditionally held on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday nights in September; and Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday nights in October.

I think gillybean is going in 2017. I only noticed that because that is when I will be going and I am jealous that those from the UK can book before me! :) Although, knowing that they usually end MNSSHP on October 31st is very useful info. Has it ever gone past Halloween? Our trip dates may need to change because of my DD's friend's wedding and our school district changing their calendar, so I was curious about the end date also.

Hi everyone! We are doing one quick arrival night stay before moving to beach club on our next trip, what can't we miss?? I think we want to do whispering canyon cafe for breakfast, and check out the campground area too. Thanks!!

We love riding the boats on Bay Lake, you can hop on one and visit Fort Wilderness or the Contemporary. At WL we enjoy the WCC breakfast, and the QS location )Roaring Fork has great quality and variety, although it can be a little crowded, but with less people overall at the resort it has to be better. It is also great to walk around the resort and see the spring in the lobby that "flows" down through the courtyard and towards the pool. it is a pretty resort to check out.

Hello everyone! We just switched our vacation from YC to WL for Sept 27-Oct 2 to get free dining. This is our first time staying on disney property and we are very excited for this vacation!
Congratulations! Free dining makes staying on property very enjoyable for us. We love WL's location which offers boat transportation to MK and quick access via buses too. It is also great to have it all be under one roof, which can come in handy during September rain storms.

We are staying in a standard room. It seems as anytime we get a standard room lately, we get placed by the loading docks and get woken up every night, and or early mornings, by deliveries. Is there a way to request being away from the loading docks-- still by fax to room assigner or at check in or other?

I completely missed that there are going to be there in 2017. :) Thanks for the heads up. :)

There was a party on Nov 1, 2015. I think it was because Oct 31st was a Saturday that year. Nov 1, 2016 is a Monday and that might be why they aren't having a party on that date.

All of the standard rooms are above the loading dock. You could ask to be close to the lobby, which might be a little quieter. There are some standard view rooms on the south side of the resort. Unfortunately that section is closed for remodeling right now.

I wouldn't hesitate to request what you want, and directly say not above loading dock. While this was traditionally where the standard view rooms are, the current situation is there are only two bookable categories in use, yet the entire North wing is still being used, so it is probably more likely than before that with a standard view reservation you will be elsewhere on the North side of the wing. There are no guarantees that you will avoid those rooms (except for by booking courtyard view) but generally they will try to meet requests and during the construction there isn't a category available specifically for those other rooms, so perhaps you will have better luck.

Thanks. I'll give the request a try. Is it best to fax it, put it on the reservation, or request at check in?

We find it best to call and add room requests to our reservation.

I agree. Call and add it to the reservation anytime up until when the rooms will be assigned about 1-2 weeks before you arrive.

We also have no problem doing online checkin, but rely on calling for our detailed room requests.

Has anyone ever had a problem with boat trans to mk? From the pics, the boats don't look all that large. I assume most guests will be headed to mk at park opening so I want to be sure people are not left standing in line waiting for next boats. The reason I chose this resort is just for the easy access to mk (and paying an ungodly sum for it)

Half of the WL is closed for remodeling, so there are a lot less people waiting for a boat to MK at park opening. But there could still be times when you have to wait for a second boat in the morning. Make sure you allow yourself a little extra time to get there.

Hi all. My DH is planning to take his fishing rod to WL. I'm not sure there is any point. We are probably not going to have time to rent a boat. Are there any designated fishing areas along the bank at the lodge or at the campground?

I usually take the bus over in the morning to avoid any worry about waiting for a second boat, and then take the boat back to the Lodge.

We're kind of bus averse. With small kids, the 10 minute boat ride is why we're there. Didn't want to stay in the villas bc of construction and having to get all services in the main lodge so had to go club level to get a suite there. Expensive boat ride so they better have room for us!
