Disney's Sheets Stink!

Just got back and really the only negative was the quality of sheets that Disney used at the BWV and VWL. I have had better linens in a Red Roof Inn. They must have had a thread count of about 2 and pressed with a gallon of starch. They were so stiff and uncomfortable that I tried to wash them and even that didn't help. For $400 a night I think Disney could swing some better sheets.

The Towels were nice though. :thumbsup2

We were at BWV and I found them pretty stiff and scratchy too. Definitely not my most comfortable sleeping experience.

When we stayed at OKW our bedding was great. The pillows were wonderful! When we stayed at Pop our sheets were comfy the first four nights. When they changed them for our fifth night they were awful!!! They were sooooo stiff and starchy. I would have never been able to sleep on those sheets for five nights. Bottom line, if we get uncomfortable sheets at POR on our upcoming stay I will ask to have them changed. Hopefully a different set might be a little more comfortable.

We stayed in the BWV in October and I found the bed and bedding to be extremely comfortable. I did not experience stiff, uncomfortable, thread bare sheets. Maybe I was just lucky :confused3

I thought the sheets were too short! The bottom sheet wasn't even covering the whole bottom(the mattress cover was showing through).I am tall 5'11'' so maybe something like that is more noticeable to me. I was seriously considering packing my own set of comfy sheets for our next trip.

Interesting. I believe the deluxe resorts were updated with Wamsutta linens and new towels, etc., last summer/fall. I guess it wasn't for the better! We stayed at the Poly last August, prior to their linen and towel change and were appalled by what we received. Sheets and towels with holes and burn marks from irons(?). I actually had mousekeeping come and change our sheets on the very first night and replace our towels as well. From then on we received what was called "VIP housekeeping." Umm..ok, whatever. For almost $400 a night, we definitely expected better. It disturbs me to hear that the new sheets aren't any better.

To clarify. The sheets were clean, didn't have rips and were not thread bare. The thread count seemed very low but it was hard to tell. It seems to be the method Disney was using to press the sheets as at the end there were very sharp, starched creases which were very, very uncomfortable. Maybe the starch machine was on the fritz but I saw this at both BWV and VWL. If you have ever taken a dress shirt to the dry cleaners and asked for extra heavy starch this is what the sheets were like. The blankets were not bad, but they were not that great either. Something you would see at a $99 motel.

I don't think any clarification is needed. I think that other DISers will be able to differentiate between our experiences.

Wow, that surprises me. We were there in May and our linens were immaculate.

I will agree with the icky sheets at VWL. We were there 1/23-28th and I called housekeeping for 2 additional blankets. DD10 and I ended up putting them on top of the sheets and sleeping under two other blankets. Much better. The bedspread was immediately taken off the bed and put along the side of it. Can't bring myself to sleep with that on top of me!

Same bedding is used throughout the entire property, its not individual to any single hotel.

We had bad sheets at POR on our last visit. And the weirdest thing happened......I woke up with a rash every morning. It was a rash with white-ish spots on my arms and legs (just the areas exposed to the flat sheet), and it lasted for a couple of hours every day and then went away. I was the only person in the family with this problem. I don't know if it was from the sheets themselves or the laundry detergent they use. ???

I agree! We stayed at the YC for 4 days and I was going nuts! THe sheets were so rough and scratchy that I had to put towels down on top of the sheets. Then we switched to the Poly and it was much better.

We stayed at the YC in December and also agree that the sheets were terrible .. they were so rough and scratchy ... I didn't find the bath towels to be any better either ... I wish they could use some fabric softener on all their linens ...

I get frustrated with the sheets not staying on the beds! I've resorted to packing my own bottom sheet and putting it on myself. I leave a note that they are to NOT change the bottom sheet. I usually pack a very noticable color. That seems to work.

Scratchy would be terrible, but I have to admit, I LOVE heavily starched sheets. I have beautiful sets of French sheets and in the summer I love to get them laundered and starched - nothing like a crisp sheet in the summer! :goodvibes

We had the same issue last year at CBR, my DH and I laughed every morning. That's a good idea about bringing your own sheet! Iam going to think about doing that this year.:thumbsup2

In response to the too short sheet, Disney doesn't use fitted bottom sheets. They use flat sheets. When they went to thicker mattresses, the flat sheets no longer stretched from head to foot on the mattress. When I've been in the room watching mousekeeping (I try to do that a couple times every trip) they have put a sheet on the bottom half of the bed first, which leaves about a foot or so of the mattress showing at the head of the bed, then overlap with a sheet positioned at the top of the bed that ends about a foot or so short of the foot of the bed. I've never had a bed that left the mattress exposed, although I suppose if you had a mousekeeper that wanted to take short cuts, it could happen.

It seems like whenever Disney gets a new stock of linens in, they are a little rough for a while. Maybe they are more durable? I did think the towels were great - thick, fluffy and soft - that I had at BWV last month. And I loved the pillows! I've found the website for them, but I don't know which type of pillow was on the bed, just who manufactures them.
