♔ Welcome to Disney's Princess Academy! ♔

Here, you are surrounded by girls just like you. Girls who dream of reaching a throne one day. Some are set on making a positive difference in the world. Others simply want the glory and fame that comes with royalty. Classes and dorms take place inside the gracious Queen Cinderella's castle. When classes are over, the princesses-in-training are free to roam around the gorgeous kingdom or simply stroll the grounds, admiring the giant library ore gardens full of statues immortalizing princesses of the past. Will you too be "set in stone" in these gardens one day? Only time will tell.

Octavia: She walked up to the school. Why her mother was so concerned about a royal education, Octavia couldn't fathom, not when Octavia already had a doctorate in Law (though she'd put it off in favor of her first two doctorates)! But they were giving her shelter until she could walk around in public without getting shot at, so she supposed she mustn't seem ungrateful. She could probably start her next doctorate online. Yes, that would get her through the boredom! But what to get it in.....Architecture, perhaps? Or maybe Psychology?

Hal: She watched her assignment walk into the building from the safety of behind the wheel of her car. This was going to be a long hard assignment, with zero benefits or positives. This kid better not be annoying, or Hal would be tempted to just let her assignment die and find something to do that was actually worth her time. Oh well, it wasn't like she was actually going to participate in anything or complete assignments.

OOC: I'm on the app with no color, so just pretend this is light blue.

Clarion: She arrived at the academy, being driven by a spacious black car. She enjoyed her time at her royal island, but she loved being at the academy around other princesses. She stepped out of the car, fixing up her sea foam green arrival dress and fixing her hair. Then she looked around, taking in the scenery.

Octavia: She thought for a few more minutes, then noticed another girl and decided to get a second opinion. She walked over. "Hi, it's nice to meet you. So I was trying to decide on what to do to go for my next doctorate. At first I thought do something useful or serious, like Architecture or Psychology or Engineering, but then I thought maybe I should have some fun, something like Theatre or Astronomy. What do you think?"

Bri: She arrived at the academy. It was beautiful! She couldn't wait to start her classes! She got out of her car and walked over to two girls talking to each other. "Hi! My name's Bri."

Clarion: Clarion was caught a little off-guard by the question, but thought for a moment. "Well, I would do something perhaps a little more fun or enjoyable, Theater, perhaps? I would personally find that more appealing than Architecture or Engineering."

Octavia: She shook it. One of her professors said you could tell a lot about a person by their handshake. Octavia's was strong and measured, Octavia worked to make it project the strength and intelligence she was determined to convey.

Clarion: Her own handshake was more delicate and lady-like, at least in Clarion's mind. "What Shadow House are you?" she asked, already betting she knew the answer. She realized a little late she had probably asked the question a little rudely, as if she was one of the princesses who prejudiced against the other Houses. Her face turned a little pink with embarrassment.

Octavia: She was wary of the handshake, she knew about girls with soft handshakes. "What's a Shadow House? Oh wait, is that that really lame three choice version of Hogwarts Houses or sororities or something? There was no Gryffindor or Ravenclaw and I didn't like to associate with the sorority girls when I was going for my first three doctorates, so I wasn't really interested. What were they called again? Traditional, Unique and Uncommon? Well I went Unique, though I suppose I could have been moderately successful in Uncommon as well."

OOC: No offense meant at all, I actually like your work and your system, Octavia is just feeling chafed and trapped by the rules and system and how she's basically forced to be here by her mother so she's a little angry about it.

Clarion: She was a little bewildered about the statement. 'Really lame three choice'? She thought about her answer. "Well, yes, I suppose they are like sororities. I'm not sure what your Gryffins and Ravens are. And yes, those are the three Shadoe Houses. I am a Traditional."

Octavia: She shook er head. "You've missed out on the best book series ever. Huh. That's the one that's all about what 'high society' thinks a princess should be, right? No wonder my shallow mother wanted me to pick that. But she's evil and I have three doctorates so I never listen to her. The public actually addresses me as 'Dr. Princess' back in the country, like they call the president of the United States 'Mr. President'. Isn't that awesome? I'm only here because I have to be."

Clarion: She was a little offended by this, she was quite proud of her Shadow House, but she kept calm. "Really? You say that as if the academy is something not to enjoy... I for one love being around the other princesses, and I love this kingdom. What is this book series with Ravens and Gryffins?"

Octavia: "It's called Harry Potter, it's awesome. And well, I'm sure it must be enjoyable for someone such as you, but for someone like me.....well, you don't understand. My life is fast fast fast, zooming down the highway at about 120 miles per hour, it's go go go. Making innovations, making discoveries, talking technology, taking life, talking future with some of the most important, smartest, best people in the world, making the world a better place for everyone, going from Los Angeles to New York City to London to Paris to Milan all in one day for meetings sometimes, deadlines and trials and experiments, 72 hour straight work sessions, jet-setting around the world, getting college doctorates done in the time it takes the average college student to get one year of college done, build this, plan that, write this book, give that speech, fast-fast-fast, go-go-go, practically flying at the speed of light. I'm always energized, be it from adrenaline or coffee, always raring to go, always working, not stopping, never stopping, never going to stop. I'm living fast, living loud, because we don't have a lot of time to live and I'm not going to waste my life. Carpe diem, seize the day, and I'm not ever gonna let go. Riding high, riding fast, doing it all. My life is fast fast fast, go go go. Nothing holds me down, nothing holds me back. I'm a powerhouse, nothing bars my way. I'm free. My life, I'm free to do whatever I want, I don't let anything rein me in. I don't let anything take my power or individuality away from me. My life is fast fast fast, go go go. I'm on top of the world, Clarion. And it's fantastic." Once she had started explaining her life, she had started to grin, and get excited and energetic.

But then the smile fell from her face. "But this? You might like this, but I don't, You know how I see this? Old world, old fashioned ideas, old fashioned politics, strict ideals, everything must fit into a box, black and white photographs or stiff paintings, slow slow slow, beauty and money over intelligence and ingenuity, compulsory marriage without love, places and hierarchies and pedestals. You might like being a princess, and if that's you I won't begrudge you for it, to each their own. But to me the palace is a prison, the throne a cage, the crown a ball and chain. It's binding, it's choking, it's suffocating. I can't stand it. And I fear being molded into the image, into what the queen wants to see: a possession, not a person, doomed to be the tool to further the queen's own power. I fear that oblivion more than death itself. But you wouldn't understand."

Clarion: Her eyes gradually widened as the girl went on. Clarion herself could never imagine living a life like that, but she supposed that Octavia must feel the exact same way about being a princess like a Traditional would be. "Well, I, like you, also won't begrudge you on any of your values or preferences in your life. I for one feel the exact opposite, that I couldn't stand to have that sort of a fast paced life, that the crown is anything but some sort of a burden. And I will hardly try to change your mind, your opinion is your opinion. But I will say that perhaps you should try to take it in perspective, perhaps not to dislike this academy and being royalty and such in the ways that you do.

Being a princess, enjoying it, embracing it, and overall being there for your kingdom, not always being fast paced and completely independent. It's an honor to be royalty, and I advise you not to be too negative about it, or take advantage of it. It's an amazing opportunity, and so is this academy, that so many girls in this world long for in their lives. Don't let yourself be a possession instead of a person, I don't mean anything like that, stick up for yourself, be strong physically and emotionally, but perhaps 'the queen' is older, wiser, and may just know what's best? It isn't easy. Being royalty isn't easy, it requires dedication and, yes, you may have to sacrifice a bit of your free-style and fast paced life, but isn't giving a bit of that up for the well-being of your people worth it?" She stopped, taking a breath, finding herself a little flushed. "I don't usually give speeches like that."

OOC: It took me ages to find a decent response to that, Wings, that was a very well written post

OOC: Thank you.

Octavia: "While I'm sure your words will well meant and your intentions pure, I am not sure I can agree with them. This....place is merely an inconvenience, and I'm not going to drop everything because whoever runs this place bats their eyelashes at me. I'm working with a business in Tokyo that's working on revolutionary technological and realistic looking prosthetic limbs for amputees, I'm working with a research facility in Madrid that's trying to find the cure for cancer and I'm working with a think tank in Toronto on their newest project and I'm doing this all at once. The queen? The queen has a brain smaller than an ant's. The queen tried to keep me from going to college when I was 14 because she told me, and I quote, 'Princes don't marry princesses who are smarter than them'. The queen loves and cares for me not, and I stopped loving her a long time ago. She is my mother only in blood, and not in spirit or of heart. I have power, I will not be satisfied with the trappings of a throne. To sit on a throne is to only help your own country, and that's selfish in my eyes. And why should I be required to sacrifice when there are others more willing?" She smirked. "Liberating, isn't it? Speaking your mind? I don't speak any other way."

OOC: I agree with Octavia so much it's getting hard to reply lol

Clarion: She listened. "Well, I'd like to say first off that I congratulate you on your successions and workings with such good intentions. I do not mean to say that you should give up these things. Keep at them, continue to help others, fantastic job, but you really should not let your disliking of a more, pardon the word phrasing, traditional way of being a princess or queen stop you from being a /responsible/ princess or queen. It's your job, your duty, to rule over your people, yes, but goodness no not in a aelfish way at all! Keep continuing these studies, by all means, but there will come a time when your travels will be slowly reduced, cut down, as your responsibility as a royal becomes greater and greater. When this does happen, you should take everything they teach you at thos aademy to become the best princess or the best queen you could ever, possibly be. You asked why you should be required to sacrifice when others are more willing. Again, I repeat, despite the term's over-use and cliche meaning, it's your duty as a royal to do just that, make sacrifices for your kingdom or country or whatever the case may be. Yes, while so many others would be willing to take your place as a royal in a heartbeat, they hardly have the opprotunity to do so. As a princess, you should be obliged, honored, even, to put your people's needs in front of your own. As for your mother, it'd most likely be best not to give her too harsh of judgement. While even I certainly do not agree with that particular quote about smarter princesses, you said that you wouldn't begrudge me on my own beliefs. Why should she be any different?" Clarion found herself quite enjoyin the debate, being able to say what she thought. "And do bear in mind as I say this, I mean no offense or negative infliction at all. These are simply my opinions on the topic."
