Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Staying here for the first time in a solo trip. I probably have changed resorts a few times😅I usually stay at POFQ but wanted to try someplace new and finally landed at POR. What section should I request I have a standard room booked

No need to request a section as you should be placed in Magnolia Bend building 80, or the rear halves or 85 or 90. Personally I would request a top floor river view.

I want to change my POR room request from 16 second floor, corner near pool and between bus and lobby, (per, I believe, your previous suggestion) to 25 second floor, non connecting because it says 25 has a 1/5 for quiet versus 3/5. We would love two windows (standard 5th sleeper) but don’t want the noise potential with connecting room. Do you know of any rooms that are second floor, corner not connecting? Also like that 25 is near bus stop. We are ok with walking to lobby as needed. This is a touring plans request. TIA!!

You could be overthinking it a bit... All of Riverside is pretty quiet to be honest, although 25 is more remote than most, and. Connecting or not makes very little difference as they are double doors, but I would suggest upper floor would make more of a difference.

These would be the mansion buildings correct?
The standard rooms are likely to be in the mansions section. But it isn't a guarantee and you can still be in Alligator Bayou. We never book a five-person room but have been put in AB a few times.

We will be checking in on Feb 1st with a standard reservation. We want to be in the mansions and will make that request. A river view would be nice.:)

I am what you may call an “anxious overthinker." :earboy2: I think I will stick with building 16, then, since it is at a nice midway point between lobby and bus and near pool!

We just got back from our second stay at Riverside - our first being last year - and man, we are obsessed!!!

We booked preferred rooms both times, with no preferences stated. Our stay last year we were placed in Alligator Bayou and loved it, this time we were placed in Magnolia Terrace (8744) and REALLY loved it.

The rooms and the grounds are just so beautiful, so serene. We had no issues with buses and never even had to stand, love the boat access to DS, love the pool and bar, love every cast member we've interacted with, just overall a resort we feel so immediately comfortable in!

That's a great location. Upper floor, nice side-on view of the river, and a really short walk across Ol' man Island to the main buildings. And the East Depot bus stop is just out the back of your building.

One more question-if we have groceries delivered from Garden Grocer, will they hold them for us and bring them to our room? At SSR they would bring us to our room on a golf cart with our groceries, but since POR is a moderate, I am not sure if they extend this type of service. TIA!

We are staying in August 2026. Thinking of requesting building 37, 38 or 39 given their proximity to north depot and access the the food court via ol man island. Thoughts on this approach? We have a fifth sleeper so I know we will be in alligator bayou. First time at PO

I like it. I prefer AB. My sweet spot is building 26. From there we use the West bus stop and don’t mind the scenic walk to the food court. I think your experience will be similar. If I recall you have a quiet pool in that area as well, which we enjoy more than the main pool.

YES! It was so convenient, a few steps from our door to the staircase and then the bridge to the lobby!

Thanks for your fantastic site by the way, started pouring over it when the post-POR-checkout depression hit me yesterday 🤣

We stayed there in August 2024 building 38. We loved it. We generally stay in mansion 85 but in August the AB pool was much quieter and cooler because of all the trees around it. Being at the North depot made a huge difference, going into the parks we were always the last ones to seat. Everyone coming in at East and South depot were standing. I would personally stay clear of the buildings near the west depot. Thats one of the spot where they put families with dogs. We had a few bad encounters while walking there or swimming in that pool. Lots of big dogs off leash. 2 Pittbulls jumped in the pool next to us, the owner could not control them. Everyone left the pool.

I hope you reported this, as per the Rules that the owner agreed to, dogs are meant to be on leashes the entire time that they are out of rooms, and are not permitted on the pool deck areas anyway.

Yes. If you collect your grocery deliveries from Bell Service yourself then there is no charge, But they can also deliver stuff directly to your room, while you are present, for a $6 handling fee.

Yes, I did. They said they were going to send someone. I don’t know if they did, I left the area as I felt a bit unsafe. No one followed up. The one thing I dislike with Riverside is their lack of follow up. Once someone entered my room, took the money meant for housekeeping but did not clean the room. I went to the lobby, they were quite dismissive, apparently the card reader wasn’t working so they could not access the log to see who got into my room. So my room wasn’t clean on the day it was supposed to, someone stole my money but absolutely no one apologize or seemed to care. It’s not the 10$ but the fact that an unknown person came into my room did god knows what and no one took responsabilities.

On another trip, we got back to the room around 11 pm, the ac unit was making a ridiculous amount of noise. We could hear it before we got to our room. Even when we tried to shut the ac it down, it wouldn’t stop. We called and they eventually sent someone, long story short they had to remove the ac unit and put a new one. Well after midnight, making a ton of noise. I understand they had to do it, my issue is that we had maintenance workers in our room until maybe 1:30 am and no one called the next day to check if it was ok now or to apologize.

And by the way we were staying in the Acadian house, near the pet relieve area and AB. Let’s say, once they opened the ac unit, I understood why I had been sneezing the entire week. It was completely covered in dog hair.

I love this hotel, but the customer service is not the best.

Personally, all of this sounds like a nightmare! We are staying at POR AB for the first time late February and this post makes me nervous. At all our stays at SSR, customer service was top notch! I am sorry you dealt with these issues. I would be livid about not getting 10.00 back.

But I must tell you that I stayed at POR at least 60 nights in the last 5 years, statistically, incidents will happen. Im leaving Sunday for 12 nights and I cannot wait. Do not be nervous, the pros outweigh the cons by a mile.

We had little incidents happened at values and deluxes also. Once, we checked in ASM and could not open the room with our magic bands or cards. I walked to the lobby, back and forth, four times! Always the same thing! By the fourth time, after a long flight, I didn’t find it funny anymore. Turned out, they changed our room number during the day but they were setting or magic bands and cards to the old room number. They gave us each a voucher for any quick service on property. That is good customer service to me.

Thank you for the reassurance. We have traveled to Disney a lot too (see signature) so I get that mistakes happen- part of life and travel. I am happy to hear that the majority of your trips have been successful because the resort is truly lovely and I am excited to come back since I haven’t been there since I was a kid and have fond memories!
