Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

My question: What room category do we choose in order to guarantee that we're going to get a room in a building with an elevator? Is there any way to guarantee this? Or is it just luck? Thanks!

By 2026 the room categories will have been adjusted down to five options.

As has been said, Royal Room would guarantee mansion building 95, but otherwise I'd suggest booking Standard Location which should normally be in the mansions (unless they have a capacity issue and upgrade you to a 5th Sleeper). Do not book 5th Sleeper as they have no elevators. Preferred Location will be a mix of both areas in 2026.

However if you are only concerned about arrival/departure luggage, don't let it worry you as Bell Services will take care of that for you. The Alligator Bayou lodges only have two floors, so day-to-day it's not an issue unless you have special mobility requirements or a stroller.

I love POR and AB but don’t really care for the Mansions. In the past I have booked 5th sleepers to insure I was placed in AB, but now I can’t do that because we are not a party of 5. I believe booking preferred location gets one placed in AB automatically, correct? Are all the non-preferred AB rooms 5th sleepers or can a couple still stay in AB without a preferred location?

Yes you can, the 5th Sleeper option has always been able to be booked by anyone - even a single occupant.

That’s strange. I thought they changed that policy earlier this year to make the 5th sleepers available for those that “need” them. I wonder what I am thinking of?

Currently any booking for five people (aged 3+) in Standard, Woods, Pool, or River will automatically result in an AB room. Same goes for three people in a King Bed booking. Preferred rooms are currently all in AB anyway. Royal options can only accept up to four people.

From next year, you won't be able to book Standard or Royal if you have five people, and booking five people in Preferred Location will ensure an AB room. Anyone can book a Standard 5th Sleeper, even with less than five people, if they want. King Bed is same as before, three people will mean an AB room.

We are looking to book Feb 22-27. What is the best way to get a renovated room (3 guests)? Thank you!

No one seems to have posted it here yet, but building 90 at Riverside re-opened on Friday. Rooms are very similar to the French Quarter refit, but they seem to have learned their lesson with the unpopular bench seat and the rooms have two chairs.

I saw pictures in a FB group and the rooms are gorgeous!

I can't find any pictures of the refurbishment. I'm guessing there aren't very many out there since its so new. If anyone finds them and would be kind enough to post them here, it would be appreciated!

Question, so I lucked out and was able to book two preferred rooms for the great Florida and Georgia resident rate of $199 for Christmas week! The only problem with that is I really dont like the AB area or rooms, I much prefer Mansions and the plus with Mansions is I will most likely get a refurbished room, dont need 5th sleeper. Do you think they would honor a request for Magnolia Bend if I booked preferred? Starting in Jan 2026, Mansions river side rooms will be included in preferred bookings so maybe I will have a shot??

And before anyone chimes in that I should have booked standard or woods view, the FL/GA rate is for preferred rooms only. Thanks

You can certainly ask, as what you are requesting is technically a downgrade so they might be able to do it for you and upgrade a guest who only has a Standard booking. As you say, in 2026 it will be easier as the new Preferred Location category which starts on 1st January will include rooms in both AB and MB.

I have found myself using this site again after a long time away. I am hoping I can get a quick answer regarding the Royal Rooms. A am currently booked at French Quarter and a Royal river room became available for my stay next week.

Are all the Royal rooms refurbished?

If you are looking at next week then the answer would be no. Currently, the refurbishment for the Royal rooms is scheduled for early 2026.
