Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Hi! I'm new to this board and I have some questions about room requests. We are traveling to WDW in June with extended family. It will be my family, my sister's family, and my parents. We have booked standard Royal Rooms for all of us (3 rooms). We would like rooms near each other (doesn't necessarily have to be connecting), close to the bus, and close to the food court. First floor or near the elevator would also be helpful because we will have strollers and my mom will have an ECV. I know most standard rooms are in the back of the building by the parking lot, so is there any point in asking to be close to things? Do some of the requests sort of cancel each other out? For example, if we ask to have rooms close to each other, will it be harder to get rooms closer to the bus stop? I hope this all makes sense!

Great info. I think I'm all set, Mansion's section but not a Royal Room. Definitely river view, just gotta make the decision between first and second but with an elevator, not that big of a deal, I guess.

Any other request that I should make??

Do you want to be close to the main building? If you do, make sure to requested it. Unless you have chosen a Royal Room, you could still end up pretty far out.

Make whatever requests you want in the order of priority. They will do their best to get you as much as they can, but you want them to know what is most important.

Definitely want to have a river view, close to foot bridges is what I'm being told. If that happens then should be close to everything?

What about the faxing of request. I plan to make the reservations by phone but I've seen where sending a fax is the most reliable way to get request. Any info on this?

You can request it, but all you are guaranteed is a river view if you reserve a river view room. The river goes all the way through the resort.

There are 3 floors in Mansions section I thought. 2 floors in Aligator Bayou

There are three floors in the central segment of the mansion buildings (which is where the elevators are located). However the nicest River View rooms are the ones at the end of the extended wings which directly overlook the river, and that part of the building has only two stories.

Thanks! I will have to discuss with my family to find out what is most important to us!

It looks like from the map that the lobby, store, and food court are all connected. Just out of curiosity, can you get from one to the other without going outside? Also, where is Boatwright's? Next to the food court?

Walking from the lobby, you would pass by Boatwrights before you get to the food court, and everything is connected indoors, so you don't have to go outside.

If you book River View at Riverside (it is a pre-booked premium price category, not just a request) then all of the rooms are very well located anyway, as they all face out over riverbank pathway pointed towards the centre of the resort. Even the mansion building River View rooms are still a short walk across the Ol' Man Island footbridge to the main buildings. Other than building 14, they are perhaps a bit more of a walk to the parking lots if you plan to drive.

See the first post in this thread, and also http://www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php, for info on making requests. Add the request verbally to your booking at first, and then send a fax 3-5 days before arrival.

I'm not a fan of the riverview rooms. While it isn't much of an extra charge, it also wasn't a view I was able to enjoy from my room and was a longer walk from the parking lot. We spend so little time in the room I don't find it to be worth it.

Just a little excitement post ! 9 days for us !Whoo Hoo

We booked through a TA, so I was finally able to call POR today & put in a room request. We booked pool view and requested ground floor, close to the food courts & transportation. There are 5 of us, so we will be in AB ! Cant wait to see where the put us.

The lady I talked with was super nice & very accommodating to our needs; traveling with a toddler & an elder person ground floor is most important to us.

Andre, your site is amazing & extremely helpful, thank for all your hard work.

Here's to a little extra pixie dust, hoping our request will be granted !!

It's a good idea to send a fax with your room requests too. You should send the fax 3-5 days before arrival, because that is when they look at their inventory and begin assigning rooms. A link to how to send a fax is included in Andre's post #3273 above. Enjoy your POR Disney vacation!

We were in Bldg 14, River view, 2nd floor. It was absolutely the best. We loved it and would definitely stay there again. However, there is never a guarantee in the bldg you are in.

Building 14 River View can be under a minute's walk to the food court. I made a little test video a while back in fact. I really must do some more proper videos.

Andre

Although we didn't clock it, I believe you are correct Andre. I'm sure we were in the food court in a minute or less. We are in a Royal Room, river view in Septemebr. Any suggestions as to what we should request for as close to the main bldg?
