So it looks like they have no plans to make Ole Man Island a zero entry pool like CBR then? Was kind of hoping they were.

This June will be our first week long trip to WDW. We've done 3 previous 2-4 nights following a Disney Cruise. This is our first non cruise trip. In the past we've always stayed at AKL, which we LOVE, but POR was so much less expensive when staying a whole week, so we're giving it a try, based on positive reviews. Has anyone stayed at both? Will we be terribly disappointed in the theming, given how magical AKL is? We are actually looking forward to spending time at the resort, so are hoping it will not disappoint in comparison. I'll be traveling with my 12 year old daughter. Thoughts?

Was there over the last week and there was much jack hammering in the pool area!!!
Is this something you would notice much around the resort if you weren't by the pool area? Can you hear the jack hammering from your room?
We go back & forth between POR and deluxe stays. Love POR. It's a beautiful resort with some extras like the boat to DTD, evening entertainment, and carriage rides. The only thing we miss is having a balcony. This June will be our first week long trip to WDW. We've done 3 previous 2-4 nights following a Disney Cruise. This is our first non cruise trip. We are staying at POR in August. Preferred room booked. What building would you suggest for a pool view (as we will use the pool a lot in August) that is the closest building to food court? The maps look like building 18 is our best bet, but want to ask the POR experts here (we are usually at POFQ). Also, my dad may come with us - he has difficulty with stairs. Is there an elevator or should we request ground floor? I think there are only 2 floors?
TIA for your help.
We didn't hear the jack hammering from our room. It was only obnoxious when my husband and I sat in the rocking chairs for morning coffee - on the back porch of the main lobby.
Where was your room?
Just ask for what you want - close to pool and food court - rather than a building number. There aren't elevators in the Alligator Bayou section (where all the preferred rooms are) so you should ask for ground floor.
Have request to be on ground floor noted on reservation because you need ECV. I'd also email resort room assignor 4 days ahead of arrival with your request. This will be my first POR visit, I am booked preferred, I can not do stairs and may be renting an ECV. Please advise me as to what to request and how??? March 1st is my check in date. We were at POFQ last 2 years third floor with ECV no problem. I did not realize there where resorts without elevators.
Thanks

I do online check in, then email room assignor 4 days before arrival. Our last stay we were in mansion section (by choice) but asked for a room near elevator and also near foot bridge. I explained in email that I had recent knee surgery. I was given a perfect location. It helps if they know why you are requesting a certain location and they're very good about trying to accommodate.Should I do online check in now or wait until the 4 day range to email/call resort before or after I have been reading the PO website soaking up info.
Thanks

Yes!! Sorry! That's exactly what I meant, oops. Fax!!!Do you mean fax your requests? I didn't think you could email the room assignor.
We were in AB building 18 on the pool side.
