Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

I am so happy! I booked a RR for two nights in May....garden view. I used the springtime discount rate. But I was just able to modify it, and moved to a pass holder rate for a river view room! And, it was $50 less! So excited!!

Sue, seeing your pictures is the first time I've wished we were still only 4 so we could stay in those buildings... that is unbelievable how beautiful that looks!

I have never stayed at POR before. However, after reading all about this resort here and on the Andre's website, I have decided this is the best option for our family. It was either POR, WL or OKW. I have a few questions though. My husband suffers from PTSD and anxiety. He needs to have a quiet resort. I know that POR, WL and OKW offer that. Since deciding on POR, what is the quietest most desolate building in AB? We have 5 so I am aware that is where we will stay. I was thinking building 24 and 34. Would that be correct? Which one is better? Also, if we requested this building, is there a highly likelihood it would be granted? I know people usually request rooms closer to the food court, so I am hoping that helps us out. Also, should I note on our reservation that with my husbands conditions it would help him greatly? Thank you for all your help!

I would think 25 would be better as it's not anywhere near a parking lot, and not much reason to walk past it.

I'm not sure as we always stay in the mansions, but I think the best thing in your case is not to request any particular building and on your reservation just note quiet location. Maybe 2nd floor as they have less foot traffic. But also no elevator.

About 5 days before arrival send POR room assignment team a fax explaining in more detail the medical reason for your request, husband with PTSD. They will find you the perfect location. I think POR room assignors really do a great job and take their guests needs seriously, especially if there's a medical reason involved.

Venom hatch has a thread about how to write faxes for POR & POFQ.

Sue, we will be arriving 2 weeks from today back for our 3rd stay at POR and a repeat in a RR. Was your room river view or garden view. I'm finalizing my picks for room request. Last time we had a river view in Parterre Place that was the perfect location. Thanks for the info. Can't wait!

I second requesting a quiet spot- they will have a better chance to guess the crowd they are surrounding you with than you will. If occupancy is not 100% they may also be able to pick a spot where they aren't putting many groups. If your luck is like mine you would pick a specific building and end up in the middle of a run of rooms for a high school band. They may guess wrong but they have better odds than you.

It was a garden view, was in the side of centre river side courtyard. Dead on view was of the fountain. But looking to the river we had a peek a boo view when out on the walkway. Very pleasant for a GV room.

We stayed in Building 25 back in 2002 and it was very quiet. I know that was quite a while ago but I can't imagine it changing much. I know that others like the convenience of being close to the food court but we enjoyed the walk.

Hello I just returned from our Spring Break Trip. The last 6 summers in a row we stayed at Yacht Club , Club level but this was a trip for DD and I and another family and we opted to try POFQ. I couldn't have asked for more. Obviously my favorite resort remains YC BUT PoFQ delivered. We had building 4 connecting rooms and were so close to the food court and so close to the check in house and pool. Everything was literally RIGHT THERE including the resort's only bus stop. Building 4 was perfect! Room was very clean. Cutely decorated, little smaller than what I was use to but with only DD and I in the room not an issue.

Cons: Again having stayed at YC we always walked to Epcot and took the little boat to DHS. So I was a little unprepeared for the transportation issue. I GATHER that in the morning it is a direct shot from POFQ to the parks. However if you decide to head over say at 11, be prepared for making the rounds at POR Riverside. WE had an easy great trip to MK bc we left at 6 AM, easy trip to DHS however we did half day late arrival at AK and it took 72 minutes to get there once on the bus. Stopped everywere thru POR RIVERSIDE and Blizzard Beach THEN AK. Maddening. Then the Epcot bus simply wasn't showing the next day despite seeing 1 MK buses and 2 DHS yet Ecpot had the early open that morning? Made no sense. Luckily we grabbed a cab for 10 bucks and all was well.

Food court was packed but I was glad to have a food court since most deluxes do not hence why I stay club level. But DD and friends enjoyed going here often but I didn't think food was that great at all but pretty much what I would expect from a counter service anywhere.

All in all a great trip and I would definitely consider it for the future all girls trip again!

We loved building 4 location. Had a corner room right above food court! I agree, the bus to AK & Bluzzard beach Is a pain no matter which resort you leave from! But I'm just happy if going to BB I can get there from resort bus and not have to get off at Epcot and change. Especially on the way home, wet!!

We just got back from a Spring Break trip. We booked a Royal Room Garden View and I faxed a request for ground floor, corner room as close to Ol Man Island as possible. Imagine my surprise when we arrived and our room faced the Sassagoula River. It was a nice upgrade! I just wanted to say thanks for the information about faxing in room requests. I think it made the difference for us!

A quick question......I have a river view RR booked in May. When I did on-line check-in, I requested upper floor, corner room. Should I still send a fax in? I imagine that the river view rooms are going to be as close as possible to the front of the bldgs, so I should be go fairly close to a bridge, correct?

Fax! We once had a River View and was put in the furthest part of Parterre Place. We were almost in FQ  I'd request near foot bridge.

@StatlerNotWaldorf I had no problems with the buses on our trip in November 2012. It was a little crowded at peak hours, but nothing that was a deal breaker. We started staying there for the very reason you posted. POP's buses were always super crowded and the reseort itself had way too many people for me. The food court was always slammed. It seems like there are more frequent buses for POR than POP, which may be why they were less crowded.

I agree that this is a fantastic thread! Lots of great info!

Will do then. To those who know best....what exactly should I ask for? Close to a footbridge? We're there for just two nights, so I don't want to spend a ton of time walking back and forth to the room!
