Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Question - last year when we got off of DME at POR a CM was waiting for us with our name on a board and the letter from Tiana (we stayed in a RR) and my daughter's bday button. My DD loved that and felt so special. Is there any chance that would happen again if I do not check the box that I am ok with getting a text and going straight to room? Of course - my concern with that is I do not really want to go to the main desk either - the iPad check in was the perfect "in the middle"...thoughts, comments, etc

everyone has different opinions on what is best building. I recommend checking out the resort map and deciding for yourself!!

It possible that will happen again, but also possible that it won't. It's these little unexpected things that makes Disney so special. You never know when you will get some pixie dust. If it's a given, it tends to lose a little magic.

Hi all!

Well, back to the forums full force as we are Disney planning again! Have just decided to book a Nov trip this year and ofcourse POR will be our first resort choice!
Our last trip was made super magical with all the help from the kind folks here as well as Andre and Venom!
Looking forward to continued reading to see whats new since 2013 ;-)

On Monday we returned home from a long weekend trip to POR. We had Good Friday off from work. We flew in late on Thursday night, returning home early Monday morning. We had just 3 full days at WDW because we are adopting kids from Colombia this year and are saving vacation time for that long trip.

Overall, as usual POR was wonderful!

The lines in Food Court were not too bad, considering it was Easter weekend. Only the pizza line was way too long, they don't have enough space or staff in that area. Also, I noticed that the pickup area for the make-your-own pasta is only a 5" wide shelf running front-to-back. As usual, they still play the annoying "down by the riverside" music occasionally, but at least I didn't see the staff parading around to it.

Yehaw Bob was great, as always. We ran across Spencer, our favorite bar waitress again. She is friendly, stinkin' cute, and has long dark hair... definitely say hello if you see her.

On Saturday morning we got up crazy early for a 7:15 am breakfast reservation at Crystal Palace. They let us in MK before it opened, and it was so nice to walk down Main Street with only a few CM's around to say Good Morning. We were the first to check-in at Crystal Palace, the first to be seated, and they gave us a nice certificate for the honor.

Buses were fine. We had to wait too long once, while returning from Epcot to POR.

We have stayed at most (maybe all?) of the Value and Moderate resorts, and POR is definitely our favorite. I'm way too cheap to pay for a Deluxe!

We arrive in a few weeks and want to get some clarification on a few things,

First- Seeing as we have done our online check in we skip the check in desk entirely. RIght? We just get the message on the phone and just go to our room. correct?

Second- We are driving but would prefer if Baggage services would be able to help bring our luggage to our room. I assume this wouldn't be an issue but I am wondering what the best method to have them assist would be.

Thanks!

1) It's not guaranteed, but most people who have done online checkin, registered their credit card onto the account for payments, and received their magic bands in advance (so no international guests) should be offered this facility. If so, you'll be contacted shortly beforehand.

2) The normal way is to drop your bags off at Bell Services (in front of the main entrance lobby) and then when you get to your room give them a call and they'll bring them up for you.

The sticks and marshmallows are provided. You will have to bring, or purchase in the gift ship, the chocolate and graham crackers.

Thanks Sue! I can't wait to get back to POR and stay in a RR in just over a month. Your photos are beautiful!!

So excited to be returning to POR in June! Will be in town (solo, most likely) for a business conference and decided to stay for an extended weekend to get my Disney fix. The only availability within budget was Coronado or POR RR-GV. Coronado was better for my budget, so I took it. Even so, I had been checking POR rates every day; lo and behold, this morning, a standard room was open, so I immediately booked it! I saved a total of $8 from my original CSR booking :rotfl:

Last time I was in POR, I followed instructions to fax room requests, and we were pixie dusted with a lovely and quiet GV room in building 39. I absolutely love AB and would love to stay there again, but I think I just may leave it up to the CMs to place me where they see fit. I'm just extremely happy to be back at POR!
