Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Hi! We have a preferred room booked for September. Is there a self service laundry at the quiet pool near those buildings? Thanks. :)

We are reading on moderate resorts and one thing that scare us is having to walk far in August (hot, humid if not pouring).
We would not book Royal or Preferred room in order to save money. So reading that we would have a good chance to get Acadian House or Magnolia terrace if we request it properly is a good news!
I request either of those 2 buildings and also request a location near the Old Man Island foot bridge. So room location will be on the side of the building closest to bridge. A standard view will most likely be in the back parking lot side, but hopefully on the end of building closest to bridge. In my 5 stays once I didn't get my request. Not bad.
Be sure you have request noted on reservation, and send a fax to room assignors 4/5 days before check in.

So, I requested high floor/corner room and I booked a garden view room. Will I be most likely staying in the mansion themed buildings? Thanks.

It'd be about 50/50. There are more regular Alligator Bayou rooms than there are mansion building rooms, but that is offset by the fact that some of the available AB rooms will need to be specifically allocated for families of five. Until July, some of the mansions building rooms in Magnolia Terrace will be unavailable due to roofing work there, so that might push the general likelihood slightly towards being given an AB room, but not by much.

This is our first time travelling with a really little one. I just called to put in my request for a pack and play. The very nice CM who helped told me it wasn't guaranteed. Has anyone ever not received one? My youngest will be 18 months and needs a contained place to sleep. We are not flying, so bringing our own isn't an option. Can anyone reassure me that I will be getting a pack and play? Thank you :)

We've never had an issue requesting one and getting it. Once it wasn't in the room upon our arrival after I had requested it. I just called the front desk and the delivered one promptly.

Wait, are you in fact driving? We always drive and pack a pack n play. I've never heard of someone not getting one to be honest, but then again, we always pack ours as we drive as well and it's not a huge deal to put in the car. However, we were thinking our May trip would be our first "we don't pack the pack n play" trip. Guess I'll see what they say since we won't be at Riverside. But I've never heard of it being an issue.

Sorry, no. Meant to say we are NOT driving. We will be flying, so bringing our own isn't an option.

Thanks for the info. Very much appreciated. I really don't mind which building I stay in, but was just curious.

If you haven't heard about this before, here is a link to being able to see specific laundry facilities at Disney. You can check if some machines are available, if your load is done, or if it is still running (including how much time is left). It is a great tool to have for your Disney vacation!

That's great, thanks! I usually stay at POFQ where you now use a credit card in the laundry, is it the same at POR?

Gotcha! Thought I was reading it weird! I have never heard of someone not getting one to be honest so I wouldn't worry too much about it honestly.

I'm staying at POR for the first time in July. I was at Wlderness Lodge on our last trip and loved it. Prior to that we had only stayed at All Star Movies. We moved out of value resort when my boys got bigger. The beds were just not big enough. I have always been intrigued by POR so I'm so excited to try it.

We absolutely loved WL, so I was worried about being let down with POR, but reading all the reviews has me wishing my trip would come sooner. We go for 2 weeks so have a lot of resort time. We have booked preffered so will be in AB (which appeals to me more than the mansions)

One concern I had was the outdoor corridors. We are going in July. It's so hot. I appreciated having the indoor corridors at WL for the AC when we went in August. However, we have preferred so will be close to main building. And we have rented a car for this trip so won't rely on buses. We like to hop to water parks in the afternoon. A car makes that so much easier.

I predict that you will love POR! What is nice about the outside entrances is that the doors are heavy and much more sound proof. It was very very quiet in our room. We are in our way home now and had a great stay at POR. Wouldn't hesitate to book it again.

When we stayed at POR the last time, it was very quiet. We didn't hear the people on either side of us and we didn't hear anyone walk by our room either.

We had them at West Depot this week.

Great to know! Thank you!

Does Yee Haw Bob have a show every night? We have Tuesday and Saturday as our resort days trying to decide when to fit his show in.

You can see what nights and times he is doing his show during your trip by going to your itinerary in your MDE account and check on the list of resort activities for each day of your trip. :)

But in general he does two shows a night from Wednesday through Saturday nights. :)

Check the dates for Yee Haa Bob. I'm going in late May and he's only there on Thursday and then the following Wednesday. (I'm traveling Thursday to Thursday and he is doing a wedding out of town the weekend I'm there.)
Here's his website: http://www.yehaabob.com/

We are there at the same time. I am hoping we can catch him on either the 18th or the 19th! We always seem to miss him, but this time I think it may work - even with hime being gone on the weekend.
