Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I wonder if the schedule is on the port Orleans website.
This is the site I've been watching the last few days (portorleans.org) but nothing that I've found yet. I think this site usually posts around 2 weeks prior to next month, but I can't remember for sure. I will continue to keep an eye on it:-)

We are staying at POFQ next month -- our first time there, but my parents have been before (they're going with us). We were booked for standard rooms but yesterday my Dad asked me to add another night for them, and so we had to move to a different room category because they didn't have standard rooms available at the military discount for the additional night. We were trying to change to river view (the views really do look gorgeous!) but ended up having to go with pool view because of availability. I'm worried about the noise level in the pool view rooms....we had terrible problems with noise at the value resorts when we stayed in a pool view room (I will never do that at a value resort again!)...so I'm worried about that. I'm a very light sleeper and I'm wondering how much additional lighting there is at the pool at night and how loud it might be.....

So excited I just added on 2 nights to our stay and couldn't get a room at All Star Music where we're staying so I upgraded and we're going French Quarter! We stayed at Riverside in November 2012 right after the refurbishment. I'm excited to be staying in the other part of Port Orleans.

Is there a photo thread for POFQ??? I love to see everyone's different views of the resort!!!

Quick question....I know POFQ has been excluded from free dining promotions the last couple of years in the fall (except for Bouncebacks). We booked a bounceback for FD at POFQ this September. I have stayed at resorts that are at capacity because they offer free dining....do you think because POFQ was excluded from free dining, that it won't be filled to capacity because they weren't offering promotions for it or not necessarily (maybe they didn't offer the FD promotion because they were already booked)? I know that last year, Riverside was excluded from the promotion so maybe if you stayed at Riverside or POFQ when free dining wasn't offered, you can give some insight and tell me if you felt the resort wasn't as busy as it can be during normal seasons. Thanks!

I do know that occupancy levels at Port Orleans dropped slightly when the Free Dining offer was released but they were excluded from the offer (as some people quickly re-booked at other resorts) but although the concern was raised with the teams running the promotion they reckoned that the overall impact was very much as expected and they were happy with the way the offer was driving business.

How that affects the likelihood of future offers at Port Orleans I have no idea though.

We are considering POFQ for our next visit in March 2016 however I am a bit nervous with the bus system. We stayed at CBR this past year and even though we loved the resort, we lost precious time travelling around the whole resort making numerous stops. Does POFQ shared their bus with POR?( I'm also considering POP just to avoid the numerous bus stops!)
Also, we took advantage of the Stay, Play and Dine package this year. Is POFQ excluded from this offer or just free dining?
Also, any advice for the best building would be appreciated! Thinking either Garden or River view.

Just decided to change my POR ressie for November back to POFQ since it opened up for all the dates!! :)

For bus info, it does vary by park and time of day (MK always has separate buses, DTD never, and the others generally share during non-peak times). See the updates I just added to http://www.portorleans.org/buses.php

PFQ is pretty small so building requests are not generally needed, but 4 and 5 are popular locations if you want Garden View fairly near to the main building and the only bus stop.

We've stayed at POFQ twice now and our experience was that we very, very seldom shared buses with POR. Each week we stayed, I think it was only one or two times and those were always at mid-day, not at park open or close. And if you're considering POP for the one bus stop, just keep in mind how HUGE Pop is! Yes, there's only one stop, but you have twice as many people using that one stop!

And, honestly, there isn't a bad location anywhere at POFQ!

So true. I love POP because I have had good experiences there not because it does not share buses. There is nothing worse than carrying a four year old and pushing a stroller at the end of a long park day. Many rooms are quite far from the one bus stop. Also with POP having its own bus there are still probably 3 times the people waiting for that one bus.

I've been reading this thread for awhile now and want everyone to know I'm really getting excited to stay at pOFQ. I'll have my mom and granddaughter with me. My daughter (the aunt) got a new job so she won't be going.:( I'm excited to hear that we won't be sharing buses. My granddaughter ip just turned 3 so I know we'll have a stroller...this will be our first time at FQ.

Is there one of the new screens that gives you the times for arriving buses at the bus stop? We typically drive but whenever we decide to bus we always feel like we could have driven faster.. it would be nice to have an idea of if it's worth waiting for or just going ahead and driving. Thanks!

Didn't have one last year and I haven't seen anything since saying they had one. We use MDE so driving isn't an option but from everything I've read, taking the bus to MK is the better option since the bus drops you off near the entrance. Driving you need the ferry or monorail.

No, the only wait-time screen at Port Orleans is at Riverside's South Depot. Apart from the MK is it usually quicker to drive, if speed is your only goal that is.

If anyone here as ever stayed in the pool view rooms before, ground floor -- how loud was it at night? How about extra lighting from the pool -- do the curtains/blinds in the room block it out?
