Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Summerlady, I love that Boatwright's cornbread! And that is a great location; I was upstairs in that same "block" (5344) my first POFQ stay.

Have a great trip!

We have a CP ressie one hour before the park opening. I noticed on the front page busses run starting one hour before opening. Would our best bet be to take a taxi, or are there other options?

We did that exact route a month ago, for a BoG reservation. Normally, POFQ and POR don't share buses for the MK, but very early in the morning the first few buses sometimes do, and it did in this case. This is what I logged:

Weds 19 Aug, POR South Depot to MK
Got to POR South Depot at 6:53am
MK bus arrives (apparently it came from POFQ a few minutes earlier) at 6:56am, and departs from the South Depot at 6:59am
POR West Depot: 7:01am
POR North Depot: 7:03am
POR East Depot: 7:05am
Leaves Port Orleans grounds: 7:06am
Arrives MK: 7:16am

Are the POFQ food court CMs up to date with the new substitution policy on the dining plan? I plan on having beignets as my "drink" any chance I get :teeth:

58 more hours and we'll be at POFQ (hopefully checking into our room) dropping our bags off and head over to Epcot for lunch. This will be my DMIL & DFIL's first trip with us to WDW (also their first trip since their honeymoon). It will be their first stay at POFQ too. Lots of new things for them this trip.

We had an 8:10 am ADR at the Crystal Palace and the bus picked up at just a bit after 7 and went directly to the MK without going to POR.

Would anyone know where to send a compliment about a particular CM at French Quarter? To the hotel or to Disney management/ which would be most effective? Thanks.

Hello Does anyone know if you can still get a rollaway bed at the French Quarter? A few years back when we stayed there we were able to have a rollaway bed sent to our room. Thank you

Send to the normal wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com email, or you could write to the hotel General Manager directly if you prefer (an actual physical letter would be a nice touch, the address is in the first post of this thread).

No, that is no longer possible. You could take your own inflatable single-sized mattress if you like though (but the occupancy limit would still be four people).

Thank you for letting me know. My boys are older now and prefer not to sleep in the same bed. I was hoping not to bring an air mattress with us but looks like I will need to . Thank you for your help.

Did they change the recipe on the beignets? lol Last month they didn't taste ANYTHING like they have the past few years. We were really disappointed!

We got home Sunday night after an AWESOME week at POFQ. Everything was wonderful, the mousekeeper(s) did a fantastic job every day, the resort CMs were helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Except for information about the boats to DTD's Westside, nobody seemed to know anything about it at the resort so we just winged it on our own and hoped for the best. We had Cirque tickets so took the boat to the Marketplace and the captain kindly took us directly to the Westside after asking the other passengers if anyone minded a slight detour! Very nice of him. When we left to go to WPE at the Marketplace after the show, we just took the boat from the Westside and then the Marketplace boat back to POFQ. I had the biegnets during our visit and actually thought that they were much better than in the past nine visits that I've had them. ;) One night when we had dinner at the foodcourt I was able to sub my dining plan dessert for chicken gumbo, which was DELICIOUS! Booked bounceback for next year, was told POFQ was not participating next year so booked POR preferred instead. Hopefully I'll get a PIN for FD and can switch back to POFQ, it's happened to me before. All in all, a great trip with relatively low crowds, fantastic table service dinners (Boatwright's was outstanding, as was 'Ohana, Tusker House, Crystal Palace, Biergarten, and Chefs De France) (La Hacienda was horrible, pre-made food and stale desserts). For some reason people seemed more polite, I don't know if it's the lack of frustration because lines are shorter in September or what. No line cutting, no blocking views of parades or shows, no nasty language overheard, nobody whacking their kids. Twice I was offered a seat on crowded buses by men, I'm not elderly (well, I'm not a spring chicken but I'm not old-old) or disabled. I was so surprised that I declined the offers! I should have taken the seats, silly me. Can't wait to get back next September. :)
