Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I was in building 7, which is the closest FQ building to POR, and it took 12 minutes at a normal pace to walk from my room to the lobby at POR. Unfortunately, the days they did FQ last, they started with the West Depot, then did North, East, then South right before FQ, so it wouldn't have really saved any time. If they started with South, and were doing FQ last, then it might be worth your while (depending on which building you were in at FQ).

Trying to plan a "honeymoon" for my husband and I for October 2015 (we eloped and never too a honeymoon). I have stayed at all of the mods except FQ so had decided to book there (but hadn't booked yet). But reading the past few pages of this thread has me quite uncertain now - critters and poor quality food? :confused3

The only "critters" I saw were rabbits and squirrels, and I didn't think the food was bad at all. Every person's experience is going to be different, but I really don't think you can go wrong with POFQ. I do recommend requesting a top floor room so you don't have anyone above you (I think I had a herd of wildebeast over my head at AoA last time, lol!). If you are expecting gourmet food at a food court, you might be disappointed. I went into it expecting food court quality food and was pleasantly surprised. I have stayed at nearly every WDW resort, and had great vacations in all of them, even the ones with lots of bad press on the resorts board.

I only use the food court for breakfast but have been perfectly happy with it. It's QS breakfast. I've only stayed at POFQ in February(s), but have not seen any "critters." And if you read enough threads, I think you'll hear stories of "critters" from every resort.

When i was there in January, i didn't see/notice any critters and i wasn't really on the look out for them. I ate at the food court during breakfast and dinner. The breakfast seems to be typical Disney stuff. Dinner was okay, just depends on what you get. Plus there are tons of options at DTD, so you can always just take the boat over there for dinner.

:thanks: Thanks for the input everyone! I have been reading around the resort board and also the adults/solo travelers board and worries about critters and bad food seems to be an exception. So now I am back to being excited about booking a trip to FQ and hoping to book in the next week.

Arrived yesterday. Lovely resort with nice shady "streets" between buildings. Got a text as we got off the plane saying our room wasn't ready which was fine. Got to resort, had lunch at food court and hit the pool. Got the room text around 2. Building 5 facing the green where they show movies. Perfect location- very close to his and pool with little noise. Great trip this far!!!

That's where I was on my first POFQ stay - loved that location! Hope you continue to have a great trip!

May I ask about how long from the time our flight lands until we get to the hotel with Magical Express?

Just booked my first stay at POFQ! I'm usually a Pop or AKL girl depending, so I am excited to try something new. It was only $24 more per night than Pop so seemed worth a go. I hope I love it, I know it gets rave reviews! April 14-16.

:wave2: can anyone tell me if the boat goes to Old Key West? My DD and i were at FQ over Xmas to NYE and did take the boat to DTD. I just don't know about OKW. Hubby and i will be going back for Food & Wine and MNSSHP:dance3::yay: (our fav time of year) and we would love to have breakfast at Olivia's.

Thank You

What time do you all recommend getting on the bus to be at a 9am rope drop at MK?

If you want to be near the front, get to the bus stop 90 minutes before park opening time. If you just want to be there in time to see the opening show, 60 mins should probably be safe.

Andre
