Is anyone able to respond from an "always stay Deluxe" point of view? Or I should say the past 7 years or so has been Deluxe. One time, years ago I stayed at CBR. We will be there over Thanksgiving week and just couldn't justify the cost of Beach Club that we had reserved. I just changed it over to POFQ, never been there but am very excited to see it! It will be myself, husband and 20 year old daughter flying down from Penn State for the holiday. I don't mean for it to come out snobby at all, we're pretty down to earth people but I do love me a nice hotel room...... I also have the new JW Marriott booked as well as the Swan standard room. I want to drop 2 of the reservations this week. thank you for your thoughts! **Also, when was the last time the resort was open?
The last time the Resort was open… was when all the Resorts closed. However, POFQ will be clean, and ready for occupancy when it reopens on Oct 28th. Personally, I would happily stay there first day open if I had the chance!
As far as Deluxe vs. POFQ, what you need to remember is that while the Moderate class at WDW (in general) does not have *all* the amenities of a Deluxe, what they all do have is excellent theming, and POFQ shines here. You *will* feel the N’awlins vibe, I promise; as someone who had the good fortune to spend a lot of time in the French Quarter in my (allegedly squeeky clean) youth, I can tell you that Disney got the “feel” in the building facades, and the music. It’s the French Quarter of everyone’s dreams LOL
Remember that POFQ has rooms that are the same size as WL (WL was originally built to be a Moderate) and so they will feel pretty generous. There was a fairly recent room refresh (prior to the pandemic) and all of the rooms have hard floors now, and while the theming here is not as overt as it is outside, it’s definitely *not* a “generic” hotel room. Although you do not have the interior corridors of a Deluxe, nor do you have a private patio or balcony, (and let’s remember some of Beach Club’s rooms have no balcony, or those little “demi” balcony’s that are just… a place for one person to stand) generally speaking our family does not spend enough time lounging about on either patio or balcony when we stay Deluxe; really we should just stay Value, because the room becomes a convenient place to shower, change clothes and sleep!

There are plenty of spots by the pool to lounge outdoors, (and did I mention, the laundry is right next to the pool - and the pool lounge? Makes laundry day *so* much more fun! LOL) and Scat Cats, and the main building have plenty of spots to lounge about indoors. The food at POFQ is consistently good as well; overall the Sassagoula Floatworks is probably one of the best QS on property for my money.
But my favorite thing about POFQ is the Sassagoula Fleet. It’s silly, I know, but it makes my heart so happy to take that little boat ride down that lazy little river to Disney Springs. It means that even though we aren’t in a theme park, good food, shopping and fun are ahead! It’s relaxing and a delightful way to get back and forth from Disney Springs (where we tend to wind up almost every day at least once!)
Personally, I think you should try POFQ; it’s the smallest Resort at WDW, and so it feels more intimate, and even if you get a “standard” view, it’s not too shabby, because there is so much greenery surrounding the parking lots.
There’s a reason that the folks in this forum are all so passionate about POFQ…
I’ve seen on the wine & dine thread a good amount of people booked for riverside being upgraded… what are the odds of that happen being booked at french quarter that weekend
It’s my understanding that there was a glitch in matrix because of some backstage issues when PORs booking went live. The chances of getting moved from a POFQ reservation are not necessarily better than any other time in history. I believe they have found and fixed the POR problem. Admittedly that’s 3rd-hand information, but I still wouldn’t hold my breath.
