Hi Everyone! We're going to be spending Christmas :santa: and my sons birthday :wizard: at Pop Century. Do they do anything special for Christmas morning or for an 8 yr olds birthday? Thanks for your help!

Hi Debbie,
The entire wdw resort goes into holiday mode right after Thanksgiving. The resorts are decorated, as are the parks. It's a great time to go.

As for POP, you can see alot of photos of wdw and the various resorts decorated for the holidays here :

You could try asking at the POP check-in area about having balloons sent to your room for your son's birthday ? Also, maybe leave a note for the mousekeeper, mentioning it's son's 8th birthday ? They might do something cute with towel animals or something ?

Disney doesn't go out and do anything particularily special for birthdays.....I have booked dinners at Chef Mickey, Whispering Canyon Cafe and Crystal Palace in the past for my kids and the CM's did come to the table and sing "happy birthday" to them (at Whispering Canyone they got the whole restaurant to sing to my son). The kids got free birthday cupcakes at Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's for their birthdays. At Chef Mickey's it was particularily festive, because Minnie danced around our table in circles, and got the whole restaurant to wave their napkins in the air for my dd's. You need to mention the birthday celebration when you make the dining reservations (which you should do NOW), and then again remind them when you check in at the podium for your meal.

Also, stop by City Hall on Main Street in the MK. They used to give out a special pin your ds could wear that says "it's my birthday". He'll most like get several well-wishes from other guests and CM's that spot the button.

Have a great trip.

You can also pick up a birthday button at POP at the conciege area near thecheck-in area. My DD and I both celebrated our b-days on our last trip. Got a lot of Happy B-days from CM's and even characters. Got a B-day cake for DD at LTT for $12.95 and everyone came over and sang to her.

We just spent our sons 13th birthday this past Dec at Pop Century. I made sure to tell them, when making our reservation over the phone, that it was his birthday. At check in they said, "Hey I notice we have a birthday boy with us." He was surprised! They gave him a button without asking for one and just made small talk with him but made sure to ask who was his favorite character. Later that night we returned to our room after swimming to find that Goofy had left balloons and an autographed photo of himself wishing our son a Happy Birthday. We also saw we had a message on our phone that was also Goofy and the gang wishing him a Happy Birthday. I had arranged for a special chocolate chip cookie cake to be made up for him. It was great! I do believe it was his best birthday ever. Having a December birthday in Ohio can be depressing with the cold weather or snow or ice storms. He was on cloud 9 swimming in a pool outdoors and being at Disney. Talk about a dream come true. Your son will never forget this trip.:cloud9:

Thanks so much everyone for your input. We're really looking forward to it and I know what you mean about a December birthday. Both my husband and son have December birthdays. My Sons birthday last year wasnt quite the way his birthday was planned as there were 3 birthdays that day and only a few kids could make it. SO this year we'll have fun, fun! FUN!! He'll love it.

Thanks again

Hi Debbie, and welcome to the DIS!

I'm going to pop your question over to the Disney Resorts Board:)

...our twin sons' celebrated their 8th birthdays at WDW - it was wonderful.
Have a fabulous trip!!

:sunny:

thanks MBB I really appreciate everyones input. Looking forward to this holiday if anyone can give me some hints on different things it would be great. We've been at Magic Kingdom twice already but not at the other places. I also enjoy all the icons and things you guys have beside your names. I'm *earning my ears* which i'm not sure what that means lol but anyways. Thanks again.
