Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

Never stayed at Pop, looking for advice for room location request. We are going to be staying only two nights in January to help offset the cost of the rest of the time at Yacht Club. We have a preferred room booked. I know preferred will have the best location in general, but just looking for the best area to choose for the walk to the bus.

I was thinking 70s. Would a cut through the parking lot or through the food court work to get to the buses easier? Also, there isn’t a pool so I feel it may not be as loud, but open to suggestions.
Just quoting myself to mention the room we ended up having we really liked. They released some standard rooms, so I switched to that, and the only request I had was 1st floor. We ended up in 2115 in the 50s section on the backside. We liked it because it was quiet, and the walk to the buses wasn’t bad at all. I’d recommend trying to get his area if you’re looking for somewhere that doesn’t have heavy foot traffic.

It’s always hard going from deluxe to value though. It’s just a completely different vibe. I don’t think I could spend a week at a value, but for a couple nights it’s perfectly fine. I was really impressed with the buses since the skyliner was closed. We didn’t wait long at all at any point. And even for the food court being packed both evenings we didn’t have much of an issue with lines/waits.

I recently have seen reels which show the newly refurbished rooms at Pop. Some of the bathrooms have Shower/Tub Combos and some have only Showers. Is there a particular section where there will be a bathtub? We are traveling with a child who would need a tub. Thank you.
You can go in the chat and ask that they put in a request for you to have a bathtub.

I would love to be able to see the lake whenever we leave/come back to our room, and tried to change our room from standard to preferred (trying to narrow the number of rooms to choose from), but there weren't any preferred rooms left for our bounceback dates. The cast member I spoke with on the phone added a note to our reservation saying we would like to have a lakeview room, I know it's not a category option and requests are not guaranteed. Should I leave it at that, do online check-in and choose 50s and 70s for section requests, or submit a touring plans room request?

Personally, I would leave your only request as 'lakeview'. It seems the more requests you add, the more they look to fulfill at least one of the requests.

My recommendation would be to do a room request via Touring Plans, choosing a lakeview room in building 2 or 3. Building 2 is further away from buses, Skyliner and Classic Hall so does not have as many people who request it.

A lakeview room is very pretty for sure as you arrive and leave from your room.

Fantastic, thank you :)

Maybe this is less of a POP specific question but I recently got one of those "limited time offer" emails regarding my April reservation where they gave me two choices to "upgrade" my stay (neither were really all that great). It got me thinking, does that mean POP is overbooked?

Also @disneyjr77 to add to @scrappinginontario post if you happen to get building 6 ask if it's Lakeview. I have had Lakeview rooms a couple of times there. There aren't as many as building 3 but building 6 is much closer to everything than building 2. My one stay in building 2 had a Lakeview and was nice had a walk in shower also but the walk was a bit farther than the other buildings. But after staying in an AOA LM room building 2 at Pop was just fine. But I agree having a Lakeview room is really nice. Yes it's nice to get your room request but regardless I always remember I am at Disney staying at my favorite resort. POP Enjoy your stay

I feel like they almost always send those. Pop is probably pretty full, but I think more likely is that Port Orleans Riverside and Coronado (usually the 2 offered) are underbooked. It never seems to be a very good deal. It is just barely under what you would have paid to book those originally, but the marketing idea is that it seems like a deal to people so they book it.

I agree.

I have not received one of those offers but if I did, personally I would not use it. The Skyliner is a game changer for us and the loss of that is not worth the 'upgrade' to either of those resorts. Also, we stay for 9-11 nights when we go so the Skyliner is used often for dining options, etc. If it was a shorter trip I might be a little more tempted to give it a try.

Well @byurick even if Pop is overbooked I wouldn't switch. With the skyliner and the updated rooms and food court Pop is still the best resort for me especially the type of trip my husband and I do. Besides Pop never feels over crowded to me. Even the one time many years ago I was there the same time as the 15's and some cheerleaders. So I say stay and enjoy.
