Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

Arrived today. In the 80s section, quick walk to Classic Hall, little longer to skyliner but it's a nice walk! Everything Pop looks amazing but it is DEAD! Prime meal time, like 5 ppl in line. Definitely odd.

Boma was dead tonight, too. Strange.
What time was prime meal time? Pop food court doesnt really get busy at typical dinner time

No other hotel on earth would advise anyone the pool bar will be closed for renovation.
Yes they would. I’ve gotten emails from hotels that their parking lot is undergoing renovation and promptly switched hotels. I’ve gotten emails regarding pool closures and all that also, this are mainly Marriott’s though. Not sure if low tier hotels do the same but I’ve come to expect the notice. They also offer discounts for the issue and/or points. If the gym is closed they have even partnered with nearby gyms to get guests access

I believe @gottalovepluto is meaning other hotels would not share about a bar being closed for purely the reason you describe in that guests may change their reservations.

I appreciate that Disney resorts are transparent about their renovations.

I don’t believe many resorts run at 100% capacity all year long. Pop rarely has capacity to accept reservations with short notice so it’s not easy for them to move people around.

They provide timely updates normally to allow guests to make adjustments as they wish.

I for one am excited for all the updates they continue to make as Pop will soon be a completely renovated wonderful resort!!

Yes they would share that information. I’ve experienced it in the past. Hotels don’t want you to show up and be surprised and pissed. Most reputable hotel companies are even more transparent. I also like the updates but if something I like is closed I pick somewhere else.

We live in different worlds. I have still not quite forgiven JW Bonnet Creek for not telling me their only dinner restaurant (at that time anyway) would be under construction. But boy did that keep their bar hoping those nights 🤣

Pop food court is busiest in the early AM (7-9AM) and later in the evening (7PM-11PM). There are always people there but prime busy periods do not follow ‘normal’ meal times at home.
Interesting that the Pop food court has seemed empty every time we have gone in there in comparison to the Landscape of flavors food court over at AOA. They do have a few more food choices and food is served on actual plates/bowls as opposed to cardboard boxes/bowls at Pop. We definitely prefer going over there.

I checked into Pop yesterday. I had booked a preferred room. I requested building 4 or 6 and a high floor. I received building 1, first floor 😅. It’s convenient to refill my drink and get food, so it’s fine. The rest of my party, who booked regular rooms, are three rooms away from me with a much better view ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . Re: room noise. I heard people walking past my room until midnight, and most people thought it was a good idea to yell or otherwise be as loud as possible. Then, I found that I could hear the room above me use their toilet. I don’t mean flush the toilet, which I could also hear, I mean use it, and they must have had a gallon of liquid before retiring. Currently they seem to be clogging during their afternoon break. Believe it or not, I’m not complaining. The room is refurbed and perfect for a park-heavy stay. It’s busy, buses this morning were packed and they were coming two a time per park, but the food court hasn’t been especially crowded.

You might want to try Landscape of Flavors over at Art of Animation if you get tired of eating out of cardboard boxes.
I am leaving Pop tomorrow to go over to WL.

We stayed at AoA last year and really enjoyed their food. I thought their menu looked very similar to POP’s this trip. I’m here until Saturday with two non-park days, so I’ll probably head over there at some point.

I went from WL to Pop this trip. I miss it.

Did you get any points? Normally if you complain Marriott's will give out points but only if they don’t notify you in advance. If they notify you in advance it’s different.

can you please be more specific on what exactly you are able to hear? It’s not exactly clear in your post and it can benefit other posters to know the specifics. Thank you!

Refill is accessible and so is laundry. They have a mobile bar set up outside of Petals (like a food and wine booth) with drinks.
Thank you so much for this update. Is there a menu at the mobile bar? I'm guessing no pina colavas. Anyone there now who could share pictures of the set up or modified menu would be forever in my debt.

I'll see if I can get a few pictures later tonight.

I was there last night right up until closing and it started pouring! The bar tender was awesome though and gave us some free pretzels.
