Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

I also snail mail and have had great luck with it; twice getting the exact room I requested, and once getting the room next door. :)
Awesome, I thought I was the Lone Ranger!lol

We have also got the exact Room # before!

How soon do you mail?

We do ours at 10 days out(counting all days, not just business days).

Thanks @WEDWDW for this great tip. I had no idea you could do this. I must say I have been really lucky with getting my room requests especially at Pop. I recently returned from a great stay at ASMUSIC preferred room and got all my requests met plus a request I didn't include It was a great room location. Couldn't get Pop this trip 😒 but I may try this tip for my October trip at Pop. Never know when my luck will run out. LOL Thanks.

I might have to add this to my ways to request a room, though I'll have to mail it a few days earlier because it seems to take 7 days for mail to get from PA to FL. 🙄 But I've always had great luck with the TP request/Note on the reservation method so maybe I shouldn't screw things up. :D

I've used TP for many trips and while I love TP, my requests have not been met, not even close. I'm not sure TP still has the influence they once had.

Snail mail is a new secret method I've never tried using! Going to try for our Aug vacation!

Do you address it to Room Assigner at the address used for deliveries?

What is the best way to request rooms? My requests have never been met!
We will be checking in late, about 9pm and usually by that time they can’t do anything until the next day.

Call? Email? Fax? Chat on the app?
We arrive after midnight almost all the time and had very good luck with our requests. In the past we would always call and add it to our reservation and follow that up with a fax about a 7-10 days before check-in. The last few years we have just used touringplans, our last stay we got a room just 2 doors away from the one we picked in TP. I do not think a lot of people ask to change rooms, the majority of the people staying are not on DIS or other forums that you read about changing rooms. I have been on a number of trips with other workers for conferences or friends that did not like their room location etc. and would never even think of asking for a different location until I mentioned it. LOL Personally, we like being in the back by hour glass lake, we do not feel like the walk from most of the rooms is far at all, no way would we pay extra for preferred.

I wonder if length of stay plays into the chances of getting room requests?

Our normal length of stay is 9-11 nights and we rarely get our location request granted but, when we agree to move the following day they can normally honour our location request.

I honestly don't know.

That might be a factor...along with arrival day. We arrive on a Sunday and stay for 7 or 8 nights. I'm thinking Saturdays and Sundays are big days for room turnovers which means there might be more options available. :confused3

We’ve been lucky with having room requests met on most trips. However, on our last trip to Pop, a CM met us outside when we arrived. He had an iPad and said he had us in the 90s. I did not want to be that far, so I politely asked if there was anything in the 50s or 60s and even said we’d wait for a room if we had to. He looked and there was a room in the 50s that was much more like it. I’ve only had to ask for a new room one other time and was fortunate that they could accommodate. It never hurts to ask nicely if you aren’t happy with placement.

You're welcome.

I guess this is the way it was done before Email,Chat,Fax!lol.

I have to think the Room Assignors are baffled and shocked when they get one!lol

We only had about a 50 per cent success when we were using Touring Plans, but it has been around 90 per cent with Snail Mail.

BUT,if TP has been working for you,I would keep riding that horse until it doesn't!

Really? It's never been like that before when I have been at Pop!
I'm not sure when they changed it -- our 2022 trip it was one line that wound over to the Pop Century side. In June 2024, there were 2 separate lines first thing in the morning. Once the morning rush was over, it was just one line (though it was never more than about 5-10 people deep)
