Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

Thank you for the reply. Too bad. I was looking forward to going back to Pop. Guess it's time to check out All Stars.
You don't have to not stay at Pop just because of the Skyliner. Yes, it's more complicated, but you can always take a bus to someplace else and then grab a bus to HS or EPCOT from there. Don't let something like transportation issues keep you from staying at your favorite spot. One of the best reasons I've found for staying at Pop is you can always have an easier time getting back, since you can take a bus to Pop or AoA.

Park to park buses don't always start first thing in the morning so this is not necessarily a valid option for OP. We would need to confirm what time park to park buses begin to offer this suggestion.

Also, not quite sure I understand the comment, 'One of the best reasons I've found for staying at Pop is you can always have an easier time getting back, since you can take a bus to Pop or AoA.' Buses only run to Pop from Epcot or DHS during inclement weather so again, OP would need to take a bus to a different park and then a second bus to Pop.

I want to check to be sure. Just read on the Transportation post on the first page of this thread that there are no buses to DHS and Epcot while Skyliner is running. Is that the current situation? I stayed at Pop in 2016 and loved it. Buses were great. I'm planning a trip in mid October. I'm afraid of heights so not planning on using the Skyliner. Do I need to think about one of the All Stars instead? Need your opinions.
While I still love Pop, I’m also not a huge fan of the Skyliner.
I would definitely check out the ALLStars.
We’ve recently rediscovered our love for them. :)

I would not recommend busing somewhere else, and then trying to bus to Epcot/HS. You’d have to do that returning from the parks as well. That would get old fast.

I completely understand your concerns about Skyliner. I too have acrophobia as well as agoraphobia. On paper, the Skyliner is a nightmare for me. Our trip in 2022 was my first visit with the Skyliner (we were staying at AoA that trip). I was sure Skyliner would be a disaster for me, but for several reasons, we really needed to stay at AoA. So I came up with a game plan. We always go to EP for a few hours on our arrival day so I knew this was the perfect situation to try the Skyliner -- we wouldn't be in a hurry or on any schedule. I also knew if I rode the first leg to CBR and couldn't tolerate any more than that, I could take a bus from there to MK, AK, or DS and bus to EP. I knew that if I couldn't ride it, I'd have to take an Uber to those parks most days or on days we weren't doing rope drop, I could take a convoluted bus route to get there. I do have the advantage of having a prescription for a low dose of Ativan for anxiety. So on that first day, I took an Ativan about an hour before we were going to ride. I told my family members that were riding with me that they could not move *at all* and that I would be staring straight out in to the distance and they should not be trying to make me look at anything else. That first leg of the ride to EP was terrifying for me, but I wanted to try it and be able to use it as I knew it would be super convenient for going to DHS & EP. I spent the entire ride gripping the edge of the seat and doing some relaxation breathing. I spent a few minutes at the CBR station breathing and relaxing. I wanted to call it quits but I got back on for the leg to EP and survived. The ride back to the resort later that evening was better, but still difficult for me. The next day was rope drop at DHS and I once again to an Ativan before riding. The trip was better than the day before. I rode it 4 times that day. By the end of the day, I was much more comfortable riding it. And it got better every day. By day 3, I was actually dreading having to ride a bus to MK. We ended up riding Skyliner 12 times that week and it was so convenient.

So...all that to say, maybe give it a try even if you stay at All Stars. If you have time when you're at DHS, you could just ride the Skyliner over to Pop/AoA (it's a really quick trip). You could even get off at CBR if you need to. Regardless of where you get off, you can take a bus to another park or DS and go back to All Stars. Or, if you find it's tolerable, you could ride it back to DHS and take a bus back to All Star. Just a suggestion. Like I said, I totally understand your fears, but I also understand wanting to stay at a favorite resort.

We just returned from a 5 night stay at Pop (Home Sweet Home). I have to brag on the resort!

We booked Preferred Pool View (room 5402) - even though I read about the noise in the area with the Hippy Dippy Pool and the outdoor movies. I thought - nah - ear plugs, melatonin, my noise fan, and I will be good. I was wrong! LOL!!
BUT!! I called Guest Services and requested a box fan like others have suggested. They had it up to our room within 15 minutes! Slept like a rock all week!

Our room safe was reading "Battery Low" when we put our items in. Another call to GS, and they were fixing it within 30 minutes!

The cast members were beyond friendly and bus service was spot on! We hopped an AoA bus twice since it arrived before a Pop one came. That is yet another convenient bonus of staying at Pop.

Pop has always been and will always be our favorite resort!

Wow, we sound very similar. I'm impressed you were able to do it! I may give it a try after seeing it in person.

The whole notion of taking a bus to Pop or AoA is more of a general thing. Any place that offers transportation to one also offers transportation to the other, so you have double the amount of options getting back to the hotel at the end of the day. On just may require a little more walking.

I'm happy to report that my stay at Pop this week did not have any of the issues I had this past April regarding housekeeping, etc. Interestingly, I got the same building (#10, 70's) and got a 4th floor room. So, using my last experience with parking, I got really close to the room in the 90's parking lot as opposed to the 70's. Once the car was parked, it is the wonderful Skyliner the entire vacation.

I really like these rooms and the value proposition of this resort is above average (AP discount).

To better illustrate my parking experience in the 90's lot for the 70's room section, I did a screenshot. My room location is "circled-ish".

The Skyliner trip from Pop to Caribbean Beach hub is very, very short in duration and is quite low as compared to the other runs. You might want to try that run back-and-forth a few times to get a quick sense of how smooth/relaxing/quiet it is. In fact, at night that run is almost in complete darkness so you really can't gauge any height whatsoever.

It's just my suggestion and not meant to trivialize your concern(s).

I just received this email about our August stay at Pop Century. Anyone else get this email? Trying to figure out if this means everything will be mobile order or not.

We are delighted you have chosen the Walt Disney World® Resort and Disney's Pop Century Resort as your vacation destination, and we look forward to sharing our hospitality with you!

In an effort to ensure the quality of our facilities, we will be refreshing the Everything POP Food Court. During the refurbishment, the Everything POP Food Court will remain open. I would interpret it to be yes, everything will be mobile order during the refurbishment.

I have not received it yet and we are also staying there in August but can I say how THRILLED and EXCITED I am to hear this!!! Pop is an amazing resort but sadly the current state of it's food court is IMHO, the poorest and most outdated of all the Disney resorts. This is a greatly needed refurbishment and will be wonderful once it's all done.

While it won't be fun to live through, I'm happy to experience the growing pains while they renovate and update the Everything Pop Food Court!!!

I just received this email as well for our August trip at Pop. Looks like we’ll be using the skyliner and our APs to eat elsewhere occasional. This doesn’t break my heart either as the food at Pop has be lacking imo.
