Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Not only will it not be up and running until 2023, but it won't be a constant shuttle service like DME. The rail line will have runs at scheduled times throughout the day. Those times may or may not coordinate with someone's flight arrival and departure which means if someone is relying on the rail line for transportation to and from MCO, they could have to wait for an hour or two to actually head to Disney or arrive back at the airport a few hours before their flight (depending on what the scheduling is like). Also, it's only going to drop passengers at DS, not at Pop (or any other resort) so unless Disney starts running shuttles from the rail station to the resorts, guests will still have to get a taxi/uber/lyft to Pop Century because Disney doesn't allow luggage on their resort/park transportation buses.
You’re very factual about about this. Can you please share your source(s)?

I’m asking because our city has a train that runs directly from our international airport to the downtown train station and those trains run every 30 minutes right now and possibly more often during non-Covid times. The ride is 54 minutes long each direction so many trains are running at the same time.

Right now with DME (which we’ve used 40+ times) sometimes we arrive at the bus in time to load and be whisked away within minutes. Other times it’s been more than 45 mins from the time we enter the bus line for Pop, wait for the bus to arrive, load fully and drive away. I don’t imagine the new train system will be much different.

To the best of my understanding, no details have been released by Brightline about frequency of trains nor has Disney published what will happen with guests who arrive at Disney Springs.

Since Disney has parted ways with DME and it’s definitely going away Jan 1, 2022, I’m waiting to find out more details about what our options might be.

That's a relief. Thanks for the quick reply. Now I have to figure out what to do before I get into my room.

I honestly don't remember exactly where I read it but I know I read it in more than one place. I read several Disney message boards and blogs on a regular basis so it could be any of them. I don't have time right now to go searching for the exact sources. I read a lot about it when the rail line was first announced -- that's where I'm remembering the info from -- there were many discussions at that time with many of those discussions centered around whether or not the train would replace/eliminate DME. And you're right, we won't know exact details of the frequency of the trains until Brightline and/or Disney announces it. And we'll also need to see what Disney does about transportation options from the train station -- which is why I said you'll need your own transportation unless Disney starts running buses specifically for that purpose -- which I'm sure they will. It would be a nightmare if everyone coming off the train had to get a cab or rideshare to their resorts.

I have no doubt that Disney or Mears or some other company will have some bus service to replace DME as we know it by next January. It just won't be free.

Sometimes the room is ready really early, not sure on your arrival time.... but you can always get some ice .... so pack the medicine in a couple of ziplocks before your travel.
We do this all the time a quart size inside of a gallon size. We stop by a drink machine for the ice.

Drink machines are not currently accessible to guests but there should be cast members in the area that could put ice in cups for you to put into ziploc bags.

Hi everone,

Just booked a stay at Pop for April for my BFF's 50th birthday. This will be my 5th trip to the world and her FIRST! We are really really excited to stay at Pop!

Looking forward to getting lots of info from this thread!

I saw that requesting the 60's building does not come up in the app when checking in. So should I check in and then call closer to our day? Not sure how that works. Would really like 60's, if that is where preferred rooms are? I booked preferred.

Thanks,
Tina

Same issue, I decided not to do online check in and called to put in my request. I have to go to the front desk to get our magic bands anyway.

Yes, I believe the 60's section is the preferred room section, as it is right behind the dining hall.

We are at Pop now and I’ve learned that in the future I will request NON connecting rooms! We are in a preferred pool side room in 60’s and love the location. While the pool noise is a little irritating it is the noise from the connecting room that is terrible! Sound seems to go right through that door. We hear our neighbors kids, tv, etc. LOUD. :(

Some have mentioned rolling up a towel and placing it at the bottom of the door helps a little with the noise. Hopefully your noisy neighbours check out soon!

We did that and it helps a little. Tonight is our last night. :( At least tomorrow night we get a good nights sleep. The noisy neighbors has been the only negative of an otherwise amazing trip so I can’t complain too much.

Just booked our first stay for POP for this June! Looking at the resort map, it seemed to me the resort wasn't terribly large and there are advantages to most areas (close to hall, buses, skyliner station, pools, etc.). We ended up just booking a standard room.

I'm sorry you've had problems with noisy neighbours. It really does make a difference who they are. We really only had this problem once when a new family arrived and felt 2am was a great time to party! o_O After 20 mins of jumping, yelling and loud music I finally knocked on the wall firmly and that was the end of it. We had had a different family in the room for days and never heard a peep out of them.

Unfortunately sound can travel at any level of resort we stay at when neighbours are not courteous. :( Hope tonight is a better night for you.

Have you noticed if Petals is open at night? MDE shows open until 10pm but I wasn't sure if they close earlier on cold nights.
