Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Respectfully, these would seem to be issues that would have been researched before booking.
I knew all of these things coming in, but like my post said, I chose this resort based on other travelers in our group. I’ve read so many great things about POP so we gave it a shot, but found it wasn’t for us. I don’t mean offense to anyone on this page, I was just giving my opinion on the resort from my family’s perspective.

Just a reminder,if not given a Room location to your liking on arrival,it is completely acceptable to ask the Front Desk if they would mind checking to see if a desirable room might be coming available later in the day(or even the next day if you don't mind "moving').

We have done this many times with about an 80 % success rate.

Room prices have gotten so high,we try everything possible to get a location we like. :)

Saw that there was some kind of accident of the Skyliner at the Riviera station and they are evac-ing the line after people have been stuck a couple hours. Hate to see this. These systems run fine worldwide. Not sure why Disney has had what seems to be a pretty big issue here. So disappointed. Hopefully no one was hurt. I hope they can get it together and get this thing running smoothly.

Standard pool view will face the bowling pin pool in the 50’s or the computer pool in the 80’s/90’s.

Preferred pool view is the Hippy Dippy pool in the 60’s.

We were just in room 1461. It is 4th floor of building 1 (50’s section). It was incredibly quiet! I was worried about it being right by the pool but we never heard anything!

This will be our 2nd time at Pop, really enjoyed the first stay (aside from having to walk through a cloud of smoke to get to the busses every day). I had considered trying another resort, but stuck with Pop primarily to try the Skyliner. So I'm really hoping it will be running for our trip in 5 weeks!

Quick question: Thanks to my foot problems, I'm looking into renting a mobility scooter to get around while at WDW. How well will one fit into a room now for overnight recharging, after the room renovations?

Just an FYI ...there was an accident on the Skyliner last night that now has a lot of people rethinking using it.

I know, that's why I hope it will be back up and running before my trip. It's the main reason I booked Pop rather than try Coronado or All Stars. My son saw them in progress last year and hasn't stopped talking about them.

Good. Especially with the murphy bed folded up.

Is cream cheese available at the food court?

Yes. In individual containers below the yogurt next to the bakery section.

I get it. I bet a less then desirable room location really affected your perception of the resort. It can happen on a first time stay. My sister stayed in the same location as you, while we were in the 60’s once. She was okay with the location, but I remember thinking I would hate to be there.
It’s funny how people perceive things differently. I almost always request the 80’s and have been in building 7 three times, once on the fourth floor in the last room toward the parking lot, and I love being in that area. So many people love the 50’s section and I didn’t like that nearly as much as the 80’s. It actually feels like the food court and buses are closer to the 80’s to me. I have stayed in the 60’s once, and it was a lot busier and noisier than the 80’s. There really is something for everyone. :flower1:

I can understand not liking a particular resort, especially if you are used to one type of resort and then try something different. I am not particularly fond of AKL, which surprises a lot of people. I used to primarily stay deluxe, but dialed it back for a couple years to build the bank account back up after buying a car. Now that I can stay deluxe again, I am really having a hard time justifying the extra cost. I almost feel like I would need to spend all my time at the resort and not go to the parks at all. I dipped my toe in the water with a stay in August at my favorite mod POFQ, and the whole time I was comparing it to Pop, and Pop was winning. I am sure the fact that my trips are primarily solo plays a big factor, since I can leave the Murphy bed up and have the extra space. The only deluxe that is really tempting me is WL, where I have spent some short, non park, trips. But, my next two trips are already booked at Pop.

We are staying at CBR and then Pop for the first time later this month. We usually stay at All Stars which I love, but tried the cabins at FW this summer. It was fun, but everything was too spread out for my taste. For this trip, we really wanted to try out the gondolas. So we paid a little extra to stay at skyliner resorts. Unfortunately that may not happen now, but I'm still looking forward to our stay. This thread has been very helpful and many of you have posted lots of positive reviews. We'll be there in a few weeks to try it out for ourselves and are super excited!!!

This gave me a smile. I actually really like the theme/décor of the 80/90's but hated the location. We usually spend a fair amount of time enjoying which ever resort we stay at so room location does affect that. The 50's just doesn't get my attention and after 5 times staying in the 60's I'm bored with it.

POFQ is my absolute FAVOURITE resort. If I could, I would just stay there every time but often budget plays a role. I love everything about that resort. Just a month ago I stayed at WL for the first time and I was a little disappointed (the room was REALLY worn). I was constantly comparing it to POFQ. The only thing we had at WL that gave it a leg up was that we had a perfect view of the castle and the fireworks....but we also had a perfect view of the garbage dumpsters and the service area.

Oh my goodness! How great that you have photos and measurements. I think you have business model to develop here. Photos and measurements at hotels across the world. It could be a subscription service. I'd pay! It would make things so much easier. I can't tell you how many "accessible" rooms I've been in with my mom where her chair won't fit between the beds. Or under the sink. Or...well...you know the struggle.

Just booked the passholder discount for a quick solo trip staying at POP! I will be there for 6 days. I have never gone in January. we usually go in the summer. I got a great rate. This will be a budget trip because we do our usual 2 weeks in June. So excited to be at POP again:yay:
