Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

They have a Queen bed and Murphy bed (queen sized) aka 2 queens. Use to be 2 double beds but no longer.

Disneyland is definitely less planning which I like but I also like being in the Disney bubble at the world

I was led to believe that the refurbishment wasn't complete and that some rooms hadn't been updated. Is that not true?

I'm actually specifically requesting the rooms with the Murphy beds because they're Queen sized beds and my DW is a restless sleeper, so I like my space :)
All rooms are now refurbished or closed for refurbishment so there is no longer a need to request a refurbished room. You can go ahead and change your request to an area of the resort you would prefer or something else! :)

I'm so glad you enjoyed your first stay at Pop! May I ask if your room had a tub/shower combo or only a shower? Always gathering data to update the other thread and your room is one we're still waiting to hear about. Thanks!
Oh, I meant to mention that! It had a shower only. I loved that! Felt more upscale for sure. I also enjoyed using the products from the dispensers. I used them I’m sure more than I would have if they had been in little bottles.

I am getting excited too! It has been a longgggg time since we did a Disney vacation. 8 years....not counting the numerous quick trips to just do MNSSHP at Magic Kingdom. I am so excited I am about to "POP" :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Only 11 days until DS and I are HOME! Only 6 of those are work days.

Can anyone explain to me why DS decided LAST NIGHT that he wants to get his back to school haircut done at Harmony Barber Shop instead of just doing it before we head to Disney? As if I didn't have a bajillion other preparations for our trip, now I get to call and sit on hold to try and get him an appointment. Kids!

I've gotten zero packing done and I can feel my anxiety creeping up on me. Usually by this time I've had our suitcases packed for 2 weeks and have gone through them double checking things at least a few times. I did pull the luggage out of the closet yesterday and told DS to start gathering his Disney clothes. It's just been do dang hot here in the PNW lately that I have no motivation to get anything accomplished once I get home from work.

Similar boat here with the later packing....so glad to see I am not the only one :)

Thanks and l, I totally agree with both of your comments about the shower feeling larger and the products. This was us exactly! On my Touring Plans room request I’m asking for a shower only room!

Wow I leave in 11 myself. Although the first half in U.O. and then Disney for the Halloween party. I am not a last minute packer, my gurls are, but I have been packed for some time.

So wonderful that she is recovering so well! You are so right about planning for WDW...it is like planning for a small country :D Setting up apps, looking at touring plans, checking the boards daily, etc...I never spent this much time with DL. The most I had to do was make sure i made my reservations fro blue bayou. It feels so strange to have to plan so little after planning a WDW trip. I think your research will really make the difference for you. My coworker came back from WDW and did not like it...she preferred DL as she did not know she had to plan so much out in advance. Felt badly for her!

My must not forgets are a powerstrip with USB ports, clothes pins to hang swim suits to dry, blister band aids, body glide and a pop up laundry hamper. I use to love the purell laundry sheets with soap/fabric softener all in one but they are no longer available. Wonder if anyone has any other suggestions as those sheets were sooo easy!
Bring the “pod” type detergent. I use the 4 in 1 Gain pods that have the fabric softener included. I bring a few in a ziploc, along with dryer sheets in another ziploc. Hardly takes up any space in the suitcase.

Thanks to who made suggestions on laundry detergent ideas...so glad to have so many smart people to solve these dilemmas :goodvibes

We just got back from our trip and it had been seven years for us. It felt soooo good to be back! It’s nice to have something that totally meets and exceeds your expectations and Disney does that. I know you’ll have an amazing trip!

Are some refurbished rooms with tubs and some without? Since we're traveling with a little one, she still likes to take baths. So maybe I should request a room with a tub!

Hello, Just booked for next year, Have a few questions.
Do the rooms have ceiling fans, and bathroom fans?

Also can we push the one bed against the wall? Our 4 year old who I will be sharing a bed with still sleeps with bed rails as she moves around alot.

Or should I just rent some bed rails?

Thanks!!!

You can't move the beds, so look into renting bed rails if you can.

i just returned from a wonderful stay at Pop! I arrived at 10:30 am and my room was miraculously ready! I had requested a lake view room in the 60s section, which was granted, albeit in the opposite building I had requested but it didn't matter. My main objective was to be close to the bridge, but also close to Classic Hall.

The new rooms are fantastic! They do feel small, but it's a very functional space. I daresay it's even more function than Animal Kingdom Lodge. The floors seemed a little scuffed and dingy already, which was surprising as they seem to be a pretty durable material. The shower was great - I especially loved the handheld shower head. The bulk soap dispensers actually worked out really well for me. I ordinarily don't really use the toiletries, but because it was right there I ended up using it. Loved all the outlets and USB ports, and the gigantic TV was a very nice touch! I opted out of housekeeping as I was trying to save money wherever I could. With the floors I'd have definitely preferred some housekeeping but I was pretty careful about tracking stuff in.

Bus service I found to be a bit spotty. That, or I'm impatient. It seemed to be ok leaving the resort but trying to get back home wasn't great. In fact, I only rode the Pop bus home once because all the other times Art came first, and often after a prolonged wait.

All in all, I really loved the resort and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

Glad you had a great trip! Lake view in the 60s is our favorite also.

I've seen it mentioned that you can get bed rails from housekeeping when you arrive. Hopefully someone will confirm that.
