Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

LOL....okay thank you, but...I've stayed at Poly and liked Pop better. The food court at Pop is much better and has a nice atmosphere. And walking over to AOA is a perk. The room at Poly was a bit bigger but we weren't planning on dancing in it...LOL. The pool view was nice at Poly but we rarely sat out on our balcony. So I guess it's really just what you may prefer, everyone has different taste and expectations. We love Pop!

Yeah, I stayed at AKL and then Pop six months later... liked Pop better overall. AKL has great restaurants, but I think I'd rather just Lyft over there for the meals and to see some animals and then come back home to Pop!

Dole whips at POP best news ever. Just spent the morning securing a discount on our upcoming trip. Now to find out that Dole whips are at the resort that is "ice cream" (icing) on the cake. Yay!

Now I have some incentive to diet and save more for the holiday (just enough to compensate for the Dole whips)

The most amazing ones are at Animal Kingdom ................ with RUM!!!


PS For hardcore fans ........ Disney no longer has the "monopoly/rights" to the real Dole Whip. One of our snack spots in St. Augustine now has REAL ones (credited with the sign) and am sure they are in other tourist spots as well. Same stuff, same machines.

Disney never had the monopoly/rights to the Dole Whip. It is served nationwide, at many different places.

We stayed at akl last year and weren’t impressed. We ended up liking our por stay a lot more.

We didn’t like that there was only one pool. We also didn’t like that it was one big building. Dh and I really liked por and POFQ because of being able to walk outside to get to our rooms and having the river there. We also liked the quiet pools at por which had hardly any people in them.

We liked POR too but don't know if we will go back because of the dog thing.

They don't have dogs at POFQ right?

So far, POFQ has been our favorite resort out of the 3 that we have tried (POFQ, POR, AKL). I'm excited to try POP this time!

My DD is already hoping she’ll be able to justify having it for breakfast since it’s ‘milk and fruit’. I’m not sure the ice cream area is open for breakfast but you know we’ll be checking!!

Huh weird. We probably won't go back there anyway because our goal is to try a new resort each time we visit. This will be our 3rd year in a row and I'm thinking DH is about ready for a break from DW for awhile. I think he either wants to try DL or go somewhere else. We go other places on vacation and he always has fun once we get to DW, but oh well lol.

And another misconception is the fact that some Guests with no "budget restraints" actually PREFER to stay at the Values!

That fact is REALLY hard for some to "wrap their heads around"!lol

POP is full of DISNEY FUN and oh so GROOVY!!!!

We stayed at AKL in 2016 and even though it was a nice resort I felt like we were "cheating" on POP the whole time, lol. In all honesty though the room was nice but it was such a long walk to our room it just wasn't worth it. I will be sticking with POP as usually this year.

So true. So many people assume that if you stay at one of the Value resorts, it's because you can't afford anything else (not directed at anyone in particular...just a general statement). Nope. Some of us choose where to stay based on the vibe and atmosphere of a resort. I want to feel like a kid when I'm at Disney. The Value resorts help with that experience. For me, the Deluxe resorts make me feel like the grandparent that I am. I'm sure once it's DH & I traveling to Disney by ourselves, we'll stay at the Deluxe resorts because we'll have more down time and be able to enjoy the amenities. But for now, Pop & AoA are the experience we're looking for. FWIW, there have been a few trips where we've been a party of 5 (we're normally a party of 6 or more) and could have stayed in a standard room at certain Deluxe resorts for less money per night than what we paid for a suite at AoA. We still chose the suite because that's what *we* wanted. The Value Resorts aren't always the cheapest option.

Seen the product served but never the name advertised to insure it was the same until a couple years ago.

So I'm trying to do my requests online and my preferences are 70s and highest floor. But after confirming, the 70s preference disappears. I think this was an issue on my last trip. Is it due to construction? Just want to make sure it's still an issue and I'm not just the only one with this issue.

Let me know what they say! Would love to know if it's worthwhile to call. I was in the 70s by chance on my first trip to Pop and loved it sooo much. I love disco music and it was just the best walking out of my room to Brick House.

I haven't ever been to Pop, but the 70's interest us the most! I'll let you know after I call. It won't be until later today.

It's not milk and fruit. Just fruit. It's dairy free.

That's happening to me as well. I remember reading awhile back that someone phoned to ask a CM about it and both requests were visible on the CM's end so I'm guessing yet another lovely MDE glitch.
