Question about Pop Transportation??

My adult daughter and a friend are at Pop right now - it's a first time any of our family have stayed here. They've been there since Sunday and have had terrible luck with the buses. The average wait has been about 40 minutes both coming and going - never sooner than 30 minutes and many times over an hour. Is this typical with Pop? They're very discouraged :( They know their way around transportation (taught them well - tee hee!) so was just trying to figure out if this is the norm or they have just caught it badly each time. They're having a great time nonetheless - just never want to stay there again. Thanks for any input!

We have always had great luck with the busses at POP. Maybe it is just time of year. We have always gone in the fall.

There is a ton of road construction on site, especially near Pop, that has wreaking havoc with the buses the past 2 weeks.

QUESTION REGARDING PARKING...

This is our first time at the Pop Century - and the first time in a few years at ANY Disney Resort. Could someone offer a reminder?
We prefer to drive to the parks rather than use Disney buses. Does staying at the Pop Century offer us free parking at the TTC or at the specific parks?
THANKS!!

All resort guests get free parking at the parks/TTC. Even on checkout day. I don't think that's changed yet!

That's correct as noted above that resort guests are not charged for parking at the theme parks. You show your Magic Band and they will sometimes scan it, sometimes just ask where you are you staying.

Thanks! Good to know this is a 'now' thing - hopefully it clears up soon. My kiddo has a good amount of patience so to hear her say she never wants to stay there again told me she'd had it :)

Do the current rooms, not the refurbished, have a retractable clothesline in the bathroom or over the bathtub? Trying to figure out what I need to bring to help dry swim-trucks or shirts.

Also, know this might be a strange question, but will the sinks keep water in it well if the stop is down, or do they even have a stop? I'm planning on bringing quick dry shirts and plan on washing them in the sink mid-vacation.

They do have the retractable clothes lines in the bathroom above the tub. The sink has a stopper and holds the water well. I've used it to wash some quick things during one of my trips. Worked perfectly!

Is there any update to when refurbed rooms will be open? I saw a photo someone posted on TripAdvisor they took through a window and the room looked done.

The prevailing thought is June. But that is not something WDW will officially announce.

That does not sound fun at all. If May is bad and the construction is still there in July, I'm wondering whether it is such a good idea to stay at Pop for the Fourth. Any thoughts on that? I know that Disney tends to be good at preparing The World for July 4th crowds, but I also know that road construction is generally not a short term thing.

We were there last week. Getting to the parks was easy. Most of the time a bus was waiting as we walked up. Getting back is what took forever. We would see 2 or 3 other resort buses pick up before we would see 1 Pop bus. If I were to stay there again I may use the Art of Animation buses and walk over the bridge back to my room at Pop.

Getting ready to book my first ever stay at Pop Century for August! It is a last minute trip and there were some great deals on Pop so we decided to take the plunge! I've read through this thread some and checked out the maps and info on the first page, but keep seeing posts about refurbishments. Is there any sort of map or post on here laying out what's been done? I'm hoping to get a room in the 70s buildings that's been refurbished, but know that may not be possible with the short time frame or if that building has even been refurbished. TIA!

Reports are the rooms are worked on currently are in the 80s and 90s buildings but none of those new rooms (completed gutted and redone) have been released to guests. What section they move onto next, I don't think anyone knows.

There is a focused thread on the renovations here: https://www.disboards.com/threads/pop-century-room-renovations.3573071/

Does anyone know how long the road construction will be going for?

"Road construction" is bit of a weak description -- it's a giant reconfiguration project adding a flyover to Osceola Parkway. When I was there a few weeks ago the intersection of Osceola and Victory Way looked like the surface of the moon.

From the Orlando Sentinel: "A reconfiguration of Osceola Parkway at Victory Way, southeast of Disney's Hollywood Studios and north of the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, should be finished by the end of 2018. A traditional intersection will be replaced with a flyover design similar to that at state roads 50 and 436 near Orlando. The flyover will take Osceola Parkway traffic over Victory Way."
