Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Apologises if this is a repeated question. This will be my first time in Orlando and we've booked at Pop so I was just wondering what the best decade to stay in was? We're two adults, that aren't bothered about a pool and we don't have a car so we'll be using Disney transport. So any advice would be welcomed!

We just returned from our Pop stay. We both liked the resort. Although we were gone from morning till night ever day, and didnt use any of the resort amenities, we enjoyed our room location. It was super quiet! We stayed in the 60s era, building 4, top floor. On the opposite side from the pool. Short walk to the food court, store, lobby and buses. Maybe a 4 minute walk? We were in room 4436 and it was nice! Everything worked, it was clean, our mousekeeper was sweet - left us thank you notes for the tips we left her. Our room was the very last room of the row, which meant we only had one real neighbor. If we walked left around the corner there was a nice view of the lake, and the Art of Animation resort. I would recommend this location. It was nice and quiet.
My wife and I have used Uber several times from several different resorts within WDW. Its always been less expensive that a taxi. Never run into surge pricing because most of the time we're using it in the morning. The only time we didn't was going from "The Poly" back to AoA after an evening at Trader Sams.............but have never had more than an $8 ride.

Doug :goofy:

We used Uber last Saturday night leaving MK going to Pop. Cost us $15 - it was surge pricing. Still worth it - the lines were HUGE!

Booked at POP, preferred, upgraded FD, switched our res from POR, 9/10-9/16. I'm thinking of requesting 70's, building 10. Any idea/speculation if refurb will be finished in that section by September?

It's hard to know for sure, since they haven't opened / finished the first building they started on yet, but I'd be shocked if the had the 70s finished by September, and pretty surprised if they had even started on the 70s by then. That's just my guess though.

I stayed Preferred in bldg 10 in February and thought it was a great location. I was ground floor, courtyard side, on the end closest to the main building, super convenient for food and buses.

Just got to our room for the first time. Loving it so far!! Requested room 6113 on TP and got 6114 (one room to the left). Super happy with it! I'm very close to the pool, lobby & buses.Loving Pop so far :) I'll post pictures tonight.
If you don't mind my asking what category room is that? I had to take a standard for FD so every time someone posts the room number I like to see if it's a possible request for me lol

I agree, it's nice to get people's thoughts on what room they stayed in and if they recommend it or not.

Have you checked out the touring plans room finder? This will be our first visit to the POP, so I can't confirm it's accuracy, but it shows the view from every room, room catagory, lobby and transportation times, noise level, if they pick it as a top room choice, etc. It also has nice filter options that allow you to enter the specs your interested and it will give you it's top suggested rooms and highlight the rooms that meet those requirement.

Our family booked two rooms for June so connecting rooms is the most important thing for us, so that is the only request we put down. The room finder also shows connecting room info, but sadly doesn't have a filter option just for that.

It's a standard! Seriously paying about $25 a night less than the people that are around the corner and 5 seconds from my door haha. Highly recommend this room as your request. It's been very quiet too so far.

Sorry I haven't posted any pictures yet. I will do some later! Still haven't gotten over to look at construction but I will do that during the next week too :)

My question for you and any of our Dis friends reporting from POP: exactly which buildings and wings of buildings are closed for construction?

Thanks and hope you have a great trip!

We're excited to be staying at POP again for our next WDW trip!

This time though we would really like to get a room with a King bed. Any tips?

They started the renovations in building 8. Do not know if they have advanced to any additional buildings.

We didn't get our room request from touring plans. :( Totally different building and wing. Hoping to go in December and will try again.

We didn't get ours either. We used the Touring Plans service - fax request. We requested 50s bldg 3 with lake view. We received 60s bldg 4 and a view of tree tops. We got room 4436. Loved the quietness of the room! Even though we didn't get what we requested, i was not disappointed at all.

I'm thinking it will be more difficult to get specific buildings while the construction is going on. I will be there in September and December, and am just requesting a refurbished room on an upper floor. I will be happy with any refurbished room that is not ground floor, but hoping for top floor where it's quieter. For now, the higher priority for me is getting the refurbished room, since they will be solo trips - looking forward to more floor space!

And this is the reason why we refuse to pay for preferred. My DH has timed it multiple times from the furthest part of the resort to the foodcout and it is never more then a 7-8 min walk.

Sorry if this is a repeated question, but are there ice machines where we can fill coolers at Pop?

I've wondered, when Uber picks you up leaving MK, where is the pickup location?

quick question...if my and my wife arrive the night of june 7th, late night, like 1am, if we already have our magicbands, and check in online, can we just go straight to our rooms and unlock the door with our magicband?

Yes (as long as your room number shows up in MDE or in a text message, of course).
