Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I've read through most of this thread, trying to determine the best way to make a room request. Is it by calling disney reservations, faxing to POP(if so anyone know the number)? Any advice?

If you have a membership to Touring Plans I've had great success with their room requests. Right down to getting the exact room I requested once and the room next door to my requested room another time.

If not I would recommend calling Disney 3-5 days before your arrival and requesting a room. I'm not sure of their correct FAX number and believe the one posted at the beginning of this thread my be incorrect.

This May (so close!!) will be our first stay at POP!!! I'm wondering what time we should get on the buses to get to the parks at rope drop? The first trip we took we stayed off property, and the second trip a couple of years back our in-laws planned everything. This is my first trip to plan on my own, and I know how imperative it is to get there at rope drop...I just don't know how long the bus rides are to MK, EPCOT, and HS. Thanks!

POP is our resort of choice and we are rope droppers. We always try to get to the bust stops 1 hour in advance for rope drop. I have always found the buses to run efficiently there, but first thing in the morning as at any resort, you can get lucky and have a bus pulling up as you get to the stop or you might have just missed one. So we always play it safe and aim for 1 hour. The good news is that the cafeteria is never very busy that early in the morning as we try to sneak in our breakfast before we go.

Bus question: My son and I are doing a tour in MK in August. We need to check in at 7:45 am inside MK. The park opens at 9am that morning. I've noticed that Epcot has EMH that morning. Would be better off catching a bus to Epcot then monorail it over to MK? The MK breakfast reservations don't begin until 8am. Also, what time should we be at the bus stop? 7am? We stopped doing rope drop years ago since our kids are older now! I'm a little rusty on early buses. Also, the Pop food court opens at 6:30 am? We'd need breakfast before the tour.

Renovation: I'm guessing by August they should be somewhere in the middle of the resort renovating buildings. We booked a preferred pool view room this trip. Wondering how the renovation schedule will effect this? They couldn't have all the rooms in that category out of use at the same time? We're more concerned with location than having an updated room.

The buses start around 6:30 am. I would be at the bus stop no later than 7:00 am. When you arrive at MK, go to the far left and there will be cast members checking you in and a large line of guests waiting to be let in for tours and dining. You will wait with them to be let in all at once around 7:45-7:50. Even though your check in says 7:45, they will hold you until told everything is clear in guest areas before letting anyone through and it will be a mass entrance of all PPO tours and ADRs.

Take a Magic Kingdom bus for sure-be at the MK Bus Stop at POP BY 6:45 AM to be safe.:)

Thank you!

Wow! 6:45 am! Hope we can get breakfast and digest by then. Lol that's early!
Yes SUPER early, but better EARLY than LATE-yopu may have to wait a while for a bus,etc.,etc.-always good to have a "cushion".:)

Taking the Epcot Monorail to Magic Kingdom is a FUN way to go to MK,BUT won't work here-the Epcot Monorail won't start until 7:30 AM that day and it is 9 minutes from TTC to the Epcot Station so 7:39 AM would be the earliest you could board at Epcot and then it is 7 minutes from the Epcot Station to TTC and then you have to hop on the Express Monorail or Ferry-that route just won't work.:)

I thought the monorail would begin around 7am with Epcot's EMH opening at 8am that morning.

Regardless, we'll be watching the sunrise and pink sky at the bus stop at 6:45 am :)

Yes,it is somewhat surprising, but the Epcot Monorail doesn't start from TTC until 7:30 AM on Epcot AM EMH days.:)

If you go with Uber/Taxi,remember to have them take you to Contemporary Resort and then walk from there-that route is usually faster than TTC/Ferry or Monorail.

If the recommendation is to be at the bus stop 1 hour before park opening for rope drop would it be the same for driving and self parking? I'm guessing more time for MK but would an hour be a safe time to leave POP and make it to rope drop at the other parks?

I'd say thats probably about good if you don't have bags and you are correct MK will require extra time. Not sure the reason for not taking the bus for MK I find it is usually easier to just take the bus. I prefer driving to the other parks.

Sorry, but I am new to the site, we have reservations for 2 rooms for a week stay in mid September in POP in a standard room in celebration of a 50th wedding anniversary. Our party includes two 70 year olds and a 6 and 8 year old. We were rushed in booking to make the 180 day deadline to make restaurant reservations which went great. The problem is the more I read is the a preferred room is closer to dining and transportation which would benefit our older and younger people. However, it was $15 a night more so for 2 rooms would add an extra $210 + tax to the bill. Is it worth the difference in price to upgrade or are there some standard rooms that are also close? I understand you can request certain sections or buildings, of course not guaranteed to get them. What are the best sections to request as far as close proximity to dining and transportation? Thx in advance.
I'm sorry if someone has already answered your question and this is a repeat. If proximity to dining and transportation is of great importance to you and your trip would be diminished if you had to walk too far to food and/or the buses, then I would pay for the preferred room.

Another note is that your two rooms are not guaranteed to be next to each other so you could always book one as preferred and one as standard. Who goes in which one is of course up to your party.

Looking at the map (and depending on room type and availability) I would shoot for the 'inner' wings of bldgs 1,3,6,10 and any part of bldgs 4 and 5. But as you mentioned, having a standard room may put you as far out as the back wing of bldg 7 even if you request one further up. pop map.PNG

So are the buildings in Red the preferred room buildings then? Drat, I was really hoping that I could request the 50's or 70's with a standard room.

Only some rooms in those buildings are preferred.

Oh, interesting! So if I get lucky, I could end up on the AoA-facing side of one of the 60's buildings.... I'd be okay with that! Either way, I'll call maybe the week before I fly there and put in some building requests. Thanks for all the info!

Ah much better map! The ones in red on my map have both standard and preferred rooms. Take a look at touring plan's room finder (I have a subscription- not sure if you need one to look at it, though). Then you can put in your room types and distance preferences and they'll spit out a map like mine with buildings and rooms highlighted that match!
