I wonder how far they will get with the room renos by August?
I'm wondering the same. I'm
Planning a mid August trip.
I think we will get a better idea how fast they will actually move through the buildings in the next month or so

We are checking in Aug. 11th. I'm waiting to see which buildings are being renovated before I make any requests. I'm thinking that they'll be working in the 70's? Maybe 60's?

60's is the main building so I'm sure that will be the last one. It's supposed to go through March of next year and Jan is the slow time so I think it will be done then.

Thought the time frame to do a room was 20 days. It has been over 6 weeks since they started. Some rooms should be finished by now.

That is what I keep thinking/saying but someone did point out it is the first set of rooms, so maybe delays or problems arose. Hopefully the remaining rooms don't take as long. I am staying in December and I just hope I know where the construction is then so I can request a different building. But I am so eager to see a finished room.

But we don't know that they haven't finished some rooms.

We are checking in May 27th with a preferred room.Should I even try for a renovated room? What do you all suggest for a family of 4 (6 and 3 yr old) to request instead?

This May (so close!!) will be our first stay at POP!!! I'm wondering what time we should get on the buses to get to the parks at rope drop? The first trip we took we stayed off property, and the second trip a couple of years back our in-laws planned everything. This is my first trip to plan on my own, and I know how imperative it is to get there at rope drop...I just don't know how long the bus rides are to MK, EPCOT, and HS. Thanks!

If they want to do the 60's last, I'll be thrilled! I just want my preferred location. :goodvibes

We always make a point of being at the bus stop at least one hour before park opening.

We have a preferred room booked June 18-24. Should I request a certain location and if so, what should I request? I prefer to be close to the bus stop.

This--you could fudge it and do 45 minutes and probably be ok, depending on crowds, but I was there in March, with spring break crowds, and I was shocked how many people were in line for the buses to try and make rope drop. Even on a day when MK opened at 7 am, we were at the bus stop at 6:15 and there were a ton of people ahead of us in line. Some people had to wait for the second bus. If you want to make rope drop, be there 1 hr before.

And also factor in that Epcot can open "unannounced" as early as 8:40 AM at times so definitely allow PLENTY of time for Epcot RD.:)

oooh yes--the day we did RD at Epcot the security lines were the worst. Seriously, like 10/15 min waiting to get through security. So if you're taking advantage of EMH, get there early so you can make it through security in time. And/or go bagless.

If you call Disney to make a request, I would ask for "close to the bus stop."

If you want to make the request during online check in and pick a section, I had a Preferred room in the 70s this year (bldg 10) that was convenient to food and buses, and I really liked it.

Oh, and reading back through the last couple of pages... Call me a pessimist, but considering the rate at which things seem to be proceeding, I would bet that in August the renovations will be through the 90s building and one of the 80s buildings and that's all.

Close to the bus stop may mean not so close to to the main building. We were once in the 90s, and very close to the bus stop, but coming from the parking lot. We were 2 to 3 min away from the main building. It was not bad, actually. But I did make the request to be close to the bus stop.

I thought I read somewhere that the new bathrooms were shower only (no tub). I know that there are no finished rooms, but can anyone at Pop now tell if this is the case from the construction evidence?

I cannot imagine Pop not having tubs. There are too many families that visit Disney with babie, children (and parents ) who need a tub.

. I like to be at the bus 60 mins prior to rope drop for DHS and AK but I allow 75 mins for MK and Epcot.

I've read through most of this thread, trying to determine the best way to make a room request. Is it by calling disney reservations, faxing to POP(if so anyone know the number)? Any advice?

Quick question - I just did the online check-in for my upcoming trip the end of May ... I didn't see a spot to request if you wanted the 2 beds or a 1 king bed. I know the majority are the 2 bed rooms but that is what I want (even though only two people - I am traveling with a friend).

Is that something I should call them to clarify?
