Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Yesterday was the first day I could make FP's and resort check-in. I have a standard room at POP and requested 1960's and lake view. After thinking about it, I realized that most of the standard rooms in the 1960's buildings probably have a lake view so I went in to modify my requests and MDE won't let me change them! Last year at POR I was able to modify my requests multiple times. Can you no longer make changes in MDE in regards to room requests?

I've never been able to. And I don't know anyone that has. I've always had to call and have the phone CM change them.

Pop is loosing it's new resort shine. We had a short 2 night stay.

DH and I have loved this resort and have stayed practically every trip there. We have tried the All Stars but have had horrible experiences there. So Pop has been it for us. Sadly we feel that the housekeeping and maintenance has been slipping over the years. Here are a few photos taken from our recent trip. I missed taking photos of the Carpet (stained), Towels (Stained), Bed (Needs replacing springs shot, you really sink in), Sink (leaking from faucet). We let the staff know of the room issues but with such a short stay and not getting the room until after 10pm arrival night we just lived with it.

Now this is our experience hopefully yours will be better. We love this as our value resort. If we could afford a moderate or deluxe we would do that instead of Pop now. DH is pricing off property hotels now.

Clock missing, filthy phone and remote.

I am not sure that the clock is missing. I thought I read somewhere recently that they removed all clocks from the resorts as most people have iPhones or smart phones so they removed them. Not an upgrade if you ask me but that isn't Disney missing stuff that's Disney cutting costs

You are correct, the clocks resort wide are being removed. You can still ask for one from housekeeping or the front desk. For DVC units, the DVD players have also been phased out, you have to request those as well. It makes sense from a cost issue.

My 1 year old and I just came back from a great 3 night weekend stay at Pop! Room was clean, quiet, and my little man loved the huge icons outside and the buildings and the playroom in the lobby. I think we had more fun here than at the beach club!!

I wish I wasn't such a resort snob in the past! I totally understand. My daughter and I stayed alone at the Boardwalk Inn last spring break, and it cost us $300 a night. Stayed at Pop for roughly $80 a night (free QSDP so I'm estimating - and we loved the plan but wouldn't pay for it as we couldn't use all the credits). We really loved it more as it was more relaxed, and the food court had so much to offer when we were back at the resort!

I couldn't agree more. My first stay this year at Pop and I loved it. So relaxed and calm. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Liked it better than the mods

Thank you for sharing these recent positive posts. It truly helps my anxiety over our upcoming trip . Did you folks request certain rooms , or just go with the rooms they assigned ? TIA

I've made room requests for my 2 previous stays at POP. Once I asked for adjoining rooms and the other time I requested a room close to the front for quick access to the food court and buses. Both requests were accommodated. I will probably ask for a room closer to the front again during my next POP stay this coming May.

Talking with DH today and we have noticed something. When we did package deals (room & tickets) our room was always ready early in the morning and our requests were honored. Now that we have switched to doing room only reservations our rooms are never ready when we arrive and we rarely get our requests honored.

Anyone else notice this in their vacations? :confused3

Strictly coincidence.:)

Hi guys, we're staying at Pop for the first time as a short surprise trip for our DD's Bday (so excited, she thinks we're not going back til Oct when we stay at CBR). From all the positives, I'm hoping my DH will finally cave and let us stay here going forward for our normal annual trips (he's always insisted Mods for the beds and an uneducated opinion that the Values are louder/crazier). I myself have always wanted Pop, not just for the $$; but the adorable design. A couple of questions if you don't mind. #1 We're going during a forcast of 8's and 9's bc of our DD's bday. We booked Standard. We're going to submit a request for the 50's section, lakeside (we're driving & I read on this thread it's a good section for that). With it being such a busy time, I have doubts our request would be honored. For those of you who have stayed Standard vs Preferred, have you noticed a difference in the noise/ craziness around your room? I really want DH to fall in love with Pop, so I want to give him the best 1st impression. With the layout, I didn't think Preferred would be necessary for the proximity to the main hall/buses. But, it'd be worth it if there's a difference in the noise factor. #2 If we arrive before 3pm and our room isn't ready yet, would they allow us access to the main pool until the room is ready? We're going to MK that night for dinner/fireworks, but we want to get things settled in our room and change first. I appreciate this thread, it's provided great info, so excited!!!:disrocks:

If you're requesting a Lakeside room in any of the decades you'll be in some of the quieter room locations. Just keep in mind, you could run into rowdy/noisy neighbours at any resort. We've stayed in both the standard and preferred rooms and I find the standard rooms at Pop, less busy and noisy then the preferred rooms, mostly because fewer people are walking by.

Yes, you can definitely use the pool upon arrival, even if your room is not ready. Just ask for some towels at the front desk. :)

Thank you very much!!! You guys (as always bc DIS rocks!) are always sweet and helpful!!!

Are mickey waffles (either kids or adults) being offered now in the food court during breakfast? I know they did for a while, then it went to Pop waffles only even for kids. Can anyone report on them recently?

I only saw the small Pop Waffles when I was there at the beginning of the month.

I could have sworn I was able to make changes last year when we stayed at POR. But maybe not.

I have an active reservation for Pop where I only made one request. I can go back in and add a second request, but I cannot change the one that is already selected....even if it conflicts with the second one might add (or change to), like in the example below.

My existing request, made a few weeks ago, is grayed out and cannot be unchecked.

Dumb.

(I didn't submit this change...just testing to show everyone here.)

DH and I stayed in a standard room at Pop last week and liked it very much. Our only request was for a king size bed, which we got - in one of the HA rooms, 322, in the 70s building on the side away from the courtyard. It was very quiet and also a convenient walk to both the Food Court and the bus stop. The only thing we missed was having a coffee maker in the room (thank goodness for refillable mugs and a DH who's willing to dress quickly in the AM and hike to the food court to fetch the elixir of life!). Next time we're out of DVC points and "need" to make a trip to WDW we'll strongly consider staying at Pop again.
