Was it considered a standard room?

I did online check in and asked for a 2nd floor room in the 60's building. I received instead a 2nd floor room in the 70's building. Actually building 6. It was a very short walk to Classic Hall, where everything is located. Yes, that is considered a standard room. My room was 6251. Building 6, 2nd floor, They texted me my room number as I was arriving at the Orlando Airport, so when we arrived, we were able to go directly to our room. I loved that feature.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of the size?

Despite having gone to Disney 3 times in my adult life, this is my first stay "on property"!

For all you solo travelers, or those of you that are thinking about a solo trip, let me just say this. I went solo to POP a year ago last August. I loved it. It was wonderful. No looking over your shoulder, or ahead of yourself for the rest of your party. Instead, you can plan the entire trip around whatever you want to do. It's glorious, and with Memory Maker, you can still be in tons and tons of pictures.

I agree with all of this. I took my first solo trip in January 2015 and absolutely loved it. I did what I wanted when I wanted. Was never lonely in the parks like I thought I would be and when in my room at night I would just read and pretty much fall asleep. I can't wait to do another solo trip next year in 2017.

I've seen this posted by people several times, but (and I feel stupid asking, but I've never stayed onsite) how does that work? Is it that you have your Magic Band and it's your room key?

Yes, our magic bands were mailed to us, and we put them on before we boarded the Magical Express Bus at the airport. I have stayed at Pop before, so I knew how to find our rooms. Actually, when they texted/emailed our room #, I requested both options, they also sent a map of the resort, so I studied it briefly, and we found our room with no problem.

I did miss the interaction at the check in desk, but since they don't hand out the elaborate packet that they used to, it was nice to skip that stop and head straight to the room.

Yes, you just touch the Mickey head on your magic band to the Mickey head on your resort door and it will unlock....in theory. Sometimes it doesn't work for whatever reason, but in general, that 's all there is to it. Much easier than fumbling for a key or putting a card in a slot and waiting for the light to turn green.

Yup. Not us personally, but many of our friends and family have. Every WDW resort has them upon request, it's just not advertised.

Just crossed the Florida line, expect to arrive at Pop about 3pm. They just texted that our room is ready and we got what we requested. 50's 4th floor! Whoohooo! The Magic has begun!

I must share this fact, about my own arrival at Pop on my most recent trip. Exactly when my friend and I stepped down from our Magical Express Bus, the music over the loud speakers was playing.......You guessed it right...

Just returned from our first trip to Pop, so I thought I'd post my thoughts. This was our first stay truly in a value. We've been to AoA twice before, but were inthe suites, so I don't consider that a value stay.

I know I shouldn't have been surprised by the room size but I was. It sure was tiny! There was four of us, me, DH, DS1- 4 and DS2-2. We were only there for 4 nights so it wasn't that bad, but for a longer trip or with bigger kids I'm not sure I could do it. There just weren't enough places to put stuff. I also didn't like that there was basically no room decor. There's so much they could have done even with paint color and a few pics, but it's just brown and one poster. Snore!

I did enjoy the outside decorations and the food court was good. Lots of choices and not too crowded at least when we were there. We did breakfast in the room though. We also enjoyed the Hippy Dippy pool although it really doesn't compare with the Nemo pool at AoA.

I saw a few questions about the fridge size. We were able to fit 2 half gallons of milk, about 10 bottles of water (some standing and some laying down on the shelf), and a package of string cheese. There was still a little room on the door.

We had an alarm clock in our room.

Our room was 409, 70s building 10. It was exactly what I requested which has never happened to me before so I was happy about that. The location was great. Close to the main building and pretty quiet.

My other negative for this resort was the amount of noise you can hear in the room. You can hear everything outside. The first night our neighbors had their door propped open with the security bar and kept going in and out. Needless to say it was irritating hearing it bang against that every 10 minutes. Thankfully I remembered my earplugs!

All in all, we had a good stay, but I'm not sure I'll go back. It will be irrelevant in a few years anyway as we are expecting baby #3 in July and we won't fit in the room anymore!

Forgot to add that we did online check in but for some reason never got the text. When we checked at the desk after eating lunch in the food court we found out the room was ready. So if you haven't gotten a text by the time you arrive check at the desk as your room might be ready anyway.

Quick question, I currently have a suite reserved at All Star Music, but after reading some reviews, I am not sure how comfortable my 6 foot son is going to be in a pull out couch, For about $40 less (total) we can get two rooms at Pop . My son and his girlfriend would share one room and my husband and myself in the other. Any thoughts?

Here now and I really like Pop and wearing a Magicband. I requested 60s Lakeview close to transportation and got pretty good room on 4th floor facing kiddie pool. Food court first impressions were just so so. Lifeguards are on top of things and the Hippy Dippy pool is nice.

Walked up to bus waiting to go to MK. Bus driver going back crammed it full of people so that was a little dicey holding a toddler. But so far, so good!

Phone housekeeping and they'll deliver one to your room. They're still available upon request. I like knowing the time too - without having to check my phone!

I just came back from my 2nd solo trip a few weeks ago and loved it. Couldn't agree more about doing what u want to do and just enjoying yourself. I really like that and I really never felt all that lonely.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy POP as much. In regards to not receiving the text are you from the US? Unfortunately if not they will not text you.

I am from the U.S. Probably the room just became available and they hadn't sent it yet. I just wanted to let others know that it's good to check in case you need the room for some reason.
