just got back from 10 days at pop and really enjoyed it. we like the option of walking across the bridge to aoa food court for the make your own pasta. having stayed at csr and pofq in the past, the expanded food options are a real plus for us. we stayed in the 50's section for the first time and really liked that as well. previously we had stayed in the 80's and 90's. this was also the first time they actually did the check in where you skip the front desk and it was perfect. the room was clean and while we were there they were painting the outside of some of the 50's section. everything looked well maintained. at times the food court was pretty busy, but still manageable. at other times it was really quiet. also, the bus service was really great for us. don't think we ever waited more than 10 minutes and most times the bus was either there waiting or came right away. one morning in particular they had 3 of those double bendy busses all waiting in a row to take guests to mk. all in all a great stay : )

So glad you had a great stay. Looking forward to our first stay at POP. We also like the create your pasta from our stays at Riverside, so I think we will definitely take the trip over the bridge to try it out. About 40 days to go for us!!!

Only 6 months till 4 days at my happy place (before moving to my even-happier place...AKL!). I don't want to wish away my life, but if the next 24 weeks can go quickly, that would be great..

I understand there are no coffee makers in the rooms, but can I request one? If not, where can I get coffee before 6am? Thanks for you help

Hi, we arrive in three days.... was reading the first posts about the updated hair dryers.... are they okay or do I need to pack mine ? thank you

I have thick hair, and used the one provided (not wall-mounted). It worked very well! I was glad I hadn't packed my large one from home.

Your room will either have the really weak wall mounted one or you will have a slightly better one that is not wall mounted. If your hair is long or thick bring your own.

This wasn't the case with mine; it worked very well!

There are no coffee makers available. I shipped a Black & Decker single cup travel one from Amazon (and brought it home in my suitcase). It cost about $15, and I also shipped a couple of Amazon Prime Pantry boxes, so had coffee and disposable cups. I need my coffee first thing, and am not willing to get dressed and walk to the food court to get it. If you're like me, I recommend this one. It uses #1 filters I believe, so I found those and brought from home. I took a few Splenda from the food court. We rarely used our refill mugs!

Thanks! I'll try ordering one

I think you'll like it! Get the filters & I liked having disposable coffee cups. I used bottled water mostly (only because I had plenty of water from the Prime Pantry boxes). I also used Cafe Bustelo I think coffee - it's cheap but delicious! I just have to have my coffee in my pajamas.

Here's the new hair dryer-I'd be surprised if any rooms at POP still have the wall-mounted units.:)

The room I had last weekend had the wall mounted one. They are really weak. The bagged ones are much better but still not that powerful. My guess would be 1200 watt.

Checked into POP this evening. So excited because we got our request to have all adjoining rooms with two connecting and to be close to Classic Hall. We are in building 5 in the 60's with a lake view. It's the perfect location and we are already loving POP!
Dang it. We also checked in today and requested building 5 and didn't get it. Did you take my room?

We checked into Pop yesterday and got our bottom floor and close to transportation requests! We are in the 90's section building 8. Our room was missing some soap and shampoo. And some medicine was left inside our safe. I took it to the concierge and hope they will mail it back to the owner. They also gave us some soap and shampoo. When we got back to our room tonight my daughter had birthday card and we had double helpings of soap and shampoo!

Nice. We're in the 70's, lakeside, building 6 on the ground floor. It's a great room and location, so I've really got nothing to complain about.

We just got back last night after staying at both Pop Century and Cabana Bay at Universal. I mention this because their theming is similar in a way which was fun. Cabana Bay is definitely more ornate but we really enjoyed Pop. The bus service was very good and the rooms were comfortable and clean. We didn't go to the food court but we did explore the resort otherwise and it's really nice and quiet considering the size! We got the top floor in the 50's section which was a great location. I did notice that the 80's and 90's were kind of far away from everything but 50's, 60's and 70's all looked great.

We did have the hair dryer in the bag but never used it. I did miss having a coffee maker and think that the idea of bringing a small travel version is a good idea.

Thanks for the information. I have question, off topic. I hope people won't mind, but, how was universal. I have been thinking of giving it a try. I just love Disney so much, afraid I wouldn't enjoy it as much. I have considered a split stay, but I'm just not sure. My kids are 13 and 11 and they may enjoy universal too. Just was hoping for a little feedback

We adore Universal but it's hard to judge for others. It isn't Disney and doesn't pretend to be but has its own distinct style. It is more restful and at the same time has an edge of excitement that Disney doesn't usually have.

DS talked me into going when he was a young teen and I was concerned like you. I fell madly in love but I know that many others prefer Disney. The trouble is that you'll never know unless you try it. Maybe you could try one night during a longer trip?

JMO- But, Universal if definitely worth a visit. If you have any Harry Potter fans, the theming is amazing. Diagon Alley, in particular, is absolutely incredible. I am a huge ride chicken and also get motion sickness easily, so I do end up sitting out on quite a few rides but DH and the kids (20, 16, 12) love Universal's rides. For me, two days is enough for what I want to do; the rest of the family would probably prefer three.
I HIGHLY recommend Universal's deluxe hotels. I won't pay the $ for deluxe at Disney; we stay value or moderate at Disney instead. But, the deluxe prices at Universal are much more reasonable and you get the unlimited express pass (or whatever it's called) for most rides. A one night stay will get you 2 days of the pass. Portofino Bay is our favorite, but we really like Hard Rock as well. (We haven't stayed at Royal Pacific)
