Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I have a sad. The Army decided we are moving the week before Thanksgiving to a base where there is no housing so we have to house hunt when we get there. This means that we had to cancel our trip for the first week of December. I rescheduled it for Dec 2016, but I really really really want to throw an 8 yr old temper tantrum because I don't get to go this year. At least, after we move, we will only be about 6-6 1/2 hours from Pop so maybe we will be able to go more often for shorter trips.

Well bummer. Slime is not appealing in a sandwich and I doubt the GF bun would hold up if Texas toast was not up to it.

I want to do at least one meal at the resort so I'll keep looking over the menu.

The chicken parmesan with alfredo sauce is delicious, we also enjoyed the meatball sub and the beer batter fish and chips but I so wish they still had the moms night out and the philly steak wrap.

Sorry to hear about your trip having to be canceled. Hopefully, you will be able to go for some shorter trips, and I'm glad you can reschedule. I don't blame you for wanting to throw a tantrum. I would too! Good luck with your move, and I hope all turns out for the best!

I was about to ask what was actually good there so thanks for your post. I was about to just stick to ice cream!

By the way, the picnic burger looks terrifying. :scared:

DisneyRunner2009, from what I have read from dansdad, the only ones that get their room # texted to them are the ones that get "Bypass the front desk" during on-line check in. Since my on-line check in says "streamline check in, present you id at the front desk....." I understand that I won't get my room # until I present my ID at POP. You must have had "Bypass the front desk" during on line check in. Thank you again for all the great info/timeline. That really helps.

Actually, I found this not to be the case on our stay at All Star Sports. We just got back Saturday. I had gotten the streamline check in email to show my ID at the front desk. They had already texted me my room number when we landed at the airport around 1pm. So I knew our room number before I got to the resort. I do not think I would have actually had to do anything at the resort, but I had to stop at the concierge desk anyways to try and get our package. So they looked at my ID, gave us a map, and our celebration buttons.

I agree, I am not a Disney Burger girl anyway and not one of those burgers look appetizing to me :sad2:
Last year the other things that our family of 6 tried that were just ok, were the sloppy joe and chicken pot pie. My 2 grandsons LOVED the monster slice of pizza and salad and my daughter in law enjoyed the Sesame Chicken.
There have been several posts about the Oven Roasted Turkey sandwich with the cornbread stuffing and cranberry mayo but I could never eat that cold. I have also read some good reviews on the flatbreads. They had a philly cheesesteak one a year or 2 ago that I loved but looks like it is gone. :( The cheesy one may be good, the other 2, not so much.
I also miss the original tie die cheesecake when it was an actual slice of cheesecake. Now I just stick with the sundae or homemade ice cream cookie sandwich. I haven't gotten up the nerve to try the Elvis Presley cupcake but my daughter will be with me this year and she is more adventurous when it comes to cupcakes.
I definitely want to check out the carrot and red velvet cake to see if they look as good as they do on the menu boards this trip (doubtful). It sounds like we eat in the POP food court alot but normally we don't. This last trip we had 2 of my younger grandsons so we were at POP more often, either lunch or dinner so we did experience it more than our past trips. This trip will be with two 15 year old girls so we may open and close the parks and get 0 POP time. :rotfl:
I will say that the make your own omelet is a great breakfast-hubby loves it and the kids Mickey waffles are my go to if I want something more than a granola bar. We normally pay out of pocket for breakfast.
Hopefully you can find something you enjoy, if you decide to eat at POP!

Have a safe a fun trip! 35 days for me!:jumping1:

I would LOVE to know our room #'s before we get there so hopefully that will be the case for us too. Either way we will stop and show our IDs!

Thank you prettypatchesmsu.

That picnic burger comment made me laugh out loud--when I was stationed in Germany with the Air Force, the only food to order on midshifts (overnight) was from a place called Pizza Attack--basically whatever the German restaurant thought American pizza was. People would always trick the newest members of our flight into getting the "American" pizza--it had hot dogs, pickles, ketchup, mustard, onions, curry, and ---well I don't know because it was exactly like you said above, terrifying. Thank God I always brought my lunch!! :D

The turkey sandwich is delicious, but you do need to use a microwave to warm it up after you purchase it. I know that sounds like a pain in the butt to do, but it's totally worth it when you taste it hot.

The flatbreads are delicious too.

YAY!!! Thank you Disneylover99! I may just have to try that turkey sandwich, I was hoping I could deconstruct it and have a somewhat of a turkey & dressing dinner. I would have to skip the cranberry mayo and watercress though  How long did you warm it? I don't want rubber toast :rotfl:
Which flatbread did you try and like?
I used to to love their philly cheese steak flatbread but evidently not many people did since it didn't last long.

I nuked it for 2 minutes because I like it piping hot. But I eat it like a hot turkey sandwich with a knife and fork, so I like that my bread gets squishy.

The cheeseburger flatbread and the buffalo chicken flatbread are delicious. The Buffalo chicken is very spicy though.

I was just typing this question as you were asking it SPOERLX3! Thanks so much for your reply Disneylover99, my hubby really wants to try this sandwich but was really put off by the fact that it was served cold.

ETA: The Cheeseburger Flatbread was on my short list of things to try, good to know it's delicious!

I might have to try some of this...

I see that they at least used to have a tuna sandwich too. I wonder if it's anything like the heavenly version at CHH?

Do you miss out on the "welcome packet" though? My husband and I have never stayed at POP before and I want to do online check in, but I want to go to the lobby and get a map and all that too. Will we miss out on that stuff?

During my last visit, I noticed there were Pop Century maps available in racks against the wall with the memory shadowboxes. They may have always been there, but it was the first time I'd noticed them.

Since I like the resort maps as souvenirs, it was nice to get several clean copies from there. When I have had at-desk check in, the cast member usually draws in marker where the room is located. During that last visit I did have direct-to-room check in, and there was no map in the room for us.

In addition to the maps they also have the resort activities listing as well. This way you know when pool-side trivia is!

We have reservations for a standard pool view room, but in my online check in I requested 50's building, lake view. Will they be able to fulfill that request with our room category? Seems like "pool view" and "lake view" are opposites.

Looking forward to the new menu!
Me too! I think the Uptown Burger sounds divine. I love unique and interesting foods. I get so tired of plain chicken and burgers and pizza. Why go to Disney for those?

Mussels and cheeseburger flatbread and roasted vegetables . . . :cool1:

Looking forward to my first stay at Pop in February.
