Touring Plans website has a great feature where you can see all of the room views in any given Disney resort room. I can never get the link thingie to work so google "touring plans", in the top banner click on "more" and then click "resorts and hotels." This should get you to the feature. You could check out a number of the views from rooms in the 80s section and contrast/compare with those from the 70s section. Just be cautious of trying to specify room numbers on your online check-in because it really limits the front desk in finding a room for you. Your specific room numbers may already be occupied.

I used the Touring plan room view and was able to have touring plans fax a room request in for me. I got the exact room I requested (they request the room or one like it)! 6458 (70s building 6 - faced the lake)

I subscribed to Touring Plans but I don't love the layout of the website so I didn't do a lot of exploring. Thanks so much for posting about the room views! I was thinking I wanted a room in the 70s but the view I like is actually in the 50s.

Normally I wouldn't care about the view whatsoever but it's our honeymoon and I want it to be a little special. We're not going during FD and there's no RO offer for our dates yet either, so hopefully we'll have a good chance of getting our 'room with a view'!

I was able to fit a gallon of milk in the fridge when i was there last month. i had to take a shelf out and lay the gallon on its side.

Does anyone know if the mini-fridges in the room will hold a gallon of milk? We are ordering a few groceries from Garden Grocer and thought I should ask before I order. Thanks!

DD put a gallon of milk in the frig during our recent visit. She did have to remove one shelf.

As some PP's have mentioned a full gallon will only fit on it's side minus the shelf. Doing that leaves very little room for anything else. The fridge only has that one shelf. A half gallon fits on the door, leaving space for other items. You have to be careful about placing items against the back on the fridge as anything touching it will freeze.

I had to pull out the fridge and adjust the temp on my last visit in March. I didn't feel that it was cold enough for milk. It took several hours to cool down after I adjusted it.

I'm wondering how the ground floor, lake view 60's building is? Do those rooms get noisy? Or maybe the top floor would be best since there is no one above making noise?

So what i am saying is that it does not hurt to crank it up as soon as you check in so that it already getting cold even though there nothing in there until you buy the groceries--- it just a sound advice for everyone---because it can be easily forgotten to crank it up after putting food in fridge-- so last year, i crank it up BEFORE i bought the groceries and it was somewhat colder. That all...It does not hurt to crank it up before you buy the grocery, doesn't it?

We've never had the experience of having the fridge being turned way down when we checked in. It's always been "mid-range" and we just put our stuff in it and head to a park. I've never had to adjust the temperature on one at Disney even when we've had milk in it (I'm not saying other people don't need to adjust the temp, just saying *we* never needed to...so far). I just know that on our mini fridge in our guest room at home, if it gets turned up too cold, everything in the back freezes so we tell our guests not to turn it past 4 or 5. We keep a few bottles of water in it all the time so it always feels cold and people aren't tempted to turn it colder right off the bat. The reality is, the ones at Disney shouldn't be installed in those cabinets -- they need 4-5" of space on all sides of the fridge to allow air to circulate and the fridge to work efficiently. They work much better when pulled out of the cabinet.

Yes, a gallon will fit. At least the fridge in my brother's room last week was able to fit one without laying it on it's side.

60's lakeview are all standard rooms so if this is going to be your request, make sure that is what you are booked 4th floor is definitely considered the quietest with no one above you but we have never had noise problems in any room we have been in. Some disboard friends that have experienced noise issues may chime in here.
We always book standard and request lakeview and in the past we have always requested 4th floor. This must be a really popular request since out of our past 8 trips, we have only gotten it 2 times.
In September we were first floor, building 2 just behind the jukebox and it was super quiet. I didn't really want a ground floor room (or so I thought since I had never had one before) but we requested connecting rooms and that is all that was available at check in. We actually LOVED being on the ground floor!
We have also stayed on the 2nd floor in building 2, it faced the pool but closer to the lake and we still didn't have a noise issue.
The 2- 4th floor rooms we have had were in building 3 and 5 and they were both really quiet. Great views from both rooms but I liked building 3 a little better since we were in the last room on the 4th floor and had a great view of the fireworks from our room. No foot traffic at all since we were the last room.
I think the most quiet of all of our stays were in building 6 and building 10, both on the 3rd floor and this section seemed to be the quietest rooms since there is no pool and it was soooo convenient to Classic hall.

Are you booked standard, standard pool, preferred or preferred pool?
I would make "close to transportation" your ONLY request. This will allow the room assigner the best options for you to be close to transportation from what is available in your booked category.

I don't know if they have fixed this bug or not but when I did my online check-in for POP early last fall, I ended up with 3 choices. I initially chose 2 (lake view, 50s bldg). A few days later, I realized I would rather have top floor than lake view so I went back in to try to change this, checked "top floor" but couldn't "unclick" lake view. I ended up with the 3 choices saved for my online check-in. I ended up getting a room that matched all 3 wants. I didn't do it on purpose. And I'm certainly no tech wizard. It was a happy accident. In the end, it all worked out for me

I requested 60's, 4th floor and got 50's first floor
We did get connecting rooms, which was the only request on our ressie so maybe this was the only set of connecting rooms that were available when we checked it.
We ended up LOVING our location so all was good!
