Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Does anyone else not make any room requests and just let Disney decide? We have always done that. Now that we leave in 2 days I am starting to get nervous. It seems like everyone makes room requests. Are there rooms that are terrible or will we be okay? We aren't that fussy, but all the requests people have are making me worry.

Only a small percentage of people who go to Disney are on these forums. I very rarely have made requests other than through online checkin and have never been disappointed.

You don't need to worry. I think making requests is part of the fun of planning, rather than a requirement.

At POP, to get a pizza you have to use 2 TS credits not CS credits. Not worth it IMO. Pizza wasn't bad there last time I had it, but is WAY CHEAPER to pay OOP for it rather than using TS credits. JMHO

Is this new? In March of this year we did the pizza deal and it was 2 CS credits....

I would not do it if it was TS, that is for sure! it was tasty pizza, but not worth the credits otherwise!

That's good to hear! We have two rooms and I hope they are adjoining so I didn't want to make too many specific requests! :)

Oooh, I love your user pic!

No worries! The only request we make is highest floor (we are the anti-ground floor people ;)), and we have never had a bad room. It's all good! I do not think there is a bad room in the whole resort...it is just preferences that people have.

I copied this right out of the 2015 Deluxe Dining Plan PDF...

"Each Pizza Delivery meal includes:
A total of two (2) Adult Table-Service meals will be redeemed from your meal plan balance for each Pizza Delivery meal. Gratuities are included."

So I don't know when it changed in 2014, but its definitely that way for 2015.

That is Pizza Delivery :thumbsup2

Just booked a "preferred pool view" room and now I'm questioning whether it was worth the "upgrade". Does anyone have experience with these rooms? Is it worth the extra few dollars? It'll just be me & DBF.

Thank you in advance :)

Personally, it is the one category I won't book. It is extremely noisy IMO. I LOVE facing the bowling pin pool (which in my experience has always been quiet) but to listen to the noise & music from the Hippy Dippy pool would drive me NUTS!! But that is just me. :)
I have found that there are many other locations within the resort that are much better than a preferred pool view. ;)

I personally don't book preferred anymore. Last visit to All Star Movies we booked preferred, they placed us as far back as you possibly could go in building 4 of 101 Dalmatians. We were literally the last room on the far corner of the building, parking lots foliage view. Great for having a real quiet room, but very far away considering we paid extra for it.

This time we are staying at Pop standard room, will see if it is any better.

That is for delivery...I was curious about the meal in the Food court...no delivery required :)

And, I looked again, and it was actually August 2013 we did this, so maybe it has changed within the year?

Preferred Pool View - I don't think any room is worth an up-charge at Pop (location wise..), but we have been upgraded to Preferred Pool View - 3rd or 4th floor in the 60's, overlooking the Hippy Dippy and it was very nice. Great view at night - so pretty all lit up. The noise was never bothersome for us.

149 days!

Preferred pool view will get you closest to the Classic Hall Food court and right in front of the Hippy Dippy pool. Here is a map of POP with the room categories highlighted (preferred pool view is highlighted teal blue). http://i962.photobucket.com/albums/ae107/braverman4/POP%20Century%20Thread/PopCenturyMap2012RoomCategoriesFINAL.jpg
If I were booking preferred pool view, during on-line check in, I would select top floor and highest floor just to get away from some of the noise.
We have only booked preferred pool view once and we were on the 4th floor and we loved it. We felt like we were right in the middle of all the action and so close to everything.

I was upgraded to preferred Pool April 2013, those horrible rotten CMs!!! Now I want that room every time. We were ground floor, right next to Baloo and Mowgli. It was awesomesauce. We did not notice it being loud like people complain, but I wonder if that was because we were on the ground floor and there were bushes between us and the pool that broke up the sound. Given my choice, I would stay there every time, but I am too cheap to pay for the upgrade.

Random question; does anyone know if they sell any sort of bottled coffee at Pop, or anywhere on property for that matter? Arriving Sunday, was planning to have a coffee maker shipped, that fell through (not happy with Staples right now) and trying to come up with alternatives. I know I can get coffee at the food court, but I'm trying to come up with an option I can hit the minute I open my eyes. :coffee:

Not sure about your question, but if it were me and I wanted to hit the ground running with coffee as soon as I got up, I would fill up my mug and keep it in the room fridge overnight. Then again, I actually prefer iced coffee to hot, so this would actually be a perk to me.

That's an excellent suggestion. :worship:

That really is a great suggestion!!!! I much prefer iced coffee..

We too are going to fill our mugs with coffee and put in the fridge for the next morning. I have been reading how the food court has an issue with the ice machines never having ice. Does each of the buildings (we are requesting 50's section) have an ice machine? If so, that ice is ok to consume, right?
