Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

We just booked a last minute trip to WDW and staying at Pop in a standard room. If we would like to be closer to the main area is there a particular building we should request?
I would recommend requesting 60's or 70's but just a heads up that those are very popular requests as many feel the same as you. Another good choice is the 50's section.

Last year we were in a standard room in the 50's section, building one. The view was the parking lot but we were right on the corner so it was a very short walk to the main building and busses.

Just request "close to main building". The rooms that are closest are at least partly Preferred.

Pop is not that big, about 2,000 feet across, so nothing is more than a seven or so minute wslk, unless you actually are going from Building 8 to Building 2.

Have stayed very close to that room, just a few down. It’s a great location! It really doesn’t matter to me what our view is from our room at a value or moderate cause you don’t have a balcony anyway so it’s not like you’re sitting outside taking it all in.

My thought exactly! It was a great location and I requested that building again so we will see in a couple days if we get it!

I agree, for us it's all about location, location, location! :)

Totally agree. While I loved our lake view room location in Building 4, we really didn't get to enjoy the view any time other than as we were coming and going from the room. It's not like we kept the curtains open to enjoy it -- I don't want people looking in my room as they walk by (though obviously, some people don't seem to mind that as I see a lot of curtains left open while people are in their rooms). We've had a parking lot view a few times and I'm perfectly fine with that. It's usually a quiet location since it's *not* facing a pool...or the courtyard where all the housekeeping golf carts congregate and make that loud beeping noise every time they back up. :)

Dh and I just booked our weekend getaway to experience SWGE during the AP previews! So, now I'm needing a little reminder about what the king rooms are like. I know it would only be a request, but I'm trying to decide if we even want to request one to begin with. Are most of them accessible? What does that mean? I feel like I've heard the beds are lower and the bathrooms are different in some substantial ways. Should we just stick with the queen room and be happy with the extra floor space from not having to put the other bed down?

We will be at Pop in a few weeks on the DP and wanted to know about recent experience swapping a beverage for a snack item when using a CS meal credit? So excited to be there! :)

We haven’t stayed at Pop since the queen beds were installed, but we have stayed in King rooms before. One was clearly HA - shower only, just a curtain separating it from the sink area, and the floor always seemed to flood no matter how we arranged the curtain, aimed the shower head, etc. Nothing else sticks out in my memory of that room nor of the other one, so I guess it wasn’t HA. That said, next time we book Pop I won’t request a king bed - a queen size bed is fine for DH and me, and I am looking forward to the extra floor space with the Murphy bed up. I might request a shower only, though!

It has been a few years since our last trip. Do folks still fax in their room requests a few days ahead of time as a reminder or nah? I know there is a place in online check in for you to check off a couple of requests but I'm mostly interested in reminding them of the adjoining or as close as possible to my daughter's family. Thanks!

Most people phone in their requests although some still say they get better success FAXing. I can't say I've ever really noticed any difference and I've contacted them numerous different ways.

We fax our room requests in using Touring Plans fax service. We have about 50-50 success. Good luck!

Booked almost a month ago but have yet to call in my room request as I'm just so undecided. Just when I think I've figured it out, another location seems better. We booked a standard room and most important is near main building/buses, convenient to skyliner, and quiet (thus, reason we didn't book a pool view). Was thinking of requesting "60s or 70s lake view" but building 1, 3 or 9 seems fine too and maybe even closer? It seems like you can't go wrong with anything other than building 2 or 7 or 8?

I wouldn’t stress about it too much as all you’re doing is putting in a request. Due to Pop running at (near) capacity it’s not always easy for them to grant requests. For the past 2 years (4 visits to Pop) it’s been 50/50 for us getting what I requested.

I’d put in a request and see what you get. If you really want sonething different from what you’re assigned, you can go to the check-in desk and see if they can possibly move you.

I stressed about this on the last trip and ended up in building 2 when we arrived. I thought “oh great, a long walk to the main building.” I was very pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t long, at all! I was very happy with this location.

And it is a fun walk by Bowling Pool,Lady,Tramp,Jukebox, etc on the way to Classic Hall! :)

(Building 2 is the one with the Jukebox for anyone not familiar.)

Thanks for the above comments. And cute photo...seems like lots to look at along the way no matter where you are located.
