Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I plan to book my package on Monday for last week of Feb 2016 trip, whoohoo, finally....but even after reading this entire thread I still have some questions....

1. My preference would be 60's building, not facing the pool, closest to classic hall and a high floor - what should I book as far as "standard or preferred" to increase my chance of getting exactly that? I know I can request my preferences at time of booking, but I want to make sure I reserve the right type of room to increase my chance of getting what I want. I am thinking I should book "preferred".

2. Does online check in or in person check in increase your odds of getting what you really want?

2. We are driving, is taking a small coffee pot a feasible idea?

Thanks!! =)

You only get 2 request with online check in. So I would just choose 60's top floor. I usually check 60's lake view but sometimes you would still get the bottom floor at check in

1. book preferred to get you closest to Classic Hall (not preferred pool). The preferred rooms are highlighted in yellow on this map:

When you are making your reservation on line it won't give you a place for requests so call Disney and add 60's, close to Classic Hall, 4th floor once you have your reservation number or you can book it with a Disney CM. Make sure you list your requests in order. If 60's is most important, list that first, if 4th floor is most important, then list that first. Preferred is going to be the rooms closest to Classic Hall so list that one last. Then when you do your online check in you can choose 2 optional requests from this list (just make sure what you check during on-line check in does not contradict what you have on your reservation):

You will have to decide which 2 are the most important between (60's, 4th floor or near transportation). I would choose 60's & 4th floor since preferred is going to get you into a room closest to Classic Hall/transportation anyway.

2. I have no idea if on line vs in person gives you a better option but when you get your room assignment if it doesn't start with room 44xx or 54xx, you can always go to guest services when you get there and ask kindly if they by any chance have any rooms available in building 4 or 5 on the 4th floor.

3. yes, you can bring a small coffee pot.

I always make requests remembering that all of these are only requests and as much as Disney tries to accommodate, if there are no 60's rooms on the 4th floor closest to Classic Hall available, you may get a 60's room on a different floor or a 4th floor room in buildings 1, 3, 6 and 0.

During our last trip, I requested on my reservation connecting rooms, 50's, 4th floor, lakeview. I had connecting rooms as my main request. During on line check in, I chose 50's, 4th floor. We were assigned connecting rooms, 50's (building 2), lakeside but a ground floor room. I was happy, we got 3 of our 4 requests that were on our reservation and 1 of our 2 requests that we chose during on line check in and since our main request was connecting rooms, that is all that really mattered plus we ending up loving the ground floor so much, that is one of our requests this year. This will be our 9th trip to POP and we have loved every room/section/floor that we have stayed in.
:tinker:pixie dust for the perfect room!

Thank you so much - very informative!!!

Does the one bus stop bother anyone? We stayed at POR a week ago and want to try something different for our next trip. I was thinking about POP to save money or POFQ but since I saw POFQ has only one stop were thinking POP for sure.

It definitely started to bother us. It is one of the things that pushed us to the Moderates. I much prefer sitting in the shade waiting instead of standing in the hot sun. We've stayed 72 nights at a Moderate and have never had the issue of people bum rushing the bus when it pulls up. But then again we're at the bus stop for rope drop just about every morning, so maybe that's why.

 WOW Dream Trip!

That isn't all one vacation is it? :hyper2:

I do not want to do on-line check-in, but I do want to send room requests. I always get confused between adjoining and connecting. How do I let WDW know?

You can call Disney reservations (one number is 407-934-7639) to add room requests.

Connecting means rooms that have an interior door that can be opened in between the rooms. Adjoining means rooms that are next to each other that may or may not have a connecting interior door. So if you want that interior door, you need a ask for connecting as only some rooms at Pop Century have that option.

Connecting is 2 rooms that have a door that opens to each of them. There are alot fewer connecting rooms than attached rooms.
Attached rooms are rooms next door to each other (or close to each other) but they do not have the door connecting them.
All requests can be made by calling Disney and asking them to add the request to your existing reservation.
If connecting/adjoining rooms is your most important request, make sure you list it as your first request and you will need to be flexible with locations. Once you have requested connecting/adjoining rooms the rooms it may limit the room assigner and if you start requesting a certain floor or a certain area (50's, 60's, etc) it will limit them even more. And always remember, these are only requests and not guaranteed :thumbsup2

i tried calling pop century earlier this week to add requests, the lady there told me that i couldn't do so until 7-10 days before my trip...we don't go until thanksgiving, so i know i have quite a bit of time, but i thought for sure i could've added some requests now...should i have called this number instead of pop century directly?

Call back. You can add requests at any time. Just use the general 1 800 reservation line.

thank you! i thought something didn't seem right, it didn't seem very "Disney-like" to not be able to help me out hahaha I'll try again!

I agree, try again. You can call and add requests anytime at the main Disney number. I just called this week to 407 WDISNEY (407-934-7639) to add connecting/adjoining rooms to my reservation. It makes no difference to me if they have the door in between and I want to give the room assigner every chance to find me a couple of rooms close/next to each other, that meet my other request :goodvibes

Does the one bus stop bother anyone? We stayed at POR a week ago and want to try something different for our next trip. I was thinking about POP to save money or POFQ but since I saw POFQ has only one stop were thinking POP for sure.

Waiting in a very long line every time we wanted to go to a park got old fast. We've stayed at POR, CSR, and CBR. Even with their numerous bus stops, it still took us longer at Pop. The lines at Pop were so crazy. They are uncovered and you can't sit. We've never encountered people "rushing the buses" at the moderates. I know people have had good bus service at Pop, but we had a terrible experience.

some where I saw a map that showed which rooms were handicapped does anyone have this I can't seem to find it now

I actually prefer it. Once you get on the bus its straight to the park!

I agree with vrajewski10513. I would much rather stand in the line at POP, get on the bus and be on our way to the park than get on a bus and then make several more stops to pick up around the resort before we can get to a park. And I love the way the specific parks, waterparks and DTD each have their own individual waiting area's. We get in the line for the park we are visiting that day and get excited when we see our bus come around the corner :jumping1:
With 8 previous stays at POP, we have had no problems at all with the buses. We are rope drop people so this may make a difference. We have stayed at several of the moderates but never at POFQ so I can't speak for the bus service there but it is beautiful. :goodvibes

thank you! i'll try that number today! i called the pop century number and was super disappointed that they couldn't help me!

We are headed to the POP, October 16 to 27! :cloud9: We stayed there for two weeks in August of 2011, which was our first on-property stay. When we began planning this trip, there was no doubt that we'd go back to the POP.

We haven't booked our flights yet, but are hoping we can arrive mid-day on Friday, October 16. I am looking into a delivery from Garden Grocer since there are refrigerators in the rooms now (:-)), and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what I might expect? The last time we used grocery delivery was when we were staying off-site in a condo and it was easy to tell them they could arrive whenever on a day we knew we'd be there. Does the POP want deliveries to happen after you've arrived and checked into your room? If you have refrigerated items in the delivery and you haven't arrived, will the POP provide cold storage? I would like to schedule the delivery for the Friday we arrive, and am hoping I don't have to wait around; we plan to hit the parks as soon as we possibly can!

I love this thread and have been greedily reading to catch up on the latest as we prepare to return. Thanks to everyone for all of the awesome information!
