Seven Seas Lagoon Views Obstructed by Maintenance Work at Disney’s Polynesian Resort’s ‘Ohana Restaurant

Views of the Seven Seas Lagoon from ‘Ohana are currently obstructed by refurbishment work taking place Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

The disclaimer was posted on the ‘Ohana restaurant website:




As of this time, there are no changes to ‘Ohana’s operating hours or menus, and it remains open for its signature island-inspired breakfast and dinner and character dining.

Old Guard Shack Demolished, Frame in Place for New Bus Depot at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort​

Following the reconfiguring of the roadway entrance to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, crews have demolished the former entrance’s guard shack and installed framing for new bus stops.



The guard shack and its surrounding flowerbeds are completely gone, leaving only a long patch of dirt. We saw crews preparing for demolition a few days ago. The gate infrastructure was also completely removed.



This entrance is off Seven Seas Drive and will become a bus-only entrance. Until construction is complete, buses are entering along with other vehicles at the new Floridian Way entrance and dropping guests off at the porte cochere of the Great Ceremonial House.



Between the old and new entrances is the framework for a new bus depot. The old depot was demolished and this steel frame was installed in the past few days. It has triangular pieces to create the roof shape, but no roofing has been added yet.


Crews are also finishing up a sidewalk between the bus depot and porte cochere, which leads from the parking lot to the Great Ceremonial House. More of the sidewalk has been paved but the land around it still needs to be filled with plants.

Renting points at DVC in October, all it says is studio, does that mean it could be the longhouses or the tower, or just the longhouses?

The tower studios sleep 4 while the longhouses sleep 5. I agree that if you've booked it recently, I would think you're most likely staying in the longhouses.

I think we booked our March trip at month 9 and the tower studios were all sold out for resort view. I can't remember if that was the case for theme park view.

Construction Continues Across Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

The ongoing project is expected to overhaul the resort’s main entrance, bus loop, and parking lot.

When construction is complete, the resort’s previous entrance will be converted into a bus-only entrance, while guests will arrive via the new roadway entrance that opened late last year.

As work continues, we’re back with another update!

Construction on the New Bus Debut Continues

When visiting Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort this morning, we could see that construction on the new bus area is still well underway.

Here is the view from the parking lot.

To reach the Great Ceremonial House, guests must currently navigate a maze of construction walls and planters.

While the pathway is clearly marked and easy to follow, it is not exactly aesthetically pleasing.

Here is another look at the current construction.

As you can see, this is a major project.

Bus Service Is Available at the Resort’s Porte Cochere​

With the new bus depot under construction, guests are currently boarding buses at the resort’s porte cochère.

Van pickups and guest drop-offs are also still located in this area.

‘Ohana and Captain Cook’s Construction

In addition to the transportation updates, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is also refurbishing ’Ohana.

As we previously reported, the restaurant will remain open during the renovations, though views of Bay Lake may be partially or fully obstructed.

Finally, the tables outside of Captain Cook’s have been removed as work continues in that area as well.
