Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

I wouldn’t be surprised if they stop doing this.
I actually hope they do! Would be a good idea. Owners and guests need the spaces, it was always close to a full lot whenever we went to park, and that was before the PIT opened. And their lot is small so I imagine there is overflow into the regular Poly lot. And guests arriving to go to O'hana who need to park... Not sure why they even started to do that, it's a potential internet/vlogger "hack" to get free MK or even Epcot parking in the afternoon.

Thanks for the update! Parking is what concerns me, especially now that they allow parking for non-guests after 2pm to go to Wailulu. Be there in September, will be interesting to see where they are with construction by then.
Where did you see the information that Guests going to Wailulu Bar & Grill would be able to park? Is there an official source that we can confirm?

If this is nuts if confirmed since the obvious hack is to say you are going to Wailulu Bar & Grill, park, and enjoy MK or any of the other parks.

A lot of the vloggers and bloggers reported it, it may have even been on Disney's site. I remember Disney Food Blog posting. Let me look and see if I can find a link!

Edit: Here is a link to an article from All Ears, from May 2nd.

Thanks for the quick response. I don't count either of those source as official statement but just a data point of a rumor from some CM at the Poly. This is not going to end well now that they have starting clearing the parking lot in front of the GCH, and valet moved over to grab other general guest parking spaces.

So they go from welcome 1-and-all to park for Waiilulu Bar and Grill, Tambu Lounge, or Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto on May 2nd, that parking will be allowed starting at 2 PM until closing! And on June 12th, Oh we are reducing parking spaces. this is nuts.

Does anyone know where the Mears bus picks up guests going to the airport? We've never used Mears, but I've got my daughter scheduled for a pick during our trip as she needs to fly home early.

Disney Clearing Polynesian Parking Lot for New Guest Entrance Road

A section of the parking lot at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is being cleared to make way for a new vehicle entrance to the resort. The project is part of Disney’s larger infrastructure changes following the Island Tower addition.

Disney's Polynesian Resort New Entrance Construction - June 2025

The reconfiguration will separate bus and car traffic by repurposing the existing entrance road as a dedicated bus-only route. A new road will be constructed to serve as the main arrival point for cars and other non-bus vehicles.

By splitting the traffic flow, Disney aims to streamline the arrival process for resort guests, reducing congestion and improving safety. The current parking lot work is focused near the front entrance area, where crews are clearing pavement and shifting guest parking away from the future road alignment.

Disney has not yet released a timeline for the road construction.

I know this is going to be messy and inconvenient for a while, but once it's finished I think it's going to make getting into and out of poly much more pleasant.

Do you have to make a reservation for Wailulu?
No, we just walked in around lunch time. Had our choice of eating on the outdoor terrace or indoor. We chose indoor. It was hot out. I did go check out the outdoor seating area and bar and it was quite comfortable. Roofed, with fans, so it was shady and fairly cool.

Ah we weren’t in the lobby yesterday because we went to Epcot so we didn’t notice shop construction. gf wants to ship her lightsaber home so I guess we’ll see today.

We’ve been here since Wednesday and are checking out today. Have not really noticed any additional monorail crowding due to the tower, which I figured would be the case—people ride at different times. One thing that was very much different than past stays was even the first buses of the morning to HS and AK were stopping at GF first, which had never been the case. We also had a hiccup yesterday with the Epcot monorail not running for rope drop so we had to take a bus from the TTC and that pretty much scuttled our plans to double up on Cosmic Rewind (we already had LLs).

They are also not doing pool wristbands here like the other deluxes, which is very surprising and frankly disappointing. We totally avoided the Lava pool as it was a zoo every time we looked at it. Oasis patio was a godsend with the weather on our pool day and I would not assume they werent booked up just because you don’t see anyone there. We showed up “late” to ours.

I will say the only real pain points about Poly being so busy with visitors is the usual stuff—Pineapple Lanai line was around the corner on Saturday night, the beach almost looked like the hub at fireworks time. We noticed a lot of enormous groups this time that were just annoying—a group of 14 for trader sam’s, another big group treating the hot tub like their personal one at home.
What did you expect to happen when the pool that was already busy had a whole tower of additional people now who want to use that pool? The pool by the tower is kind of lame compared to the lava pool, of course they will all favor the lava pool over it which is why the oasis pool was empty the other days. I don’t think wrist bands will help out at all and is just a scapegoat to the actual issue.
