Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Thanks your update from the resort. Any updates on the Wailulu Bar & Grill or how busy the pools are for this holiday weekend?

Just to clarify the lady you met lost the preferred view lottery. She got a room on floors 6-8, one of the (8) deluxe studios - preferred view studios that have the same view as you but since they are sightly higher up so they get to see the Golf course in the distance. The deluxe studios - preferred view studios on floors 4-5 actually overlook the resort / cove pool.

The other (16) deluxe studios of the (24) - preferred view studios overlook the resort / cove pool / Seven Seas Lagoon.

That’s true. However I don’t want to risk it. You can see the views of that side/entry and golf from the upper floor hall windows and green space lounges. I’m not a fan.

Also floor 2 doesn’t have a view. I agree with Tom Corliss wdnt the wall on 2nd floor blocks any view unless tall and standing.

I am always willing to pay for what I want. No view or undesirable is not generally worth it for me. Things happen like last minute changes or discount availability so I do book things I don’t love at times.

Thx for the input for people following , Dave. Nice details.

Roundabouts and more roundabouts. With thousands of tourists on unfamiliar roads, what could possible go wrong!?! lol. 😂

But yeah, that whole roadway project just seems to go on and on.
Our bus driver got lost from Poly to HS just yesterday. We ended up north of MK and she just stopped in the lane for at least 10 mins. We ended up in the MK support parking lot and got to HS eventually 50 mins after boarding. A team leader popped on bus and said sorry , we will direct your driver you’ll get there soon after sitting 30 mins.(road and lot time)

🥵

We are staying June 13-22. I called 60 days out for our trip and nothing for any patio. Let me tell you getting up at 3:45 am to make that call was no fun and then no luck. I have subsequently tried about 7 different times to see if anything and I have had some CM more helpful then others. I will try to see what I can get the day of on a few of our break days.
good luck to you blue oranda!
Booking patios this year has definitely been harder than years past and that is with a longer stay. We have never had this much difficulty and that is calling right at 60 days 7am on the dot. Fingers crossed you are able to find a cancellation.

With lots of rain that space was nice! Took some wine with us and watched the rain and seven seas lagoon. Then headed to GCH when our Kona res was close. Nice to have the option.
Any reason other then it was the closest terrace to your room vs the Wave Break terrace - 5th floor which has the best view?

2 things.
One the 3rd floor I could walk with a wine glass and not deal with bending over to reach the MB reader on the elevator.

Two, the cage seating thing on the 5th floor is uncomfortable to share with others. The open seating on the 3rd is more relaxing.

Other guests I met felt the same (those that tried both).

Most important with 🍷is number 1. 😂

*mb reader is pretty low , you have to bend to reach it.

:D So unescorted kids can enter?
Not sure what you are asking? For elevator the MB reader is low. A kid could reach but most that young don’t have a mb.

For the “green spaces” there are not any locks you just push the door open. Anybody can enter if they are in the building.

Hope that helps.

Sorry, I was joking about their reason for putting the MB readers so low. I can’t think of why they should be so low that someone would have to bend down to use them.

I was actually watching a video about the elevators because the original longhouses on the cash side have very, very bad elevators and get cramped with strollers and/or ECVs. I am guessing it's an accessibility thing so those seated can tap without getting up.

This youtube has a ton of elevator videos (linking PVB Island Tower)

My mom needed an ECV before her knee replacements and that was always a concern at Poly and CR garden wing. Same thing with GCH at Poly. The modern resorts offer a superior elevator experience.

Thank you - of course that’s the reason, accessibility. I’m sad that I didn’t realize that.
