i've been thinking of the song big Yellow Taxi all day, or as you might better know the lyric: They paved paradise and put up a parking lot

With the news of the new dvc resort building this page will Def be detoured away from current events and info, anyone there in the next few weeks that deals with getting to trader Sam's I would beyond appreciate a message about the process if it changed since fall. TIA

I think you are probably right with your picture above. It does feel like it sort of shoehorned into the space. My hope is that the walkway isn't affected after the construction is complete as it's certainly nice being able to walk from the Poly to the GF. But wow, what a mess the monorail crowds are going to be after this. It's sort of a mess now as it is. And again, the lack of theming -looks like an apartment complex.

I'm totally with you on this one ..... we are going in September. We have never stayed at the Poly before, and were SO excited.... now I'm not as excited. But, we did stay at the GF when they were putting up the DVC monstrosity there..... it was SUPER noisy at the pool, but we couldn't hear it in the room at all. but laying at the big pool was not relaxing with all the construction. I think, for us, this will certainly be our last trip to Disney. It seems like the magic is getting replaced with their need for the mighty dollar.

Looks like I have to change all my plans , now .

We dreamed of getting married there someday.

Now I'm just hoping our thrice Covid postponed stay in September won't be messed up from construction. So sad.

I would expect the top of the building to be a high end restaurant with a MK view, not a GV.

Does anyone know yet when construction is going to start ? I cannot seem to find any info at all, except that it's opening in 2024...... maybe they won't start it this year since it's the 50th Anniversary? (wishful thinking?? )

Shame about that building. I'd sort of had my heart set on a third floor westerly view from Fiji for a request for a standard room. Looking out onto the beach and seeing a bit of water. I guess in October/November 2023 it will be an ugly construction site.

that's pretty much exactly where we wanted to stay too..... ( or were hoping to.) now, I think I might maybe change that request .......

Just checking to see if anyone at Poly this week has any insight on the housekeeping issue! I know others disagree but for us, it’s a key benefit to staying at a hotel versus an airbnb. With two spirited boys, coming back to the room after a long day and seeing the place clean and beds made is a huge pro for us and I had assumed it would be provided, even if only on request, given the cost of Poly. I heard back from the Disney customer service email today was told there would be “modified service every day” but they also linked me to the general Disney housekeeping page, which talks about limited every every other day. Just curious what they’re actually doing now! Thanks!

I really don't like this new hotel. I love how there are not high floors at the poly. This is going to make it look like everything else with probably minimal theming. It better have its own lobby. Doesn't matter though. The monorail in the poly lobby is going to be completely packed

Are they back to making beds? Or is it just trash and towel service every other day?

Thanks for the input! When they come every other day, is it a decent cleaning like making beds, etc or just trash emptying, that kind of thing?
