Hang Ten Over to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for the NEW Surfboard Tiki-Style Mug and Papeete Pipeline POG Drink

After a day at the parks, we swung by Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to relax and enjoy a drink at Tambu Lounge. To our pleasant surprise, they are now offering a new rum and POG drink with a surfboard souvenir mug.

This might be a dumb question - but I would be able to take this onto the beach, right? I was thinking of buying one and taking it out with me to watch the fireworks.

You can get any beverage in a plastic to go cup or like this a purchased one is also fine. Enjoy walking around in style.

Here are the beverages for sale at Poly . Someone asked about it recently so I took some pix.

All of these tiki drink pics are getting me so excited for our trip in just 44 days! We lucked out with a studio villa and it’s our first trip to Poly. So so excited.
FWIW the pool bar has 2 sides. One is in the pool area but the other has a fence separating the bar from pool. This allows guests to order beverages. It seems lately this bar has the shortest lines. Tambu and Traders indoor and outdoor have long lines.

*The waiter takes orders alternating from the inside to outside of pool area so outside gets waited on quick cause more people in the pool line.
They have the spikey pineapple which is dolewhip with rum. I had to get that the other night because the dolewhip line was nuts.
Hope I described that ok?

We are going to be first timers at the Poly this year! Doing a split stay between the Poly Villas and Boardwalk Villas. We are going to be at the Poly July 2nd-6th. Any tips for the 4th of July fireworks? It is my favorite holiday behind Christmas and I for sure want a good seat. Any tips/location advice would be appreciated! We are skipping the parks on the 4th, so its a pool/resort day for us. Thank you in advance!

This may be a silly question but is there any chance of the pool running out of kiddo life jackets due to crowds? We’re driving so I’d like to avoid packing them we can help it but will if we need to.

Make sure to pay attention. They usually give out wrist bands. One color for resort guests and a different color for club level guests. They would have roped off areas on the beach for each. One year I arrived and didn’t get it becuse they had put them in the rooms that morning before my arrival. I noticed people with them and asked.

Prior to Covid they do fireworks both 3rd and 4th. Sometimes the times will be different than normal so again pay attention to signage or check at desks .

The 3rd/4th fireworks are bigger and more special than normal and a must do!

While I have stayed at the Poly a handful of times it has not been during the July 3/4 fireworks. Is the beach reserved for Poly guests on both days? Thanks.

I just saw that there were club rooms available for our 4th dates but I think for a family of 4 (2 kids 2 adults) the villa we have is still the better call. Even if we won’t get as good a fireworks spot. :)

I'm sorry if this info is already out there but I can't seem to find a definite answer.

When are the renovations at Polynesian Resort happening, when are they supposed to be completed? We are planning on going next spring (April 2023) but don't want to be surrounded by construction activity and noise. Thank you!

Renovations or the new tower? The new tower is set to open in 2024 so I imagine there will be construction all throughout 2023.

@CaroM8

Not really renovations at the main part of the Poly resort rooms, and the existing DVC buildings. The resort has had all rooms renovated within the last 12 months including the front entrance and the Monorail station at the Great Ceremonial House (GCH).

The construction will be just west of the main resort rooms at the site of the Spirit of Aloha Dinner show at the Luau Cove location. This construction will fill the space all the way to the Wedding Pavilion along the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Note:. The resort building nearest or directly adjoining the construction area are all west of the GCH:, Aoterao, Fiji, and Tuvalu. The Tonga (Suites) will not be far away. These are all building west of the boat dock area.

The new DVC Tower is scheduled to open in 2024 with a new parking lot, pool and water play area.

The regular resort building furthest away from the construction area would be: Samoa, Niue and the Hawaii (CL only building). These are all building east the the existing Lava feature pool.

I’ve done 7/4 and and 12/31 a handful of times now - with the caveat that exact setups seem to get tweaked year to year, typically the reserved/controlled beach setup happens on 7/4.

How early do buses start running to Animal Kingdom? Looking at a 7:30a early magic entry (8am normal park opening). Am I crazy to be at the bus stop at 6:00? aka...will my family hate me that morning and be sitting around waiting for a bus for 45min? We are all good with an early rope drop and want to knock out FOP, but not sure when buses might actually start arriving.

Actually, it’s recommended that you be at the bus stop 90 minutes before ETPE opening in order to catch the first bus and be near the front of the pack. So your plan is right on target for that!

Just a quick question on the imminent construction. Will the path to GF (and ultimately MK) still be available in July? I would really like to walk over to GF for our ADR at Citrico’s for our 1st night but want to make sure we can get through that way. Thank you!
