Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Ok, this may seem like a crazy question, but where is the “blue resort tv channel” on the Poly TV?? That’s the only reason we turn on the tv. Same song loop for years. I can’t find it!! They have a menu where you can choose some things, but not the channel that just plays on repeat forever. Help! Haha! Regardless, we checked in tonight and we’re loving it!!

Just received my Garden Grocer order today with alcohol. I provided them my license at checkout online. They delivered to bell services this morning. Bell services delivered to my room tonight! I’ve used Garden Grocer multiple times this way.
Thank you. I am planning on using Amazon Fresh

The WDW Today channel is retiring. Poly has received the updated television system and no longer has the channel available to guests. One by one, each resort is getting the enhanced television setup with personalized welcome screen, interactive menu, on demand content, Chromecast, etc.

You can always Chromecast an old version of the channel from YouTube if you miss the music. The information will be outdated, but the music would be nostalgic.

Frankly I can never keep the different services straight, but I 'think' Amazon Fresh is one of those where you need to meet your driver. Garden Grocer has a different setup/arrangement than some of the other services. Hopefully someone who uses Amazon Fresh can chime in!

It's not a crazy question, when we stayed at the Poly (before they got the TV upgrade) I commented to my husband about it being a mainstay. I'm going to miss it being there.

I can live with the TV change (although I miss the old main channel/soundtrack)... but I wish the Poly home channel would play a music loop of some sort other than just the neverending drums. It's like the background track from parts of Jungle Cruise on never-ending repeat. We used to just turn the TV on and leave it for background music, but not with this channel.

That’s what we loved, too! The background music! As I sit in my room right now with the drums beating away, I completely agree!!

😂 I’m actually watching a loop on YouTube as we speak, while I enjoy my morning coffee. Getting into Disney mode 😊

We are booked for April 1-8, 2023. Considering doing a split stay because we really want to try the Wilderness Lodge. Would do 4/3. Has anyone done this type of split specifically? If so, what did you do on the check-out/check-in day?

I have done a million splits or so it seems lol.

Dd and I prefer to head to a park then leave around 10-10:30 for resort 1. Grab our stuff and rideshare to resort 2. Leave with bell services then shop, swim or head to lunch.

Other times we leave bags with bell services as we head to park in the morning and go back to resort 1 later in the day for collection. If resort 1 you want to still eat at or swim at etc this is a good option to keep bags with you.

Sometimes we rideshare from resort 1 to 2 before rope drop and leave bags so we can head to park and go to resort 2 from park.

I haven't used disney transfer much because the bags arrive late (after 1 but usually 3-5p has been my norm).

For a poly wl split we would run to mk for early entry, mono back and grab our bags and head to the pool because I love poly pool . You can keep bags at pool if you want. We do this at the quiet pool.

Then when ready ride share to WL.

Only one person needs to take bags if rest of group wants to explore. Like you could mono to MK then boat to wl and arrive that way.

Some send bags with bell services early in the day and keep swim things etc in a small bag. You can do that if you don't wish to rideshare. Then you can decide at anytime which resort you want to spend midday at .

Thanks for the prompt reply. Good information here -- seems a lot of options for how to do the swap between resorts. This is our first trip to Disney since were both kids ... and our kids (8, 6) first trip. Would you recommend not doing a split in this situation? We are planning 5 park days and were going to do a park day on the day we did the resort swap. But we don't really know what our kids will like more, etc.

I think a split stay sounds like fun if you'll be there that long, and have kids that age. It's fun to try new things, and both resorts are incredibly wonderful in very different ways. Moving isn't that much of a hassle if you don't mind re-packing, and your kids are old enough that you don't have to worry about having a quiet place for a mid-day nap, so it'd be ideal.

I personally would just use the transfer service and not worry about being back at my room until around bedtime. Or if I had a car, I would pack my suitcases in the car and leave them there until I was ready to drive to the other resort.

Each family is different so it’s hard . We ALWAYS went back to the room midday. From their 1st trip at 1 yr to current ages of 25 and 27 when any of the 4 of us go , we do a midday break.

My dh and Ds do not like splits. When dd and I are alone we prefer to stay in one resort but we book many last minute trips and can’t always find what we want OR we want to splurge on a room and can’t afford the whole time so we split.

Keep in mind another way to have fun is to book lunch or dinner at another resort. When I stay at poly for example I try to eat at GF or Poly and sometimes WL. It’s easy enough to get around and we love exploring our favorites.

As a mom splits lots of work for me because I could not trust the others lol. It may depend you you and your families traveling style. Are you all up early so you can pack everything ? Etc.

Let me know if need anything else. Both resorts are good but poly IS my favorite. WL is Ds favorite.

My wife and I really like both... or at least the the,rs. We haven’t been to either one. The kids liked Polynesian more when we showed them videos. I think our desire for the split is to get that WL vibe. Maybe we will just schedule an adult long weekend trip!

We had fun doing a split stay a couple years ago (5 days at Boardwalk, 2 at Poly Club Level). My kids were just a little bit older (16 and 11) and we're pretty solid Disney veterans by that time, which helped as they were good about keeping their stuff neat so repacking mid-trip was not a huge hassle.

Of course that whole trip was a "surprise" for them, so we had them convinced we were going home after Day 5, On transfer day, we arranged for the bags to be transferred by Disney (the kids thought they were picking the bags up for Magical Express). We left them in our room (with a nice tip for the baggage folks), checked out and left to rope drop Studios. We wanted to enjoy the Poly pool, so we left Studios about 4 pm and took a Minnie Van to Poly. We were prepared for possibly not getting our bags until late, so we had packed bathing suits in the park backpack - but turns out we didn't need them. Our bags were already in our room by the time we checked in at 4.

Overall we had a blast experiencing 2 great resorts in one trip. The kids would probably have had just as much fun if they had known about the "add on". The only hassle of the whole thing was repacking mid-trip and, as most will tell you, the fact it's difficult to get premium dining ADRs as Disney's system didn't recognize the trip as one continuous trip - but rather as two separate ones ... so getting an 'Ohana for our 2 day trip took a lot of checking. Not sure if that's still the case, but it was a few years back.

I love splits, but I primarily do them to make getting around WDW easier. My splits usually consist of an Epcot resort and a MK resort. I load my Epcot resort stay days with Epcot and DHS plans and MK resort stay days with MK plans. It makes it SO much easier having 3 parks with easy access. I would then ride share or Minnie Van to and from AK.

For me, personally, I would not want to split Poly and WL. They are both lovely resorts, but it would pain me to go from a monorail resort to a bus only resort. If you don't plan on utilizing WDW transportation, it may be a moot point.

You can always plan a nice meal at WL to get a feel for it before your adults only weekend. Whispering Canyon and Artist Point would both be great with kids!

That’s exactly what we do for our extended summer trips!! It’s our favorite way to do Disney!! We do not touch MK when staying at an EPCOT resort… strictly the other 3 parks… then all monorail/boat/walk to MK from a monorail resort for the 2nd half! It makes it so much more convenient and we really enjoy it!! 🙂

Construction Continues on Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Beach

Construction walls still block off some of the Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort beach, one of multiple construction zones at the resort right now. An excavator is behind the walls to dig up sand for new pipes to be laid.
