Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Excited to be staying at the Poly for a couple nights after a cruise in November! Currently booked CL but checking daily for regular room rates because $$$$. Fingers crossed some things open up as we get closer. As it is, this CL only just popped back as available, so we're lucky to have snagged it.

So hyped that I was able to snag a standard view deluxe studio this morning for our post cruise visit! That club level cost was really eating away at me (and my wallet).

Polynesian birthday, here we come!

Arrive for my first Poly stay tomorrow!
Does anyone know if the monorail starts running earlier on party days since MK opens at 8 and EE starts at 7:30? Or will the monorail open at 7:00? Thanks!!

I have a quick question for all the frequent WDW Poly folks...
Im worried about construction. Spring break April 1 - 7.
We are in the Hawaii building TPV, and I plan to request ground floor to have easy access to the beach.
Will construction in any way impact our enjoyment, including views.
Looking at WL CL instead.
Please give me your opinions!
TIA

I stay in that room type a lot and I’m personally not worried at all. Sure you can see it out across the water to the left, but it’s not like it’s in your face. The CL room categories are the best room categories for the next couple of years since you know what longhouse you will be in, IMO.

Also FYI, there aren’t many (or maybe any) TPV rooms on the first floor - most of those are Lagoon View. None of those rooms offer a true TP view other than a sliver of the castle between bungalows. You can try to request first floor, but be prepared they may put you on 2 or 3.

Hope that helps!

When we were there last November when the EE started at 7:30 they would not let you off the monorail until 7am. We went to get on it and the first thing they said was you can ride it around but we won’t stop at magic kingdom until 7:00am. So we got off walked to grand Floridian and took a boat. Got there at like 6:45 but it didn’t matter bc they wouldn’t even let you in the park until 7 either!

Maybe its Lagoon view I'm in. But i had asked her for sandy beach outside my room and she put in and I paid for that.
Thanks for your info!

I wonder whether they’re getting ready to move the banyan tree? The most recent photos I saw looked like the root ball was almost separated from the ground. It’s so close to the sidewalk that it seems they’ll need that room to maneuver.

They were putting up wooden walls up against the balconies of Figi on the ground floors. I couldn’t take photos unfortunately.

Not sure if doing that would indicate that type of work involving the tree.

I’m a local and love using the walking path on my days off from work. So I’m hoping this is just temporary.

Uh-oh. Wooden walls against balconies on that side sounds more extreme, as if those balconies and the sidewalk will be blocked long term for construction. I hope you’ll be able to resume your walks sooner rather than later!

Let’s not forget the plans showed a new pool and construction boundries right up against Fiji and Aotearoa, which matches some of the above fencing.

I’ve wondered all along if they would actually put people in the rooms facing that area. I could deal with the second or third floor, but many of those first floor rooms will look right at a construction wall. Will be interesting to see.

Is the walkway going to be closed permanentl?
I doubt it - it was too efficient for guests traveling between Poly and GF to spend money on food & shopping, not to mention getting to MK. I’m confident it will reopen when they feel construction of the new Poly tower doesn’t endanger guests on the pathway.

Forgive me if this has been asked before. I'm on my phone and dont know how to search within the thread.
Can I have takeout delivered? My kids are picky and although they like chicken fingers, they won't want to eat it every night. They liked the short rib from Kona to Go but that entree was $36.
We are loving the resort so far.

Unless things have changed, you have to meet the delivery out front by the lobby.

They are not allowed to deliver to the room.

We stay at Poly a decent amount. We order pizza and get it delivered all the time. Drivers are allowed to drive up to the lobby, you just need to meet them there. No issues at all everyone does it :)
