Aloha! We are headed for our first family trip, and first stay at my lifetime dream the Poly the end of this month! I am so excited I might actually burst party:
A few questions though, as we finalize plans and packing. We are staying standard view resort side, and it's 6 of us. 2 adults, 4 kids age 7, 4, and 15m old twins. So we will have a double stroller. Is first floor going to be our best bet? I've heard the elevators are small, so while I'd love a balcony I worry we won't all fit in one trip! Also do the resort side rooms have plenty of toiletries for us or should I plan on packing my own? And are kids allowed to play in the sand on the beaches? I don't think it will be warm enough for us to swim, so they'll need some time to play somewhere. Thanks! I'll probably be back with more questions as I go
If you need more toiletries you can always ask for more. I have very long hair so I use a good amount of shampoo on my own. Then add kids and their 'science/potion' making when in the bathroom... needless to say we use quite a bit. The first floor would probably be best just based on how big those double strollers are.

The Poly is amazing, you will love it!! I agree with the pp that first floor would probably be easiest. The elevators are rather small and while getting a double stoller, 2 more kids, and 2 adults is probably doable, it would be tight. Yes, kids are allowed to play in the sand on the beaches. I was just there in Oct with my niece and she loved playing in the sand. Have a great time and enjoy the Poly :goodvibes.

So excited to have booked our first stay at the Poly! We will be there July 24th-28th.

Congrats on booking your first Poly stay! Enjoy the rest of your planning :wizard:.

I LOVE the pebble floor in the dedicated shower. So much we are getting quotes to put it down in our shower at home! New Years is never a time we’ve considered for a Disney trip but after DH read your review (and realized we don’t HAVE to go into the parks) he’s considering it for 2020. Thank you for the lovely pics!

Speaking of trips, I just realized we are 89 days away from our next Poly visit. :dogdance: I’ll need some suggestions for liquid pain killers after I finish the half marathon! :crutches:

Happy New Year to all the Poly people. pixiedust:

Oh I almost forgot! Trip almost ruined! It was HOT :sunny: out and our 3rd floor room was warm , even set at the lowest temp 68.

Not to worry husband, dw knows where to get help! Disboarder posted that an override was available so I googled it and voila! 65 and cool!:flower1:
Haha yes! We’ve had to use that handy dandy override before too. Very helpful for my super hot hubby! :sunny:

My dh iisnt into rides and loved just enjoying time off from work and no kids.

Truly was one of the best trips! We just enjoyed the weather, listening to the Christmas music piped in all over at poly and gf , and eating and drinking lol.

The boat from poly/gf/MK was a nice way to just relax and enjoy an afternoon.

What does anyone think about the poly patios at the oasis pool? I’ve seen them several times while we were there so I know they are not a regular cabana but thought it might be nice to have for getting out of direct sun. I was able to snag one for July 4th and a few other days for our trip but now im not sure. Is it just a spot to sit or is there anything else included?

I love them! We’ve book them twice and I prefer them to GF cabanas. IMO there is more seating at the Patios.

So - first stay at Poly, arriving Feb 5th. I booked one for the 8th, as we plan to just enjoy the resort and pools that day. It's quite reasonable, so I figured why not?? Its pretty much just a place to sit, I think, but a NICE place to sit and have a "base" for all our stuff.

Thanks! It does look like enough seating for the 5 of us. Did it feel like you were well out of the sun? I'm pretty pale and can't take too much lol!!

If you don't mind me asking what was the cost?

Did one in October 2017 10-7 going home day and loved it.

However for this past week I felt the sun was too low and not enough shade .

Price is pretty good!
Oh I know someone who also has 7/4! You'll all have fun!

Oh thank you for that. That's what I'm worried about. I wonder if one of them is better than the other for that and if you can request one. :beach:

I'd go grab my notes, but my dog is curled up on my lap (she's WAY too big to be doing that, btw), and it's hard to get up. We booked the whole day, and it was under $100. $80 maybe? Half day was about $60 ish?

I just like having a cushioned, semi-shaded area with room to keep our stuff. We can order food and have it sent out there. I don't have to worry about "getting a chair" if it's busy. I think it's worth it, guess I'll find out in a few weeks. If not - I haven't lost a ton of money.

Now, if it was $200 or something? No way. That would need to come with some SERIOUS perks.

I would have taken a pic if people weren’t in it, but I walked by the Oasis Pool mid/late afternoon one day this past weekend and noticed the one on the far left (if facing the Oasis Pool Bar/Grill) didn’t have much shade at all at that particular moment in time with the angle of the sun. Obviously it’s not like that all day.

You can ask to note a request, but I’d be a little suspect of that actually making it to the right person on site. YMMV though.

We’d use them more if my kids weren’t so obsessed with the Lava Pool. I will say, one could make a case to book them 7/4 week just to have a reserved pool spot whenever you need it.

Otherwise, it’s pretty much no-frills. But also a no-frills price, so that’s nice!
