Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

This is not a Poly specific question, so I hope it's ok to ask here! We rented DVC points for a villa. Can we still go through Touring Plans for a room request, or can we only submit through the owner of the points?

You CAN go through TP, but you will likely see more success having the owner put in the request via Member Services. DVC operates a little differently.

There was some talk a few pages back about the monorail and getting to PPO breakfasts. What about the monorail on EMH days? We will be at the Poly next month and are planning Morning EMH one day. I would like to be at Epcot about 7:45 so we will be ready to head in right at 8. Does anyone know if the monorails run for EMH or if there are busses?

we recently rented at BCV and sent a fax through TP, it was the only way we made requests. we got what we wanted and had an anniversary balloon in our room at arrival - and the only place that was noted was in our fax.

Months ago, I had no intention to to ever stay at the Poly.

I did not like the look, the layout and the rooms

But I thought there must be a reason why so many people love the Polynesian. Last January we had a reservation for dinner at Kona Café and we explored the resort more detailed afterwards and watched fireworks from the beach.

Well, this eveining, this disboards-thread and Tikimanpages got me to ask for point-rental availability for a studio in February. I have to admit it was my second choice, VGF studio was the first choice. I asked for standard view, initially I wanted a lake view but my friend who is with me told me he would rather enjoy a garden view and would be very pleased with a parking lot view (well...I would not be happy with a parking lot view but I had to convince him many months to try Disney at least once in his life, so I will follow his wish for a garden or parking lot view...).

I was told they have availability for a standard studio and are trying to reach a member now.

Please cross fingers for me that they will secure a reservation!

I would be so pleased with one of these studios and staying at the Poly for the first time.

Ah, and I just got a ressie for California Grill, Tiffins and Yachtsman for the exact dates and times I wanted. What a day :-)

We just received the information that a reservation is secured!

So we are staying 3 nights next Feb. 11 - 14 in a standard view Studio. I am so grateful that we were able to rent points for a studio that I thought it would only be available 6-7 months in advance

Just a heads up, the monorail went down today from TTC to Epcot. People were stuck for half an hour or more. We were at Epcot talking to Grandma awaiting kids and grandkids who were stuck between.

Are you going to let your friend have the bed?

what's the main difference between booking a room at the Poly Resort VS booking a deluxe studio in the Poly Villa? I got a unique code (I guess a PIN??) sent to me via email and booking a room at the resort gives me only 15% discount but at the Villa 30% discount?

I am thinking this will be my only request as well, can I ask what longhouse you were put in??
We were pot in a lovely room in Tuvalu. We did not get 3rd floor but the view made 2nd floor ok with us. Another time I would put a 3rd check to make sure my requests are in. My daughter and I have a standard view room in Hawaii building booked for my birthday I will try again for 3rd floor

1. A Standard room at the Poly will have 2 queen beds (or 1 king) and a daybed. The room will have a mini fridge, and one shower. Rooms on 1st and 3rd floors will have balconies or patios. A Standard View will be in Aotearoa, Fiji, Tuvalu, Niue, Samoa or Rarotonga. (Club Level is only in Hawaii; Lagoon and TPV are in Aotearoa and Tuvalu).

2. A Studio Villa at the Poly, if booked standard view, is only in Moorea, Tokelau or Pago Pago. The rooms have 1 queen bed, 1 queen sofa bed, and a murphy bed. They have a mini fridge, microwave, toaster and little kitchenette sink. They have two showers (but only one proper throne). Lake View Studios are only in Moorea. All Studio villas have a patio or balcony (even those on 2nd floor).

It really depends on cost, and your feelings on the bed configuration.

I recently booked our first stay at Poly and I'm trying to decide which longhouse would be best to request for our family. I love the views from the Figi, but we have three small children (2, 3, and 5) and I'm worried about walking (especially to monorail). Approximately how long does it take to walk to pools and monorail from Figi?

My second choice would probably be Samoa. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

We stayed in Samoa with 3 kids (11, 10, and 4) in August. We loved the central location to the GCH and both pools.

I just wanted to add to @_auroraborealis_ 's excellent response that the Poly Studio Villa rooms are all nearly brand new (2015). They were totally redone when Poly DVC was added. The longhouses themselves have a slightly different design, new entrances, wider hallways, different/brighter decor. The Poly Studio Villa longhouses are all on the TTC side of the resort, so will have a marginally shorter walk to the TTC than Standard Poly rooms.

Standard Poly rooms or older, with the last re-do being several years ago. The decor is a bit "darker" for some folks. I've never had a room that was in BAD shape but have had some that show a slight bit of age. Nothing terrible, just what happens in a hotel that is nearly full all of the time with constant abuse from families/kids.

Just got back yesterday from our trip and dreaded facing reality again! We had a split stay between Poly (our 1st time) and CBR. We really enjoyed our stay at both resorts and would love to return to the Poly again in the future! We ended up snagging a Kona breakfast reservation for our first morning and had excellent service and food.
Glad you had a great check in, very nice touch from the CM with the birthday and celebration buttons! Hope you have a great stay and enjoy the Poly. Happy birthday to your DD :cake:.
Thank you. We had a great stay and are looking forward to a return trip!

At our check-in we were never greeted outside or given a lei. We had a very unenthusiastic CM checking us in (a guy) who also never said anything or offered us one...we eventually asked him and he was kind of surly about it too. It's not so much that he said "NO", it's that he grumbled something about how somebody else would do it. Eventually another Cm came along and we asked her and she happily gave them to us.
The CM that checked us in did not originally offer us a lei, but there was another CM at the front that was walking around handing them out. That CM gave my daughter one (she was standing away from us) and after we completed check-in, the checkin CM offered us one.

Do they still give free leis at the front desk when you ask?
They did when I was there.
Arriving at WDW tomorrow:wave::cheer2:
Have a great trip!

Now that the Poly has both pools open has the situation with overcrowding and non-resort guests taking up spots gotten any better?
On our first night there, we went swimming after the fireworks and we almost had the entire pool and hot tub to ourselves. The next morning, we went to the pool after breakfast at around 11 am and we were able to find places to sit but there are several people who put towels down on multiple lounge chairs. For example, we walked over to one location near the slide and started to sit down. There was one adult there putting out towels on four chairs and she turned to us and said that the seats were taken. We had actually taken the last two of the row and there were three empty chairs between us and the last towel. I wanted to clarify that she was taking all 9 of the chairs and she said yes. Of course we moved and throughout the morning we never saw more than 3 adults over there.

We have done online check in. So, when we arrive at the hotel, do we still need to stop at the front desk?

What are everyone's favorite rooms at the Poly Studio buildings? My first instinct was Tokelau to be roughly equidistant to transportation and the GCH.

Nope, as long as you have your park tickets, credit card #, and charge PIN set up in MDE and have completed online checkin you should get a text with your room number and a link to a map of the resort when your room is ready and be able to completely bypass the front desk.

We love Samoa as it's just steps from both pools, GCH, Captain Cooks, and the beach :goodvibes.

Hi all! :)

How soon do you make your resort request - adding to existing reservation. I know I want a certain building, and that will be only request. Do I call now to add to reservation (trip in a year ) or wait a few months?

Or, just wait until doing online check in?

thanks Poly people!

Requests can be added anytime so if you know what you want, I'd call and have it added now :).

Congrats on getting the point rental! Hope you have a great time :wizard:.

If you get a room ready text, you won't have to stop at the front desk. However, not everyone gets a text. I don't know why it's inconsistent, but if you don't get the text you will have to stop at the front desk.
