New to the Poly thread! Hubby and I will be staying for our first time ever at the Polynesian in July. This is our Honeymoon trip 18yrs in the making and I cannot wait. Hubby doesn't know I booked it so all of this is a surprise for him. I booked a DVC studio standard view but would love to know which building would be the best to request. I don't need a view of anything really, trees or even another longhouse would be ok I just don't want a view of the parking lot. Any tips??

I now see that a few have posted that exterior work has began on that building. For the amount of money our room is costing I do not want to see any sort of construction or workers working out our window. HELP -- Not sure what to do.
.

We stayed in Fiji first week in May while they were working right next door on Aerotola. We were back during the day for naps and we only heard them one morning. It was quiet, inconspicuous work on the ground level only. We were on the third floor so it was really a non issue. I'm sure I would have felt differently if we were on the first floor. I'd go with the pp suggestion of scoping things out when you get there and asking to change if it's a problem.

There are very few rooms that have a view of parking. Most of the long houses, it won't even be a possibility. Take a look at Touring Plan views or even just the resort map to see.

I'm doing a split stay, Poly CL for the first 3 days then the rest of the time at the Swan. Anybody know if the IPO will help with special requests for the non-poly part of my trip?

DisneyMamato4, If you booked a DVC studio you will be limited to 3 longhouses. One of them, Pago Pago, definitely has parking lot views on one side of the longhouse. If that is a major concern for you, I would suggest you definitely request to not be on that side of the longhouse.

Ok, best advice for making a PPO ADR (8:15am) at Magic Kingdom next Monday (Memorial Day)? Based on the current monorail schedule, it won't start running until after our reservation. Will they have a bus/boat running directly from the resort that early? Or will our best bet be to walk to the TTC and take the large ferry over?

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind and hope they can put us in a room in eiher a different longhouse or on the other side

Well we have a Studio Villa (std view) reserved for our anniversary trip end of next month. But I just saw there's now availability for a regular room (std view) for right at the same price. Should I switch? It's just DH and I no kids, so beds don't make a difference. We're flying in and it's for 3 nights only, so the kitchenette doesn't really make a difference either. For the full poly experience, what do we want?!

If it's just the two of you I would say definitely stay in the villa. Having the second queen in the standard room would just be a waste of space and make the room feel cramped. The sofa bed couch in the villa would be a much better choice imo just don't pull out the bed and you almost have a living room! Plus the bathrooms and (rain head) shower are way nicer in the villa. The finishings look nicer as well imo, and the villas were more recently refreshed. And if you can snag the right room in Tokelau you are basically getting a lake view for standard prices. There is less storage in the villa but that shouldn't be an issue with just the 2 of you. Either way you can't go wrong and will have blast! :)

What a great surprise for your DH! The Poly is amazing, you are going to love it. Hope you have a great anniversary trip :wizard:.

IPO is usually just for the CL part of your trip, but you can always email them and ask :).

I can't answer, but hopefully others who are there now or have been recently will be able to help :flower3:.

we are so excited to be staying at the Poly this Halloween! We haven't stayed there since 2008 when we got married there.

Congrats on getting back to the Poly! Hope you have a great Halloween trip :goodvibes.

I would opt for the regular room as that's just my preference, but I really don't think you can go wrong with either one :).

Has there been any updates as to whether the monorail closures will continue into the fall? May be a deal breaker for me :(

Thank you for your response. I've left it so far...and we did request Tokelau. It did seem i stood a better chance for a better view in that building.

They have been working on the monorails the past couple of years. They are old, and need lots of maintenance. If they are down, their will be another form of transportation.

thank you! i love Halloween day at Disney, it's so much fun.. and i hope i get to see Elvis Stitch!

In my requests, we have a standard room, and i don't want Fiji.. is it ok to make the request of ground floor, not Fiji? Do you think that is ok to say, or will they just see "ground floor Fiji" --it's a bit out of the way and loud from the Luau.. or should i just say ground floor, Samoa, Niue, Raratonga.

I was also hoping to know if you can order items from Kona's menu from room service? Do they let you or is it strictly by the room service menu? I really want Kona's bread/butter at dinner time, and if i can't then i need to keep my adr, but getting room service sounds relaxing. At breakfast, the room service sounds great but i would want the Big Kahuna and it's not on room service's menu.

thank you

You're welcome :).

I agree, being at Disney on Halloween is a lot of fun! The first time we went in the fall was over Halloween and it was a lot of fun! We arrived 10/30 and attended the party on the 31st and had a great time as it doesn't get any better (IMO) than trick or treating in MK on Halloween night :goodvibes.

I'm not sure if "not Figi" would get overlooked, but just to be on the safe side, I think I'd put "ground floor" as a first request, followed by the longhouses you mentioned (in the order you would want them). With that said, sometimes requests get overlooked so if you get assigned a longhouse you don't want, you can always ask if a different one is available. It's not guaranteed your room can be changed, but it never hurts to ask as they will do everything they can to accommodate you ;).

I can't answer your question about room service, but hopefully others will be able to help :flower3:.

Hi, just butting in my two cents. I love the Fiji building ( always ask for Marina view and have always gotten it) 8 times! I find its location wonderful and the view is great considering it is a standard. To be honest, the noise from the luau have never bothered us. Wherever you decide. Have a magical time.

Super excited! WI have a surprise trip planned for my 2 kids (age 5 & 7) over the fourth of July weekend (had some flight credits we needed to use before they expire). We were able to switch up our reservation to a night at WL then move to the Poly for 3 nights in a deluxe studio. I understand that the beach will be extremely crowded on 7/3 & 7/4 (we'll be there both nights). We'd like to watch the fireworks, but hanging out on the beach for 4-5 hours will not work for the kids -- any suggestions of where/how to watch at the resort (doesn't need to be the best view) where we don't have to wait for hours? 10PM is late for them - so I'm trying to stay at the resort if possible. I'm also travelling alone with them - so it's not like I can leave someone to wait while I meander with the kids or go to the pool. This is our first Poly stay - so I'm not familiar with what options there might be here. Thanks in advance of your help!
