Thank you! I was going to google what it looked like at Christmas time! Now I'm even more excited!
I took my mom last year, just us 2. It was her first cl stay. On our 2nd day she went to the lounge for coffee and brought me back a cup. She starts rambling about how pretty the tree was. What tree???? I take a sip of coffee then screech.....ARE THE CHRISTMAS DECEORATIONS UP IN THE LOUNGE!!!!?????

Yep! Really made for a great trip! My mom is still talking about our trip, construction and all. In the end it is a beautiful resort and the views are just wonderful.

Disney at Christmas is a great time to go!

I'm checking in to Deluxe Studio tomorrow, trying to pack right now. Quick Question - do I really need to pack a power strip? I'm hoping since it's newer, they added USB charging ports. I am traveling with 2 teen boys and we will have numerous electronic items to charge. TIA

There are USB ports in the new DVC studios. I believe they are built into the lamps.

Here's a photo (from a while ago -- notice no bungalows blocking our lovely view?) that shows that, yes, the balcony railings can obstruct your views, but they don't block it entirely... Also, I thought I'd share one of my favorite pics from our stay at the Poly. Loved that view!

Beautiful, @mmmears :boat:
I am sad to see that view go.

I agree, very sad to no longer have that view :(.

ThistleMae, your view will be obstructed by the railing when you are sitting in the chairs- but not completely blocked!

I requested this view for August!! Hope we get it. Could you see the Electric Water Parade from balcony?

It was so pretty on the beach before bungalows. Now they're doing the same with WL :sad2:

Well, due to some changes in our flight time we will now be landing in MCO earlier than we were. We should be walking in to the lobby at Poly about this exact moment one week from today. I know it is not likely that we'll have a room this early (they are sold out that Thursday night) but it will be so nice to get our day started nice and early.

Nice photo...yeah, I guess the bungalows are an eyesore, unless you are staying in one! LOL

Can anyone give me there insight or recent experience in staying in one of the Deluxe Studios? At $500 a night I don't want to be dissappointed and especially don't want my husband to wonder why we spent so much. I have stayed at the Poly before in standard rooms and in Hawaii but never in a Villa/Studio. Advice? Some of the pictures I have seen make it seem spacious and others make it seem quite small. Are these the same size as the standard rooms?

Which longhouse is this?

I looked online at prices for the last week of January and wanted an explanation of the rooms. They had $456 a night for a standard room under the Polynesian resort, then it was $470 a night for a deluxe suite listed under a villa. What is the difference? This would be our first time staying deluxe. Thanks for any help.

Post #5 on the first page of this thread has a complete description and photos of a standard hotel room. If you have a villa, instead of 2 queen beds or 1 king bed, there will be "1 Queen-Size Sleeper Sofa and 1 Queen Bed and 1 Twin-Size Pull Down Bed" per Disney's site. Also, you will have a small kitchenette with a refrigerator as well as a microwave. If you book through Disney, you will have daily housekeeping with either.

Anything listed as a Villa is a DVC property. That doesn't mean you have to use points or be a DVC member to stay there. Just that they are designated DVC. If you book them through the Disney site on a cash reservation it's treated just like a regular resort reservation.

The nice thing about a Villa is there are mini kitchens in them so you have more than just a coffee pot and fridge found in the regular rooms.

I didn't know you would still get daily housekeeping (if booked through Disney). That is good news! Now to convince myself it is worth the dollars. They appear to be the same size as the regular room, more or less.

If I stay in a villa: studio standard view, which longhouse will I be placed in. I just want to make sure my room has a lot of sunlight. I hate dark rooms.
