Should I switch to Fiji then and if construction is done switch back to Samoa?? We loved tokaleu but it's DVC now :(

They are preparing to close the East Pool. It could be closed as soon as next Monday (July 13)
Thank you! I was THIS close to switching our rez for August back to Poly. We will save it for next year or the year after. Thank you again!

Ha I wouldn't be surprised if the East pool construction was delayed into September. It's the reason I held off booking the Poly in August so it only makes sense.

I really hope this is the case. We're going late August and run the risk of pool construction. Hopefully not.

Someone clue me in, I'm reading so many who are terribly upset that the East Pool will be closed. Going so far as to not stay at the resort because of it. Why? Is that pool all that? I understood why folks wanted to stay elsewhere when the main pool was under construction or when all the walls and torn up paths were an issue but why this particular pool? The East Pool is just the quiet pool, right?

Really hope they keep that East pool open until after Labor Day. Makes absolutely no sense to close down their second pool in Mid July during the hottest time of the year. September is more logical.

deleting an accidental triple quote!

Ok, this is acting crazy on my phone. I'll try this way with no quote.

For me I'm concerned about the quiet pool construction because we are booked GV CL and ALL of those rooms face the quiet pool. If we didn't have that room category booked I wouldn't be worrying about it, I would be willing to take my chances of getting a room request of any room not facing the quiet pool construction granted. Last Sept we did decide to stay at the GF, because there was way to much construction for me to be willing to stay at the Poly.

I would guess because it seems as if the majority of garden view rooms at the resort overlook this pool. And it does not seem to be just a simple renovation. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but aren't they going to excavate the entire pool foundation and all? If so, this would be pretty icky to look outside your window at every day, not to mention noisy! I suppose if you have a water, or MK view booked, this wouldn't be an issue but to those with the garden view, it could be a scary prospect. The Polynesian is beautiful, but an expensive resort to stay at. Many people, including us would rather have it up and running completely, or at least mostly completely before spending the money to stay there. This is why we moved to the CR.

I think a lot of people just don't want to deal with construction while on vacation. It takes away the magic.

We never would have booked while the main pool was down but the quiet pool doesn't bother us.

Ah, ok. I can see how that could bother folks I suppose. We have a garden view and will just take our chances. Construction won't bother us, unless they plan to jack hammer at night. Then we'll have an issue.

What are the chances the Poly will block the rooms facing the construction of the East pool?

Just wanted to pass along what we were told / what we saw last week - we were there 6/29-7/2.

It will be tough to explain this in writing, but the way they poured the recently completed paths around that whole east pool "quad" makes getting to the east pool somewhat awkward at best. They poured the pathways up to a point and stopped, presumably where a future construction fence will go. They put down mulch as a "bridge" between the new path and old path leading into the pool area. It was like this in several spots around the pool. In my amature view, the way they poured these paths with the awkward gaps accessing the east pool certainly makes it seem like construction is close, it's not really a long-term setup at all.

I think Disney has to modify all their pools to add fences. Not sure if they have a date they have to have them done by or anything. Just I was under the impression that eventually every pool on property will be fenced.

Maybe the awkward pathways have to do with this new permanent pool fence? Would be lovely if they just fenced it and were done with it. Wishful thinking, I know, as we will be there in August, likely to pool construction. Regardless of any construction, we're expecting to have a F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C time at the parks and the Poly!!!! 37 days!!! Whoohoo!!!!

Did anyone get any discounts for the Poly this year on the 4th?

Yes...can't remember exact discount, most likely around 40%ish AP discount. We have stayed at Poly the last 3 years for the July 4 week and have had a discount each year.

I was told it would be open through he weekend...guess that makes since.

Still glad I moved to a LV in Hawaii

What type of coffee marker is in the standard view, non DVC rooms?
Do we need to buy coffee & filters for it from garden grocer, or are supplies there?

Thanks!
