I thought I would post this here...
I know Disney has established new nutritional guidelines. One of the guidelines is that all trans fats will be taken out of the parks. However, I was looking at the Dole Whip Soft Serve ingredients and noticed that the fourth ingredient was partially hydrogenated soybean oil. Partially Hydrogenated oils = trans fats!
It is common knowledge that for a product to be considered trans fat free, it has to have less than .5 grams of trans fat per serving. The Dole company has gotten around this by setting the portion size at 1/2 cup. Have you ever seen a 1/2 cup portion at Disney? I haven't.
This is a huge ticket item at Disneyland and WDW! I don't think anyone is fooled into thinking a Dole Whip is health food and people do not eat this everyday. I also know people might think this is petty BUT the point is that people are not eating what they think they are eating.
I have written Dole to ask if they are planning to remove it anytime soon but I haven't received a response yet. Many companies are removing them so maybe they will follow suit.
Fingers crossed!
